Oh man! That would have made for a much shorter video. 🤣 We almost never intend to answer such a question for people, but rather give them the information so they can decide for themselves. Where do you stand on Heavy Rain? Did you need it?
@@meeple The extra tracks are nice but the base game itself is so big that I barely scratched the surface of everything in it. Since I don’t need to play with more than the maximum players allowed in the base game and I don’t really have a need for the wet surfaces mechanic, it only boils down to ‘is two extra maps worth it?’. For me, that is a no.
My group and I love heat but we feel like days of wonder cheaped out on the expansion. They should have give you cardboard cut out of rain to preexisting map to over lay onto the tuns, should have given you new AI cards to incorporate the extra car, sticker to put onto the map they want you to draw on bc I will not draw on my base game.
Unless I’m missing something you’d have to play as orange exclusively to do a single player 7 car race. I thought it would be fun to add orange as a legendary but it’s not on the original cards. Thinking now I could have replaced an original color but would have to remember each legendary card flip. Not the end of the world but a little disheartening. New maps are always nice!
True, not the biggest of deals. I wonder if they will address it with the next expansion though. Remembering to replace two colors would be a bit more annoying. Not a deal breaker of course just wish they would provide for those options for the cost of the expansion.
While I like the new cooling mechanism I think I would have preferred just a map pack at a cheaper price (or more than one). Also disappointed we didn't get new AI cards with the orange color. Hopefully once the final car comes out we get a new set of cards with all of them.
Usually don’t buy expansions. Most games have enough replay ability. There are exceptions though. Wingspan comes to mind. Why? Acres and Acres of more tweety birds with no new funky rules or mechanics! Another was New Bedford. It was half of a game. You had to get the expansion to get the complete gaming experience of New Bedford. I liked your review because you answer the questions many have when they have a base game. What will it bring to the table? Is it easy to integrate?
Correct me if I am wrong, but what you are saying is you are huge fans of the game but didn’t even play the expansion before making a review video? That seems kinda backwards.
Ryan is a huge fan. Me, less so. But this isn't a review. We're simply going through what the expansion brings to the table, and how it changes/enhances the game. We do less reviews (in the strict sense) on the channel because I think just about every game out there is great for someone. I strongly dislike some of the most popular games on the market, and I love some that some other people don't really care about. So given all that, we mostly try to inform people about games, celebrate the excitement we all have for the hobby in general, and make videos about all of that. 😁
@@meeple got it. Thanks for the clarification. I just thought it was odd you were talking about the game without playing it, despite owning it. Obviously you should do whatever you want for your channel. It is your labor and love going into it.
Heavy Rain - Do You Need It? Spoilers: they haven’t played it, and their answer is ‘if you like Heat you’ll probably get it’.

I just bought this today! Pretty excited to learn and play it a lot.
Hope you enjoy it!
"It adds new >mechanics< to the game." I see what you did there, David.

Great video. You two were hitting on all cylinders.
Do I need it?

Ah, that is what I was wondering, from what you said that there is no new AI deck....😢
Or the orange can take the color you have?!

I got it for the new maps, the extra player, and the new garage cards

Do we “need” any boardgame?
No, we don't. But buy mine cause I need to eat.
No, but we want them all. 😂
Yes
