Lo mejor de todo lo que escuchado en mi vida
His playing got more simplistic in his old age but he hasn't lost a step in taste. In fact, it's because he plays so little here that each note carries so much more life and meaning.
why rap...why hateful speeches that rhyme...why cant you just listen to this? why have people become so shallow so impatient so angered so stressed so thoughtless? This is the music that doesn't curse and spout something negative every 5 seconds. This is music that reminds people of a happier time.
Im only 14 and i just discovered this tasteful music. I mean sure i like some rap but this beats it all.
Benny ...Clarinet perfection....So many great licks!!!!!!!!!!!
When I was a lad a friend of mine had a, brother who played clarinet, the brother was away doing his national service and he gave me one of his records, Benny at Carnegie Hall 1938, man I wore it out, I could hear the other side playing through, I eventually replaced it and then replaced it with the full concert CD Benny found in his loft,, I never tire of it, I must have played it ten thousand times but I still hear something new, thanks Benny, Gene, Harry, Lionel, et al.
Long live the legend of Benny! May swing never die! Thanks for such a nice clip of him giving his all.
I am in swing dance classes with 20/30 somethings and they love this music. Benny Goodman, Chick Webb, Glenn Miller, the Dorsey brothers. There is hope for the younger generation!
THANKS for your post ! I am always wonderfully delighted when I hear of young people loving the great music of the past ! Your comment has MADE my day, my week & my weekend !! :-)

Came into this world listening to my parents swing to Benny, et al. 62 years later, I still dig it :-)

Saw Benny many times at the Paramount in N.Y.C. Those days were swinging times.
Lucky you :-)...!
bbark96 is getting some great stuff to hear, I saw Benny in person 5 years
before this in Cohasset, MA. An unforgettable evening. Of course I always
kept up with Benny, I'm 66 now and still remember seeing "The Benny Goodman
Story" when I was 12. I played Clarinet, too, and had my own band. We always
included some numbers associated with Benny.
Now that's ease benny what a improviser what a genius gone not forgotten

We had a 10,000 sq ft dance pavilion located between Wayland Michigan and Bradley, Michigan(Dixie). The Kent County Probate Court allowed the pavilion to be destroyed; also the Wayland Twp. officials stood by and said nothing. We had paid to preserve the landmark.

Mister Howell Says Heavens! A Yale Man!
EL REY DEL SWING!!!
Good luck with your performance...well i guess its already passed now. How did you do? :)
Isso que e tocar com suavidade
Is that oscar petterson plays like him wow
Teddy Wilson always sat at chair instead of a bench. Is there a “why” or just personal preference?
Benny Goodman's armaments seems to play out like a Greek Tragedyy. You have to listen very carefully for the 'peripeteia' or the moment in the story when the tragedy is revealed and a sudden change in intellect and logic occurs. This song is no exception to that logic and his arrangement of Count Basie's One O'clock jump when he played Carnegie Hall. Bravo maestro!
Could you please explain what you mean? Your comment seems interesting but I don't quite grasp it. I should have been asking this back in 2013, it messes with my mind how old some comments are on youtube.
He makes the clarinet look like he’s playing a toy.
1:20 dude on guitar looks like Columbo

It's a toss up between Peanuts and BG as best licorice stick of all time - but BG by a whisker??
Don't laugh when I ask.. but what did you think of Henry Cuesta? (I always thought he was much better than Welk deserved.)
Who's peanuts? Just wonderin
@@colejohnsondrums Michael "Peanuts" Hucko. He was a phenomenal player, often ranked just behind Benny as a swing player

Teddy Wilson tocou com Billie Holliday!
IMHO, this song loses its essence withouth the saxes.. I mean "Don´t be that way". I like them anyway.
e,ralamejor
Oh dear.... Benny hates it when the audience clap with the music - and indeed it is most irritating.
He did it in rehearsal often.
