Perfect cockpit, beautiful saloon, cozy and effective owner stateroom, nice looking cabinetry, beautiful rigging, the only thing I can see wrong is the lifeline needing replacement. What a great boat for $25k. Old man envy in full swing here.
So far of all your videos, this is my favorite. What a boat, huge cockpit, flush deck and great interior layout. Wonderful lines, a true yacht if there ever was.
Oh Captain, my Captain! I HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE with this beauty. If I were a younger man I would hop on it and buy it. But at 84 I will be captive by its beauty and charm and admire it afar from Ft. Lauderdale. So good to view Sea Dog with a home like this. Thank you for giving an old man such a sweet dream. You and Randy are The Best!
She's as pretty inside as she is on the outside!!! What a classic and like new! Awesome!! Thanks to both of you as always a great video! Stay safe and healthy guys🙏
25k for a ready to go little cruiser is amazing. Its like nobody has a good excuse not to get sailing today .add a small diesel stove and you could go off season New England sight seeing. Dreaming out loud.....another gem .
@@YachtHunters I'm off to check out that video! Ericson 28+ and a winter project is installing a sea swing for cooking on passages. Always better to run through all the ideas one can before drilling a hole in a boat.
When I show people an opening of the Capt Q episode of the week, I always tell them with pride, like a young child, "Hey I was at the helm of that boat with Capt Q and Ran-day last Father's Day!"
I've had the pleasure of sailing on this boat. Let me tell you, it is ALL THAT! Her fine captain entertained many guests in that spacious and comfortable cockpit, gracing Narragansett Bay with her powerful cutter rig, The sheets are easy to handle, and the helm is light and responsive as she drives to windward. It is such a handsomely crafted vessel and so well cared for, I told the skipper it was a museum class boat, a description Cap'n Q used also.
I saw this boat (or one just like her...) tied up in Portsmouth, NH, back in the 80s. She has such a different - and very clean - look, that I couldn't work out what she was... In its own way, this boat is exotic. I was shocked to see here that she was an Ericson - not that Ericson doesn't build nice boats. She's just so not a part of a "line" of boats that share design and finish details...
Louis Sullivan is my favorite architect. I'm glad to hear him referenced! He did a lot of beautiful things, and that quote was about trying to find an American style of architecture after so much echoed from other places in unimpressive and simply derivative ways. I'm a nerd. This boat has a lot of DNA relating it to Thomas Gillmer's Blue Moon... my cockpit is so so similar. Raised deck 'midships, but this lil guy has a sweep on that bulwarks like a Stone Horse. NOICE. It's got me! -Anne
Our friend had one of these and bragged about having the largest cockpit in the marina. Such a beautiful boat and yes, this boat can take heavy weather and clip along nicely.
While I'm wishing for things, I wouldn't mind the boat being a bit longer, and having things for long distance cruising, like a water maker, etc., but that is only because, in virtually every way, shape, and form, this is my DREAM BOAT! So attractive, so well built, love the historic air about her, her lines, the set-in cabin access, aft cabin, staysail-ready, just Perfect!
I am just absolutely flabbergasted by this boat! Truly magnificent. Thank you, Captain and Ran-day, for sharing it with us. This boat just moved to the top of my wish list.
What a stunning, exceptionally well kept little vessel with an amazing aft cabin that looks like something from a much larger than 36' yacht. I love everything about it but the galley but that wouldn't be to hard to redesign. The engine access is amazing albeit a little under powered for my liking but then again she is an extremely capable sailor from the look of things. If I had the 25k I'd already be in the process of making this my new cruising boat as I bet she'd be a dream to bomb around on in the Bahamas. Thanks for the tour as always and you gents always find the coolest yachts out there...
Cheers and another viewer commented that they had the same engine in a much heavier boat so you might be surprised how well she gets along with it… but each to their own. Glad you enjoyed it as much as we did
@@YachtHunters Yes I saw that comment so I'd be very comfortable taking her out. I just don't think I'd be willing to fight high currents but then again from what the other viewer said she may be just fine...
