Walmart makes good staple items that wash well and look better with age. I have a few percale summer blouses that I’ve had for years and work so well with jeans and casual skirts and shorts. Your thrift stores are really nice.
18 for a pair of Nike sweats? Heck no!! I remember when they first opened the Nike store after the rona they had 30% off the entire store plus an additional 20% my sister got her husband one pair of Nike sweats and one running jogger for 17 bucks each. I got myself 2 tshirts for 24 dollars You find good things but they are much more than I’m willing to pay those are plato closet prices for me (I’m in the us)

I always donate when i go thrifting salvation army or value village some of the prices are ridiculous especially when they see a brand new tag with the original price but i still find steals when someone in the store messed up.
I went thrifting yesterday and got two pairs of jeans for $14!!! One pair were $100 lucky brand jeans 🍀 and the other were current/ elliot! $245 dollar jeans for $7!! I love thrifting 😍

Dang. Your thrift stores are so good. Mine are pretty bad and they are dangerous to go to. I was there yesterday and the manager came to the front without a mask on. The elderly ladies working the register asked her if they really still had to wear masks there and the manager told them that they were supposed to because they are a business but that they DIDN’T HAVE TO! So after that they were all walking around without masks on and when I went to check out they had them around their neck. Mind you I live in WI in a county that is in the top 4 in the entire US right now for increasing cases of COVID. I am so sad. It’s gotten to the point here where I don’t feel comfortable going ANYWHERE. That thrift store was literally the only place that I have been going because previously they had been good about everything.
Those Thrift Store prices are RIDICULOUS! When you are at a thrift store and the items are more expensive than some fast fashion prices you know there is a major problem. Thrift stores should never be "PRICEY" The whole purpose of a thrift store is to sell clothes at a cheaper price than fast fashion companies do and offer an affordable option for those in dire need or those who are trying to shop more ethically. This is the exact reason I DO NOT support Big Business Thrift Stores (Example: Value Village, Goodwill, Salvation Army) They all took advantage of the sudden surge in Thrifting popularity and hacked up their prices. It was a text book Supply and Demand situation that happens at any regular capitalist company. These "Charities" are scam artists no better that Walmart or Amazon. It's sad how these Thrift Stores have become capitalist companies that do not care about anything else other than making a profit. It's SICKENING considering they are getting rich off of donations and the generosity of the community. I apologize for ranting but this is just a subject that makes me so angry because I know how it can hurt those in need. When Thrift stores like VV or SA roll into town and jack up the prices they are directly harming families in need. Winter items like jackets, bras and under garments, children's clothing, home and kitchen products are all items in particular that are ESSENTIAL and a huge obstacle for families in poverty to find. Poverty in North America is VERY REAL and Thrift stores USE to be the one place that provided all of these items for the lowest price possible. Thrift stores also give families in need the opportunity to have a normal shopping experience. Many people in poverty are ashamed to receive hand outs and donations because they are embarrassed they can't provide those items for themselves. Thrift stores were a middle ground a way charities could still help those in need but those people have their dignity restored with a normal shopping experience. For example finding winter coats for each family member every winter season can quickly become VERY expensive. A winter coat should never be a luxury especially where I am from (Canada brrrrr) but not all families can afford to supply winter coats for each member or child except at the thrift store. and the fact that thrift stores have coats for $50 and up is very frighting. Thrift stores shouldn't be competing with fast fashion when it comes to prices. Why do you think people go to thrift stores in search of items like coats...because they can't afford anywhere else! Not to mention jacked up prices deters newbies from using thrift stores as a way to shop ethically, takes away business form smaller local thrift stores and exploits those who are already thrift for environmental and ethical reasons. My advice is when possible avoid large chain thrift stores and instead support smaller local community run thrift stores. Support those thrift stores run by the grandmas sewing club or the thrift stores in the basement of the old church in your town. Smaller local thrift stores are non profit they are actual charities and your money is way more likely to go where it actually belongs. Do you Research into thrift companies like Value Village you may be shocked to discover they bring in a 1 BILLION DOLLER PROFIT every year and have been caught even sent to court over deceptions about how much of that 1 BILLION DOLLER net worth actually goes to charities. Unfortunately even in the thrifting world we as shoppers need to be educated and careful about where we thrift. There are greedy people littered all over the world who will use every outlet possible to take advantage of others for personal gain.
Thrift stores know about resellers and the huge mark up they make. Why wouldn’t they want to make more too? people buy something for 15.00 and resell them for 100.00 as an example. Then resellers complain about thrift store prices! VV is very dodgy but everyone drops their ethics and shops there. Everyone is out to make a buck sadly.

All the thrift stores have doubled their prices because people are buying clothes in there and selling them online for more money so the stores want to get their cut too
I don't understand how these stores are so organized. My goodwill is literally just separated by women's and men's, and pants and shirts. the rest is a free for all lol
My salvo here in Ohio prices the same way. They also get all kinds of new stuff from Zara and charge crazy prices for all of it. I hate going there now. 🤦🏼♀️
I'm not sure how it works where you live, but you should try to find smaller town salvation armies or goodwills! I live in the middle of nowhere, but at my goodwills, they have a flat rate for each type of item. I've been able to find vintage Levi's for $6! Your haul friggin slaps btw!
