Messi won everything there is to win. His legacy is unmatched, not only in football, but in all of sports. But he deserves a better team in Inter Miami. Please, build a better team around him so he could compete for all trophies.

Before you guys talk like that, you need to understand the structure of the league (MLS). It's a hard cap league which means that teams have a limited amount of cash they can spend on players. So, to build a strong team around Messi is very difficult. Too many rules that hinder a team like Inter Miami to bring great players to play alongside Messi. The MLS just softened a few rules that will give teams more freedom to bring more players. I'm sure Inter Miami will take full advantage of that.

Relegation will kill the sport in American business model. No one will invest in teams if they have fear of relegation and losing income. 2nd tier soccer is almost ignored by fans. If this sport grows bigger and grassroots accepts it then maybe relegation/promotion will work.

MLS is getting more and more popular and you do see more young kids in America making 'soccer' their prefered choice. However, it's going to take a long time to become the no.1 sport in the USA and be able to compete on the same level as the top European leagues. I can see soccer in the USA reach it's peak in a few years time and then, due to the slow growth, rapidly decline in popularity like it always does.
The fact is that most of America just isn't interested in soccer and never will be.

But the culture and competitiveness of the national leagues and european comps (ucl, euro and conference league) is beyond reach. Kids in the US choose to play basketball, american football, baseball and then maybe football. In almost every other country football is the first choice and playing it in europe is the dream. yall cant replicate culture just with money.

Look into Mastec, horrifying stories of Corporate Corruption, Corporate Looting, destroying small sub-contractors, Illegal Dumping of Hazardous Waste on Innocent People and the icing on the cake, MasTec’s founder and his successors terrorist activities, mafioso tactics.

What a naive vision. He wants to have 15 of the best 100 players of the world in the league in the post Messi area. Yet in the Messi era they cannot attract a second top 100 player. Maybe the US socialist league system is not successful in attracting good players. I will see it coming that the league will be proudcof Reus coming this summer. But he is maybe a top 1000 player of the world but very far from the top 100 anymore. The MLS is healthy and grows economically, but they will never catch up with the Championship or 2. Bundesliga. Maybe the Russian Premier League, or Bundesliga Austria. But Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands have way better leagues when it comes to player quality because the best teams can sign the best players they want. They dont have ti care about salary cabs and such.

I think it is a more inclusive sport, you realistically can't go pro in the nba or in the NFL if you're below 6'1-6'2 and you need to be heavy, soccer is more about skill than it is about height or weight.
