When you play the clarinet, this is one of those people that you look up to. And its people like this that make me proud to play something that can make such an amazing sound.
This was wonderful to watch and hear. My father idolized Benny Goodman, played clarinet like him, and his favorite song was Body and Soul. He died in a crash at age 40 and I would long for him to hear this - he would be 90! However, it was because I was searching for Eddie Duran whom I saw playing at a party yesterday in Napa and was awestruck to find this gem. Thanks so much for the rendering. Eddie was so humble. So many musicians at the party but none with the experience he has had.
Amazing to think that when Benny and Teddy played this concert, I was 17 and in US Navy boot camp. My Mom, who was a huge Benny Goodman fan, would have loved this concert as would I. God bless Benny and Teddy.
Los buenos (o geniales en este caso) deberían ser inmortales¡¡¡ Q pena no haber nacido antes para verlo tocar (hacer arte) en directo. Goodman será eterno porque su música jamás morirá¡¡¡
Really nice version of this standard.. The guy really knew his way around his instrument and how to deliver consistently great interpretations. Whenever you see him play, he makes it look almost effortless - the sign of a great artist. Thanks for posting this!
Great piece - it's amazing how good they sound considering thefact it wasab out43 years after the the same trio cut the first great renditon of body and soul. thanks for the post
Thanks "SwingCla", your digitized renderings are awesome..hope to see more of what you have done and thanks for comment. I got to revisit this beautiful performance and realize that it is Teddy Wilson on piano!!! Wonderful to share these things across the years and miles as well!
A Great Artist recognizes it immediately: from the earliest notes, from the modes of interpretation and execution of a piece, from its rare, unique style, unmistakable to originality, fantasy and creativity. Elements, all of which contribute together to place them among the most "Great" Artists that linger over the entire musical artistic firmament. c.castellano, Italy
Un "Grande Artista "lo riconosci subito: dalle prime note, dalle modalità di interpretazione ed esecuzione di un brano, dal suo stile raro, unico, inconfondibile, per originalità, fantasia e creatività. just great! benny and teddy HATED bad notes....there is always something new no matter how many times they've played these tunes. i am so glad i got to see the original quartette live at saratoga ny with milt hinton as an extra added attraction on bass-just terrific!

このピアノもいいですね、歯切れのいい演奏で、クラリネットの艶っぽさを、際立たせてますね~。幸せです。
Great tune done by the Benny Goodman group. This is one of my top 10 great songs.

Bella melodia para ser apreciada por todas las generaciones
I'm a huge fan of Teddy Wilson, so that's no wonder Benny loved him! (;
Eddie Duran and Al Obidenski. My homeboys from SF. Benny and Teddy Wilson still sounded good then.
My absolute favorite song. Reminiscent of Teddy Wilson playful rendition.

A música já E linda, mas na execução de Benny Goodman, fica maravilhosa.
The music is ageless as is Benny's sound
and teddy wilson's elegance and grace are ageless as well
I play the clarinet too! I wish I could be like Acker Bilk & Benny Goodman. :-(
