  • Recent events with Covid-19 have led to lots of folks purchasing their first firearm. If you're new to shooting, welcome! This video is meant to be an introduction to gun ownership with some safety tips and an overview of how striker-fired, semi-automatic pistols work. We're demonstrating this on an MR920 fresh out of the box.

    Trevor, as the son of a gun collector who started shooting a Ruger 22 at age 3, and having had firearms safety drilled into my DNA since that time, I've had a lifelong relationship with the gun culture, yet never actually built or purchased a firearm myself. Every single firearm I've ever owned until last week have been birthday, Christmas, college graduation, confirmation gifts, given to me by my father. He is a big Colt single action, wild west kinda guy, best friends with quick draw champion Bob James out of Arizona. Ive personally owned a Colt AR-15, an over/under Winchester Shotgun, a couple Ruger and Smith and Wesson pistols, an HK 93 antique with the stock bipod included, and an early Glock 19 from the early 90's. My point is that I'd never actually purchased a firearm that I chose myself, let alone built out a customized gun to my specific tastes. In the last several years I decided that I needed a modern, reliable, totally customized, collectors piece that I'd use for an EDC, while also approaching this process like a car collector might build a 63' Chevy Impala that you want to cruise just for show. I decided I'd build out a modern Glock style gun with only the best aftermarket parts. I didn't want to compromise on any aspect of it, because knowing me IF I added anything that wasn't the best, it would eat at me until I replaced it with what I thought of was the very best, in my opinion. It's expensive enough buying modifications and upgrades the first time around, and I knew buying parts twice would be too costly and a waste of money. I had noticed the Shadow Systems slides and later, full guns themselves and I understood that although considerably more expensive than a standard Glock, that buying a Shadow Systems firearm would be much more cost efficient rather than building out the entire thing piece by piece. So I started saving my money every paycheck. After a couple weeks of eating Ramen noodles at home and not wasting my discretionary income on anything, I had enough to buy the most affordable "Combat" weapons, but I stuck to my guns (no pun intended) and practiced patience and discipline and waited until I had the money needed to purchase the model I considered the best commercially available but extremely pimped out choice. I went and did the paperwork background check and left with the MR920L Elite with the bronze unthreaded barrel. By the way, the directional serrations on the top of the Elite model slides, and the window cutouts for weight reduction that conveniently shows off the pimped out twisted barrel, is really what drew me to this particular gun, amongst a million other unique things that are performance based and not simply for aesthetics. Next I held off on the Steam lights, the O Lights, etc, and copped the Surefire X300B weapon light. Then I struck gold and found Sportsmans Warehouse had the Trijicon RMRcc on sale for 450 bucks, which was surprising considering that Trijicons own website was selling it for $699. So far, no compromises. Then I went for the appropriate black camo T-Rex Sidecar 2 with the Nova Belt and thigh strap (again both in black camo) for when I'm open carrying at the range, and the waistband clip for when I'm concealing out in the world amougst the easily offended, gun fearing, WOKE, anti-2A SJW'S who couldn't handle knowing there was this much heat so close to their hypersensitive "feelings.". Anyways, I just wanted to say "thank you" for working so hard and bringing this vision to fruition, so that people like me can build out something that's a perfect product for what it is, and although its not cheap or inexpensive in any way, it's still something that a regular dude can own that's an Aston Martin or Bugatti of the gun world. This is a hobby, passion, collectable that I'm able to shine in. Don't own a mansion or a Gulfstream 2, but I own a Shadow Systems Elite model that dripping with steeze. I feel important. Not really but sort of. I appreciate and want to thank you for making an elite product that you don't have to take out a 2nd mortgage to be involved with and own. You guys are killing It! Much respect and One Love.

    Just picked up mr920 combat. I’m new to the pistol optics world and I was wondering if the Burris fastfire III will work on the optic cut and what shim is needed?

    • @ShadowSystemsCorp
      @ShadowSystemsCorp  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Zach. Unfortunately, the Burris Fastfire is very long overall. The screw holes are in the right place, but Burris made the sight so long that we wouldn't have had room for a rear mounted rear sight which is what we wanted. Unfortunately, it won't fit.

    Besides proper gun handling and heavy trigger pull, are there any other internal safety features to prevent accidental discharge (like if the pistol was dropped)?

    • @ShadowSystemsCorp
      @ShadowSystemsCorp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Many! The safety in the trigger prevents pulling of the trigger from inertia in the event the gun is dropped and lands on the back of the slide. The drop safety in the trigger housing prevents release of the striker from inertia if it contacts muzzle first. As a last resort, the firing pin safety blocks firing pin movement unless the trigger is pulled. Trevor

    • @ShadowSystemsCorp
      @ShadowSystemsCorp  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Eli. The pistols are generally are compatible with anything that fits in a Gen4. There are a few exceptions, but they are mostly related to the frame (backstraps, magwell, etc.). As an aside, we cannot warrant the function of our pistol with anything other than Shadow Systems parts.