These videos are why I love this show! What a beautiful boat! I love how you guys get in every nook and cranny, not sure if I like the beauty of the boats, or the knowledge I gain from every episode more. Thank you! P.S. bonus points were given by my wife because of the proximity to her hometown!
I don't know when I found you channel, but I'm glad I did. It's a pleasure to learn while you discuss all of these wonderful boats with a little fun humor and a jazzy attitude. Thanks
I almost fell out of my seat when I saw this week’s episode. I just bought one of these beauties last winter and sailed her all season. She just got hauled out for the winter. I can confirm, they are a dream to sail. I have a lot of work to do to get mine in to this condition. Many have asked about steering and dealing with the throttle. By standing to the front or side of the helm you can steer, operate the main sheet and deal with dock lines without getting the knobs of the wheel hooked on your clothes or safety gear. “Why not just have a tiller?”, some have asked? It’s largely due to operational space. If you have company in the cockpit, you are going to be whacking people in the head when operating the barn-door sized rudder with a tiller. It is certainly an unconventional design. But, it it is quite practical. Originally, they came available with a little seat that sat on top of the box that contains the steering mechanism. I have only seen one 36C that still has that little seat.
She is a real gem she has style inside and out .And that engine WOW super clean and you can reach everything .And that helm area is to die for .she has every thing you need and nothing more .looking at the out side you would never guess how wonderful the interior is .Sailing all day and relaxing in the evening in comfort now that's what life should be all about .and her price ? that's a steal .
I have helmed the Fazisi (sometimes with 6 for more than a week) and no matter the weather, what I missed on many other boats, no matter the size, was mast - line of sight - LED displays. Usually mounted low just below my foremost bow deck line angle. (I see all there, for me) Or higher on the mast pointed down to lower on the helm than in my direct line of sight. Everything(!) in LARGE bright, straight-line, middle-of-line helm/wheel hub-centered projected displays. Never had to take my eyes away or blink at night for the change from the display lights to the next course adjustment - out there. Simplicity is everything on a 24-hour helm team - especially at night in steep rollers/storms. Watch way far out in a Maxi, you will be there before you think. And I love the need for speed - even at 2 up, 4 down, on a 4-hour rotation. Oh to be young again. but damn, windburn is a good thing
I own one of the rare 39b Ericsons, but this boat is just Classy and incredible condition. I would swap any day of the week. Hello from New Zealand 🇳🇿.

We've seen many nice boats, but this one is the special one for me, and it's the first episode I watched over and over again. If I would live in the USA, I'll buy it
Only $25k for this beauty?! Why am I looking at more expensive boats? What a cockpit! A little work (lifelines, galley redesign, propane compartment, etc.) is all she needs to be absolutely perfect. I imagine you'd be the belle of the ball wherever you sailed. Now I just need to figure out how to steer it. :) Thank you both for opening my eyes and assuring me that owning a beautiful boat doesn't have to break the bank.
OH my goodness oh my goodness, oh my goodness. Like what C3PO says in one of those star wars episodes: ~~~ "I am beside myself" ~~~ and I definitely do not have a "bad feeling about this." (Not like what Harrison Ford said.). Wow. just Wow! What a treat you guys offer. Nothin to say. Just typing. Enough. On and on and on. Wow.
This is the best one yet for both design and value. This is the one Ran-day should have bought. Love everything about it. Thanks for letting us see it. 🐟
you're right, it's a fantastic value... it's a super boat and for $25k you'll be hard pressed to find something better. I was looking for a little more of a project boat that I could learn more of the systems and modify it to a go-anywhere kind of boat.... this boat needs very little!! ;)

Bought the designers boat hull #3, and getting her ready to go from Milwaukee to Houston, down the Mississippi. She is a fixer upper, that should have a couple of months of refurb, well a week and Rehal, as we power down the river. Pray for me.
