Great topic. In the past few months, I've just started to cut out all foods with any level of processing and instead cook my own food. I feel so much healthier.
It always was, all of it. Big food/big pharma/medical industrial complex, American heart association etc etc. they are all investing in one another. We buy and are fed highly processed/addictive foods, over time we get autoimmune/metabolic and mental health diseases. Pharma swoops in with pills/medications/therapies that all have side effects, which we need more pills and medications to suppress symptoms. And around and around we go. This has got to stop
Die sooner? Well perhaps, but not before we spend long periods of time in hospitals and are fed copious amounts of expensive drugs. Then they'll let us die.
Average profit margin on cereal is 17% and then add in the inflationary impacts of the last 3 years and the profit margin is now ~12%-15%. That's profit margin isn't greed really....
@@Chad_Max Perhaps he means that the dyes in the US product are cheaper than the natural colors in the export products. I almost think they would be because if the production costs for both were similar then it wouldn't make any sense to have two different varieties on two separate production lines.
I completely don't understand how byproducts from the MINING industry end up in food. Any food additive that comes from petroleum (oil) should be outright banned.
I’ve recently moved to the Philippines. I’ve been here for 2 months and eating the local foods mainly pork, chicken, beef, vegetables, and rice. No additives. It’s going to sound weird but I haven’t had any nasal drip or boogers. I have less allergies here.
I haven't eaten any Kelloggs cereal in almost 2 years. When I heard where they got the wheat and all the pesticides on those fields I gave up cereal. I do miss my Frosted Flakes but know it's better not to eat it. When the inflation started going up I saw that a small box was going for $7! Thank goodness I'm already boycotting it.
I forget the stats, but it was something like 1 inspector for however many hundreds (thousands?) of locations. Absolutely no way a duly just and thorough inspection can possibly be done. Just waiting for some wild outbreak that could have been prevented.
We're already seeing the results of that, and it'll get worse. The same goes for inspections of imported food, don't buy anything to eat from China and much of SE Asia.
@ oh yeah, forgot red 40 is made from Petroleum distillates I mean, what else are you gonna do with oil byproduct? eat it for cheap right? Anyway, can you tell me what cereal you can eat that’s exposed to direct sunlight?🙃🙈
@@BabyBoomersDoomer Yes, the beet is so much better!! No question, but people don't want to pay for it. But it's not only cereal that uses red colors, but the most common natural red coloring is carmine. Look that one up!
They want you to get addicted to these sugary foods and additives. I moved to Germany almost two years ago from the US and when I visit, I can’t eat that stuff anymore.
Maximize profits for stock market investors. Poor health outcomes? No problem, they have drugs for that - more stock market profits for investors. Have to sell your house to pay for health care, Wall Street will take that off your hands as well. They want all the marbles and it’s set to accelerate.
Is that a bad thing? Companies that attract investors grow, growth leads to jobs, jobs afford people a higher standard of living. Consumption of these products is 100% voluntary. I'm just not seeing the issue here...
@@Chad_Max It is a bad thing when it preys upon people. I’m all for capitalism but there need to be a few checks on it. Consumers don’t voluntarily prefer chemical substitutes of natural products that tasted better.
Some import things that were missed. 1. The "natural" things mentioned, fruit and vegetable colors, etc. Cost MORE, that has been the major driver in the use here. Put the same two boxes of the same cereal US vs EU side by side in the store, and the cheaper one sells so much more, the companies gave up on selling more natural ones here. 2. US laws are different. We label things very differently, we have natural and artificial, the EU uses Natural, nature identical, and artificial. Nature identical is if the molecule is the same just derived from another source, but the same thing, it's just called artificial here. There are more things as well, but what I am more concerned with is the lack of inspections in the US food industry, the number of inspectors has been greatly reduced to be replaced with "self inspection and self-regulation" by the companies. And there are plans to reduce the number of inspections and rules from what we have now, to save more money (and a few "donations" I expect)!
This is what the news should be talking about. Lawmakers need to move to ban food coloring and follow what europe does. Food coloring has proven to be detrimental to your health which is why it isnt in food in europe.
Too poor and too stupid to eat better food. The industry responds to consumer demand. If you want healthier options, figure out 1.) what to acquire 2.) how to acquire and 3.) prepare and/or consume those foods. Hint: government isn't going to help you.
@@pinkroses135 Right. The current (somewhat) free market is thousands of times more responsive and agile than the government, in terms of delivering what people want. Just one example was the fat-free fad (ala _Susan Powter_ ) during the early to mid '90's. Snackwell's brand and line of cookies were selling so well that the grocery store shelf space was empty. Now, they're pretty much extinct. (People learned that if you ate 12 boxes a day, even if you exercised an hour, those surplus calories got stored away as fat.)
Behavior problems = fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, too many unplanned pregnancies, moms partying it up unaware they’re prego first few weeks, not dx until ages 3-5 & only if mommy admits to drinking while prego, adhd is a sign & symptom itself with delayed speech, struggles in comprehension etc
No comparison between a natural perishable product that got contaminated vs intentionally adding chemicals that are not essential or offer nutritional value and may have adverse effects as the speaker is trying to compare at end of video.
That's terrible. If there is a healthier alternative we need to use it. Full stop. Profits be damned. Guess we need new household food brands and names if they can't adapt. That's buisness right? If you can't grow you perish.
I’ve eaten 200 pounds of Fruit Loops and Trix over the last 50 years and I feel fine. People can go in a liquor store and buy as much poisonous alcohol as they want and this is what the fascists are concerned about? Fruit Loops? What about cigarettes and marijuana? Smoke up Johnny!! Put down those Trix son!! They’re deadly!! 😂

About time we started talking about this sht
Shelf life, shelf life, preservatives, yeah, chemicals, artificial flavors and sugar, sugar, more sugar.
Greed, and they want us to die sooner, also for greed. So yes, greed.

@Bill-im6nt they definitely have less sugar if anything no extra corn syrup

GREED. There saved you five minutes
This is common knowledge for anyone paying any attention.

That doesn't do anything to erase the problem. We've known this quite frankly as long as we've been alive. The thing is nothings been done about it.
Who ever thought that putting chemicals which don't belong inside your body would result in unintended health effects?
RFK Jr gonna clean house!!!! The USA has to be the fattest country in the World.
"Clean House" meanwhile he's on the airplane eating mcdonalds
Profit first, the consumer is just another consumable in the profit chain.
Don't forget Seed Oils. Remember when McD's french fries tasted better before they changed the cooking oil? Bet other way is healthier too.
Addictive cheaper than real food, and to make it addictive, so you eat more, and buy more!

Less allergies due to different plant species that you haven’t been sensitized to. Agree the food is way better.

Hopefully RFK forces manufacturers to stop using harmful additives in their food.
Red 40, yellow 6 and blue 1 are all banned in Europe and yet I’ve been eating them since the 1980’s 😢
they aren't banned in Europe, they're just named differently
80's food was alright. It's just been the last 15 years people have been eating more crap and it leading to more health issues.
Don't fool yourself. Processed food in Canada is FULL of many of the same ingredients as those in the US.
Appreciating the straight news! Just the news… no bias.
I buy cookies from Europe because they use just normal natural ingredients.

I don't eat store bought cookies. I make my own now.

Red 40 or beat juice extract
Beet juice color is a much better idea, just costs about 100 times more and fades in sunlight.

Not to mention the pesticides and herbicides that are present in wheat and corn crops
