    I made a similar soap a few weeks ago instead with goats milk and Lavender Tonka Bean Essential Oil...The indigo and rose clay made an awesome pretty soft purple color. Beautiful.

    You should try making a baby/kid inspired line of soaps too, lord knows our babies could use some more natural soaps! Ooooh like a soft oatmeal and aloe, or oatmeal vitamin e and coconut with little to no fragrance! I would spend way too much and buy everything haha Love your videos!!

    Hi Ophelia. Your soaps are always wonderful. I haven't tried making soap with coconut milk yet. Does coconut milk heat the soap paste? Because this is my fear.

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it can heat it up. Just don’t use too much. I like to use about 3% of my oil weight.

    Does using coconut milk powder instead of liquid milk make any difference to the finished soap?, and the indigo gave a fabulous colour, I'll try that on my next batch!

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t notice any difference except maybe the batter doesn’t heat up as much using the powder.

    Hello, I am a beginner in soap making and I made it twice and failed. Perhaps the amount of hydroxide solution is not suitable for the proportion of oils. After making it, I notice that the oils started separating. I want to know the appropriate amount of solution for oils (in liters) knowing that I do not know how to use the soap calculator and it is very tiring. Please reply, thank you 💌

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Soap making is very technical. There isn’t a set amount. You have to learn how to use a soap calculator. It will tell you how much sodium hydroxide, water and oils to use. You can watch TH-cam tutorials on how to use it. I use this one
      soapcalc.net/calc/soapcalcWP.asp

    I have a question, how much ventilation do you have while making soap inside? I want to start but my brother& dad who are science geeks are concerned about the lye.

    • @LESCreations
      @LESCreations 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've researched a lot& know a lot about lye& soap making safety but I wanted a little more advise.

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually don’t have any ventilation. You can wear a mask or mix it outside because of the fumes but honestly as long as your face is not directly over the container when mixing you’ll be fine :)
      The fumes only last a minute or so.

    I had a question about the lavender buds. I belong to a soap group on fb and some of the admin have said not to use them because they will mold. I love lavender. Is there something you do to keep that from happening on your soaps?

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve never had that problem. I do not spray with alcohol. Maybe that’s why 🤔

    First, let me commend you on your color choice for this soap. I had no idea that indigo and rose clay made lavender - amazing. Second, the music in your videos is likewise amazing. I replay your videos just to hear it. Lastly, you have amazing botanicals in your shop and the prices are so reasonable I’m ‘that’ close to going back to soap making.

    Yeah use the colloidal oatmeal from Aveeno or some similar brand. Don't use the oatmeal flakes in the soap they hurt or scratch you when your lathering. You can add oatmeal flakes on top for an aesthetic look but ,but I definitely agree with using the Aveeno powder for eczema or itch calming.

  • @analeeharriman1449
    @analeeharriman1449 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is there a specific type of oatmeal that has to be used in soapmaking? I noticed the Aveeno brand name, so I was wondering if it had to be oatmeal that specifies facial and body usage.