What a cute boat! That’s perfect for a liveaboard if you’re not too big or tall and have time for a little bit of maintenance older boats inevitably need but wow! Very pretty! ❤
Well Crap! Here ya go. I'm thinking that I'll watch "Just one more" of your oh so amazing boat "tours." So "not gonna lie". I was just overwhelmed with the idea of "enjoyment." Yea I was thinking "I am really enjoying this video" ~ probably kudos to Randall. ~ So I make a decision to pop on down to make a comment about feeling "enjoyment." Much to my surprise there, lo and behold, is my comment, says 7 months ago, with an "Oh my goodness" ~ not once but three times. Must be the ballroom dancing. ✨😉✨
Oh yea.... Chalk this one up to my "short term memory" ~ which is "waining". Oh well. I remember this as you talk about the tuck in the offset cockpit entrance. All so good. Yes. On and on and on. Thank you so much for all that you guys do. ✨♥✨
I've been watching since episode #1and this boat has a beautiful... captivating look (not counting the PB of course) that will make someone a happy sailor! When you rank this season's boats this has got to be in the top three (3). Happy sails.
Captain my captain. Thursday already and a classic Ericson. Lovely old girl. I will totally buy this when I win this week's Powerball now worth over 1.5 billion dollars. Heck I might even spring for dinner with Captain Q and Randay. Hot dogs ok with you guys? God bless and have a great weak.
I love this boat Capt Q. I often think of sailing from Boston Harbor to Rockland, Maine in something like this. This boat also looks like a much larger version of a Stone Horse 23!
My dad had the exact same boat in San Diego down to the blue trim stripe. I sent a lot of time on it, the v berth was my home. The steering system was different in my dad's, the wheel was mounted on a pedestal in the center of the cockpit sole. I think the system here is better, more direct. I like the emergency tiller receptacle too. His head the Volvo 3cyl diesel I believe. The ceiling was teak stripping, not naugahyde. The V berth had the filler piece with a fitted cushion. It made the V berth gigantic. Really enjoyed this video!
Definitely one of my favorites.. ditch the wheel n go rudder .. gotta be a better way to just mount a multi control up top... Love this boat.. what a steal.. maybe you show his whole design collection?
Surely you have a couple of GREAT sponsors by now, right? One for food and the other for a certain liquid. Congratulations... right! 🤔 Thumb up no matter what.
Beautiful! I agree, function would follow form here. A floating work of art, and at a price that puts it closer to reality than fantasy. One problem, I don't have enough friends to fill the cockpit (or would they come with it??)!
I bet this boat is already sold. It certainly looks like a great boat at a very reasonable price. I was quite surprised at size and comfort of the cockpit and belowdecks. If I was in the market, I would be all over this boat.
@@YachtHunters I figured that boat would sell rather quickly. Great boat at an equally great price. Your videos are excellent. Please keep up the good work!
Nice boat. I thought it was going to be a little wanting in headroom but that's not the case. The woodwork is awesome. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
What a magnificent yacht. How can this Beauty be only 25k? Btw both your voices are so comforting to listen to. Production value of the videos are easily 40+ on the Captain's scale. Greetings from Holland
This is everything that I ever wanted in a boat. Perfect. Just so sorry I'm not able to move forward to her. Thank you for showing her. I know she won't last long. One thing what condition is the fuel tank's in.
