  • Thai police have launched an internal investigation over their handling of a high profile hit-and-run case.
There has been public outcry over a perceived culture of impunity for the rich after charges were dropped against the grandson of the creator of the Red Bull energy drink.
Eight years ago, he fled Thailand after a fatal crash in which a police officer was killed.
Al Jazeera’s Wayne Hay reports from Bangkok.

You can see how poor the average person is in Thailand. And a car like that in Thailand actually costs much more than that car costs in the US because of all the taxes. Him getting away with this is a slap in the face to the average Thai person.

I saw in an article a few days ago they paid the family of the cop about the equivalent of $93,000 USD. That was enough for the family to not pressure the cops. But many are still mad that the police didn't keep going

He admitted to the crime, tested positive for drugs and alcohol, tried to cover it up by getting one of his house employees to admit to driving the car, how on earth was the case dropped. Regarding TCP, yes he hasn't held titles (yet) but his family runs the company. Money rules Thailand, not the royal family, not the government, it's better off taking the law into your own hands over here it's sad but that's what locals are coming to realise.
