      @@dabneyoffermein595Unfortunately with the massive price increases from the bankruptcy and COVID related inflation, this project has become untenable for me. I could finish but I have other higher priorities to complete first like paying off my mortgage before retirement. 3 more years to go. I’m looking to sell my wing and empennage kit.

    Build and first flight....... Was it smooth on Cloud Nine ? I was an A&P mechanic with Delter Airlines for 32 years. Owning an airplane was a dream, until they cut the heck out of our retirements. Now they make billions, instead of millions, and the mechanics get a sunburn on their "bung"- ee.

  • @gmcjetpilot
    @gmcjetpilot 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Phase 1 is solo only no passengers. There is no way you can justify the guy in the right seat is required crew. Any way FAA appreciates your incriminating video.

    • @BenPay33
      @BenPay33  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They are both the builders of the airplane. The gentleman that signed the plane off for the airworthiness actually recommended having a co-pilot to help with some task saturation of a new airplane. It is perfectly legal and recommended.

    • @gmcjetpilot
      @gmcjetpilot 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@BenPay33 You are 100% correct, and 100% off base. Ha ha. First you are right a Pilot can have a second safety pilot who is qualified and current can act as safety pilot during flight test per AC 90-116. One is the PIC. *Still no passengers are allowed.* So I stand corrected it is legal, as FAA allowed 7 yrs ago to improve safety. Second the off base part, reasons you state are irrelevant. The FAA/DAR who signed the plane off has no say. Who built it is also irrelevant. The PIC can allow a 2nd pilot with a log book entry for every flight with the 2nd safety pilot noted. Task saturation is not the reason, only additional eyes and for safety. The 2nd observing pilot need not assist in work load or "tasks". Again I was wrong a 2nd pilot is allowed, but not a passenger.