Very nice boat. The boat is very pretty and beautifully maintained. This particular boat looks like a development of the flush decked Ericson 39. The sail plan seems to be a hybrid between a modern high aspect main with a small self tacking jib in that the main is relatively high aspect, but it still supports a big genoa. The boat should sail nicely in a bit of wind with the staysail alone. The beam is extreme for a 36 footer of that vintage. It makes my 11' beam Allied 36 look svelte and that is saying something. That boat is a real tank though at nearly 3,000 lbs more than my Allied 36's 14,400 lbs. The propane "locker" and the fuel tank are both issues that will need to be addressed since either will cause the boat to fail survey. Using an apparently unsecured, above decks, "gas" tank below decks is an absolute no no. So that tank has to go. A small day tank is a good idea, but the implementation is really bad. Such a tank either needs its own on deck fill or to be plumbed to the main tank with a transfer pump. The same goes for the propane which needs to be in a sealed locker with an overboard vent out the bottom of the locker if it is below decks. I would also install a primary fuel filter since changing the on engine filter in a seaway is pretty much impossible without making a big mess. Incidentally comparing that steering system to an Edson worm gear is an apples and grapefruit comparison. The only similarity is the aft oriented steering shaft. I also do not like the long unsupported shaft that leads to the wheel. If someone falls against that wheel it could bend that shaft which would make steering the boat interesting at best.
Great way to present a gorgeous boat. There’s a small detail that I would like to point out, not necessarily negative but I notice that Ran-day’s shoes, they started matching Captain Q’s suspenders… very ship-y
OK, it wasn't at all evident in the video, and I can't imagine how this box has survived for 40ish years, but...... that shippy looking box housing the steering gear is identical to the one on the smaller sistership Independence 31. Way back in '77-'78, I chartered the 31 in Ft Lauderdale. We were supposed to go to Bimini overnight, but, it was blowing steady 25 from the NE. The square waves were too much, so, we decided to pull into Gummint Cut in Miami. Round about 2 AM, we turned west into the channel. Ya know, with the rock jetties on either side. Well, that steering equipment box decided it was time. It fell apart. The front vertical cover was fastened into the PLYWOOD sides with woodscrews INTO THE PLYS. I screamed at my brother to wake up and pull the sails down. I ran past the mast, blowing the halyards on the way. I grabbed the anchor chain, which, conveniently, had a nice knot just below the beautiful chromed hawsehole cover. That ripped out of the deck (picture Incredible Hulk) with chain and rode. First miracle: we stopped 30 feet from the south rock jetty. Called securitay, CG towed us in, left us at the Chalk's seaplane dock on the north side of the channel. Second miracle: the night watchman let me use the Chalks machine shop and supply room. I made aluminum corner brackets for the collapsed box. I repaired the box. We left at 7 AM before the Chalks people got in to work. We all lived happily ever after. Moral: Please don't ever fasten boxes together with wood screws into the edge of your plywood. Amen.
Whew!!! What a night Good note and even better recommendation We all have had things let go but never at high noon tied to the dock Glad you’re still here thank you
Beautiful and very intriguing! I wonder how she handles; I want to sail her! She is very beamy for her length which is why I would love to take her for a sail just to experience her nature. Her owner should be applauded for her incredible condition. Great find and thank you for sharing!

spot on ...
This vessel is a real Gem 💎
🌞🌴⛵️
Wow that boat is gorgeous. It has a very artistic look. Very cool and in great shape. If she were closer to my age, I would propose.
hahahahaha
Well Crap!
Happy sails.
it just might but there is serious competition this year
Of all the boats I've seen on this channel, this is my favorite.
Wow what a beautiful boat. So clean out side and so much room below decks.
Great boat at a terrific price. A few small issues and you all set to cruise the coast..really nice!!
Well said, matthew!
Hot dogs will do just fine… we’ll bring the mustard and kraut 😂
I love this boat Capt Q. I often think of sailing from Boston Harbor to Rockland, Maine in something like this. This boat also looks like a much larger version of a Stone Horse 23!
that woul be a great inaugural
What a gem! Capt, you sure know how to find them.
Thank you!
Your dad is a fortunate sailor 👍 this has been one of our most favorites through the years
What a beautiful boat, and great video!!!
Many thanks!
You are a very brave man wearing those trousers in public and on video!!!
Thank you
What an absolute gem!
