Hey there I am from Alberta originally and lived in Calgary. It is gorgeous you will love it - the mountains are unbelievable. If you choose NW Calgary you are very close to Canmore and can get to Banff in under an hour and 20 minutes. And Lake Louise is unreal. I had a hard time when I first came to Toronto - it was very overwhelming for me but to be honest the career opportunities for me were pretty amazing. Now I am a city girl. Calgary is a great place to raise a family, and the people are super friendly! It is a beautiful city.
