- Sitting down with @DavidJaffeGames and Kirk from @whatsnewvideogames to discuss Kirk's Concord review as whether or not this game will flop. Nobody has been that critical of Concord gameplay, but continue to do show the negative Concord trailer reaction might have been spot on.
Concord is an upcoming first-person hero shooter game developed by Firewalk Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5 and Windows on August 23, 2024.

That and the forced dei pronoun shit is what killed this game. If you dont believe me read the comments on playstations page.
It's that simple, the 40 dollar price tag is far from it's problem.
For example, games make millions of dollars off skins for characters. Whether it's a hot skin for a female character. Or a really cool looking one for a guy character. You think people care about a woke looking fat black woman, I'm not being racist it's just the truth. You might have a few people who do but it's not mass appealing.

Kirk needs to learn to listen now and than and shutting up after he made his point, he's annoying.
I talked about half as much as Jaffe did, and most of the time you can even see me turn my mic off. Maybe you just find me personally annoying? But it doesn't matter because I don't have to take sh** from you.

That’s not debate, that’s aggression. You can be passionate without being rude. You get loud and talk over people. Interrupting people often. That’s rude. And it’s not fun to watch. Don’t care if you get all mad. That’s just the truth. Lobo does a good job at not interrupting or getting aggressive. That’s what people mean. It’s not what your stance is that people don’t like most of the time, it’s how you say it.
@@jaxsonburch-eo1vz I'll take that feedback into consideration. I think this may just be a Jaffe issue. We have a certain dynamic on his streams which essentially amounts to bickering, and he likes to push my buttons for his own amusement. That obviously didn't translate very well in this setting at all. But I don't think what you're talking about is something I consistently do with Lono because our one-on-one discourse is much different.
@@whatsnewvideogames I respect that. And yeah I haven’t seen your other content with him, but if that’s the case then that’s fine. I know on some other channels like the Kristian Harloff channel, the two guys are really good friends who just make fun of each other because that’s just what they do. If that’s the case here then great, but I don’t think people here know that yet. It just sometimes looks like two people don’t like each other and we just want you guys to get along. It’s all about the games at end of the day.

Here I am 2 weeks later and it’s being shut down and refunded. Kirk has the mentality of a child on how he acts during a conversation.
It's official Sony lost almost 200 million Dollars from the Flop Of Concord. I wouldn't be surprised if the PlayStation 5 Pro was $700 to make up for the loss.

Here is the simple truth: if Concord had just made around 30% of its characters as aesthetically pleasing as First Descendant and cut the pronouns out of the game, it would have had at least 5-10x more players during open beta.

@@Marioheat I'm not making a 100% factual statement. I'm using common sense, and seeing that the vast majority of covarage this game gets is the ridicule of its goofy and unappealing characters.
Just think about it: How did First Descendant become so popular? It was the cool/pretty characters that got people to notice, and then word of mouth did the rest. Or take Overwatch, for example. Where is concords Mercy or Widowmaker? Where is it's Hanzo or Genji?

Based on the fact that so many people went to play, First Descended purely because of the appealing characters.
This is how I got into overwatch I saw Widow and tracer and stayed For Reinhardt, lol. At least until he was unplayable in 2.
Its why I play first descended dispite hating the grind. I am telling you yeah I would pick up Concord if they had just one or 2 appealing characters.
Why would I want to spend money to play a 8 out of 10 game and hate looking at all the characters. Why would I grind for skins or unlocks ect. Especially when there are other more appealing games.

i'm glad you had Jaffe on the show. this was great....lol really entertaining. one of the best ones i've seen on the channel. Kirk is ok....but adding Jaffe makes it so much more interesting imo

So because of a single character you don't like a whole game becomes trash? And that it plays fantastic and the beta was surprisingly good to an extend that it even reached overwatch quality and game fun doesn't matter? What has become of gamers this days?

No one cares about a fake black woke woman with blue lipstick. It's a harsh truth I know but, it's not mass appealing.
A single character? No. All of them.
For me Concord is a missed opportunity, I know we don't really get into any type of the politics aspect which I appreciate, however I agree with the notion based on those characters being of a particular mindset instead of making GOOD characters. I'm not into hero shooters but if you're gonna make heroes make them cool, good, fun, I mean that cast of characters is awful and that doesn't excite me at all. Which is ashame because I agree the actual gameplay looks ok but I think they needed to make it destiny lite, and it would've had more appeal and I would've happily jump in.
But imo concord will be doa given the beta was a fail, nobody is ponying up 40 bucks

Since f2p became a thing, people have never spent as much money on games. A lot of people who spent a lot of time playing f2p games spend money on battle passes and maybe even a special skin in the shop. Is doesn’t take long before that money exceeds 40$. Concord is saving people money. How is no one seeing that?

I like to feel like a badass when I play a shooting game. These characters were mostly so bad that I would avoid using them just off asthetics alone. Even the characters that were usable were pretty corny. It’s hard to be a successful hero shooter when the hero’s are just lame

Did Jeffe watch Kirk’s video? He gave it an 8.5 but said don’t buy it cause you should wait for ps+ because it may not have players being a paid game in this genre. I agree gameplay was solid , and I feel like only a few characters threw people off. Daw, emari . If those two didn’t look like that I don’t think anyone would have complained because most other characters look completely fine

I always hate what the MCU has done to people's brains... there is nothing wrong with Guardians of the Galaxy inspired characters. X-Men was an immediate direct response to Doom Patrol. The Chief of the Doom Patrol even uses a wheelchair. Some of the personalities in the Guardians movies were more in line with something like Firefly rather than the original comic. League of Legends does this with characters all the time, Cho'Gath is more of a rip off of Violator from Spawn than any of Concords characters are a rip off of Guardians.

