Exactly how my Momma taught me how to make it,, minus the garlic, and she sautéed a little sweet pepper along with the celery and onions. She was born on Harrimon Tennessee, but moved to Chattanooga, when she was 9 years old, but came up here to Indianapolis Indiana with my Dad and raised all six of us kids.

Hi Ms. Chris i found your channel about 2 years ago. My mom use to make the best cornbread dressing and i still follow her recipe. This year i made one recupera change and all I can say is Ms. Chris you done changed my life. In your recipe you baked chicken thighs sesioned, them, covered with aluminum foil (no water added) i added chicken broth and 1 stick of butter and baked them in the oven on low heat until done. I poured all my chicken jueces and droppings in a sealed glass container and kept it in the fridge for 3 days. When i added all that chicken drippings to my cornbread and baked my dressing in the oven. I tasted a little and all i can say is HOT DAM!! This is the best dressing I have ever eaten. Ms. Chris i had planned to freeze half of for my Christmas dinner we unfinished it all. Breakfast and lunch we ate dressing. I will be making it again for Christmas 2021. You are the best. Nobody can touch you.
your Banana pudding recipe has changed the game. You are so right using half and half gives the pudding a richer tate. I frost my banna pudding with homemade whipping cream. Thank you for taking the time to creaste such great recipe. I love your down home personality.

I wish I had someone to teach me these things growing up, but I have been teaching myself how to do everything since I started living on my own at 15. I've done pretty ok, but my food as been a lot better since I started watching you. Thank you, Ma'am!

Edited to add: this was the most delicious and moist dressing I’ve had. Will be making it like this for now on. Thank you again! 😋

Chris, I get so excited watching you cook! I've told you before, you cook just like my mother cooked! You are not just a wonderful cook, but you teach people how to cook, and I love it! It's one thing to tell someone how to cook a recipe but to show they is another thing.

Ms Chris have you ever used fresh turkey tails to make your broth for your dressing? I boil the tails with onion & garlic powder, onion soup mix, Tony Cachere Cajun seasoning, sage and poultry seasoning, chunks of the following green peppers, celery and onion for flavor. The turkey tails release enough flavorful fat that will eliminate having to add cooking oil to your dressing. I also use my mini chopper to finely chop my peppers, onions and celery which sort of purees them and I add that and additional seasoning to my cornbread mix BEFORE baking. After baking the cornbread I strain the veggies off the turkey tail broth and mix the broth into the cornbread to make my dressing. I don't use any additional bread or toast nor the Stove Top stuffing bc I have hypertension and it contains much too much sodium for me.

I like how you added the Stove Top stuffing and the Jiffy corn muffin mix to your corn bread stuffing. Those are family favorites to give a little more flavor. I liked how you said too much sage makes it a green color and the poultry seasoning makes it more brown color. It looks so good!

LOL, thought I was the only one to use jiffy, I do 1/2 box and it does wake up the flavor. Funny thing is, if u don't tell anyone, they rave and ask ur secret and if u tell, their psyche takes over then they judge...I never tell and some cooks don't realize a little sugar wakes up the flavor of food as well as cheese does in some of my secret dishes... Thanks Chris

Ms. Chris, Ms. Chris, I love your videos! You feel like family..... I made this recipe last Thanksgiving and it was amazing!
I had someone ask me the difference between dressing and stuffing. So I researched and found out dressing is a slave tradition brought from Africa. Imagine my amazement!!! When you told me to save the old cornbread I almost cried. I felt so honored last Thanksgiving as I carried on my heritage. You brought me full circle. I felt like I was cooking in the kitchen with my auntie and she was passing down a family tradition......I can't thank you enough.

Let me start by saying thank you for teaching me how to make homemade dressing. After the elders in my family started getting old and transitioning, most of them took their recipes with them. You explained everything so thoroughly my dressing is now the talk of the family . I've been assigned to making dressing for every holiday now. You're the reason my family's face lights up at the dinner table. God bless you always . Happy holidays to you and yours. Christmas 2023.

I'm super picky when it comes to dressing and the way you just dud it is exactly how I'm used to it looking when its done( moist and not green in color from too much sage). The only thing is, I do use bell peppers cut up really small with the celery and onions. I've never had it with carnation milk.. I'm willing to try it though

I love it. Thank you so much Chris. I just started following and watching a lot of different pages and I like yours because you not only show us the ingredients, you are quick with instructions and you also show us how the food is supposed to look at the end. I'm 54 years old and I was never able to learn how to cook with my grandparents or my mom. But I've been the cook in the family because I watched my mom cook from afar off, standing i the hallway.🤣 Don't get me wrong, I DO know how to cook but a lot I was self taught or used recipes. It's such a joy to watch your page because there are things that I was never able to learn and I feel like I'm in my Grandma's Kitchen learning how to cook even better than I do already! Thank you Jesus for Y.O.U.