On the first beta, there were 11 people watching Concord streams on Twitch... There is no audience for this.
Not on PC nor PS, they need to stop buying unproven studios that released 0 games and acquire real talent instead.
And what are the actual reasons for this? The game is high quality, the gameplay is very good and fun. This game has all the requirements to be a success. So what are the real reasons it has no interest or negative comments online? Noome cn actually name a single reason because there actually is none. All it started with was media and press comments and it became a general consensus so all people follow blindly and now this game is called trash, although the beta proved how good it is. There were even people who called this game "woke" because of its alien cast. Crazy. Goes to show how influenced people can get. If the same game without a single change would have been hyped by the media, we would all be preordering and talking about how we cant wait to play. Real reasons or content doesn't matter anymore, it's all about general concuss and hype. With concord, it was blind hate from the beginning before there was even gameplay to see. And no it doesn't matter if it is a fantastic game that may be on par with Overwatch and others, the consensus is it must be bad so all gamers of with that.

It is high production when it comes to the CGI cutsenes but it is not a good game for many different reasons.

A few reasons:
-Mostly terrible character designs.
Nobody wants to play as these characters, at all. That's number 1.
-Balancing issues, the few characters you would want to play are severely under powered.
-Forces you to swap characters, because they know nobody wants to play as those characters.
-Bad map designs.
-Slow as melaces characters.
-Bad UI, you don't know who wins or looses.
-Overwatch clone without the compelling characters.
-Parody of a Guardians of the Galaxy crew.
-It's not free to play, but even when the beta was free and open to all, nobody was playing it.
-They should split ths bill among the 10 people watching on Twitter, so if the game cost 200 million, you divide that by 10 and each should forced to pay 20 million for it, them and the consultant companies who forced this trash game down people's throats.

All these games should have a free 3-4 hour gameplay for ps plus subs you gotta get people to love the game in 1 night. And if you cant your game doesnt deserve to succeed
A little mixed on this episode. What primarily irked me was elements of the omnipresent rhetoric regarding characters not being up to a certain beauty and sex appeal standard, thus, such characters are automatically dismissed as uninteresting.
Don't misunderstand, I've no qualms against sexy/doll-faced protagonists and the like (Stellar Blade is actually one of my games of the year.), but a game lacking said type of character isn't necessarily a death knell. And to quickly label the disdain towards the lack of such as "DEI" is just a snapshot of that certain culture war ilk of those who are always screaming accusatory "Sweet Baby Inc-involved" from the top of their lungs.
Also it's really concerning the level of disdain/stigma people have at the slightest inkling of diverse inclusion whether that is in regards to race, body type, sexual orientation or gender. The level of disdain towards some of the aforementioned aspects is more...assertive than others, to put it lightly.
@@DanteMasaru Agree. It’s been wild seeing that all the gaming channels I used to watch on here are all racist weirdos. I’m at the point where I’m only going to watch gaming channels from black gamers and women gamers moving forward.

@@ThDragoomba No one suggesting that having attractive characters is a problem. It's true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the questionable criteria in what some deem "attractive" is something to be taken aback by.
@@DanteMasaru even in nature, fit animals are deemed attractive by the other ones. We got handsome male protagonists all the time with 8 pack abs. Kratos literally be roaming half naked with a short ass skirt for the first 3 games. But God forbid we have a pretty girl with a big ass and tits. People are quick to scream something along the lines of puritanical censorship, "DEI", as well as the omnipresent "woke" mantra.
Personally, I think a protag can still be attractive while decently covered, but for some this is deemed unattractive to the point of it being unacceptable.
Again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but, damn, the level of disdain when the scantily clad criteria isn't met is quite the self report. Hell, lest we forget, porn does exist.

I typically don't agree with Kirk. But I actually agree with him in this video. Jaffe thinking throwing Sony IPs in Concord will make it more interesting is hilarious. That's such an outdated "exec who makes bad decisions" move lol. He's trying to talk against soulless cash grabs, but that's the quintessential soulless cash grab move. And the audience would know.

Concord is releasing at the wrong time unfortunately when the current cultural zeitgeist is hating on DEI/woke coded games is cool and gratifying irregardless if it’s good/bad. So they destroy it before it gets a chance like how fascists do it.

Kirk I want this game to succeed so bad, but as an American citizen these characters are undeniably direct products of the American Left agenda and Liberal extremists. They are, imo, hugely problematic and deserve no place in video games. It's like in an alternate reality where Republican extremism took over and all video games where full of Blonde Jacked Straight Men and Woman from Texas with Confederate Flag clothing. We don't want escape our boring reality with boring characters. We want cool characters, it's just that simple.

Kirk, I love your content, I love your presence and love your personality, but open your eyes man. It's like seeing a Character with a Maga hat and saying beside the Maga hat what makes him Republican lol. The modern political agenda and influence has no place in our free/fun time which manifests itself in videogames. Looks no further than First Descendant, they didn't make characters to check Diversity, Equity and Inclusion boxes - they just made cool videogames characters.