Agreed
Definitely one of my favorites.. ditch the wheel n go rudder .. gotta be a better way to just mount a multi control up top... Love this boat.. what a steal.. maybe you show his whole design collection?
Surely you have a couple of GREAT sponsors by now, right? One for food and the other for a certain liquid. Congratulations... right! 🤔 Thumb up no matter what.
Hahaha not quite yet… but they have been contacted…
Beautiful!
I agree, function would follow form here. A floating work of art, and at a price that puts it closer to reality than fantasy.
One problem, I don't have enough friends to fill the cockpit (or would they come with it??)!
"if you build it they will come "
Cap'n Q is so knowledgeable! I'm amazed with every video!
Thank you Max!
I truly love your passion you really inspire me
I bet this boat is already sold. It certainly looks like a great boat at a very reasonable price. I was quite surprised at size and comfort of the cockpit and belowdecks. If I was in the market, I would be all over this boat.
it went in 37 hours a new CQ episode record
@@YachtHunters I figured that boat would sell rather quickly. Great boat at an equally great price. Your videos are excellent. Please keep up the good work!
This is exactly what I’m looking for a live aboard when i Move back to Ventura California . New Subscriber 👍
At only $25,000? Wow, what a lovely boat!
This boat is the biggest steal of any boat you ever reviewed
Fair… great boat… and awesome bang for buck
Great boat! I have the same engine and it pushes My 38' steel cutter just right.
That’s great to know! Thanks mark
Nice boat. I thought it was going to be a little wanting in headroom but that's not the case. The woodwork is awesome. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Thanks JL… we figured you might like this one 👍
Dinty Moore stew must be very popular with boat people.
Capt'Q and Randee strike again. Gorgeous vessel. These are even prettier in person than they are in video. A steal at $25K
Agreed!
She's really lovely - gorgeous boat!
Superb! Looks like there may be a bidding war!
dont know but someone bought it before the mega bucks was awarded
My favorite of all the boats you have reviewed to date.
Thanks
First time I have noticed Ran Day's red and green shoes - port and starboard. Excellent! You guys are awesome.
Helps him get them on the correct feet
Usually
wow, that's a pretty boat... very elegant interior design. smart
What a magnificent yacht. How can this Beauty be only 25k? Btw both your voices are so comforting to listen to. Production value of the videos are easily 40+ on the Captain's scale. Greetings from Holland
That’s very kind of you JC! That was perhaps the best deal of all time on our channel. What a craft!!
This is everything that I ever wanted in a boat. Perfect. Just so sorry I'm not able to move forward to her. Thank you for showing her. I know she won't last long. One thing what condition is the fuel tank's in.
reported to be good...owner just didnt want to cart aound allthat fuelwhen all he needed was enough to get uner sail
Look forward to these every Thursday night, thanks for another great one!
Thank you Zac!
Man I love this boat… very unique.
Agreed! 👍
If someone falls against that wheel it could bend that shaft which would make steering the boat interesting at best.
interesting concerns but remember this boat has been around for 40 plus years as is for the most psrt thank you for your note
Spot on martin
What a great boat. I will have to keep that in mind.
Great way to present a gorgeous boat. There’s a small detail that I would like to point out, not necessarily negative but I notice that Ran-day’s shoes, they started matching Captain Q’s suspenders… very ship-y
Yes indeed!
Those shoes got a lot if screen time too.
Thats the Ran ~man : ship-y !!
Very interesting boat! Hard to get bored with that. Not a cookie cutter.
more like a birthday cake cutter for this guy yum
Classic and i'm not talking about the boat :) thank you guys beautiful form and function sailing vessel.
Hahaha thanks very much!
I'm really really happy 😉 ! Very very nice boat, my quote was 38 👍
Plus nav station 😂
Amen.
Whew!!! What a night Good note and even better recommendation
We all have had things let go but never at high noon tied to the dock
Glad you’re still here thank you
This looks like a lightly used and never abused boat. Quite a beauty!
Well said, Donna!!
I agree, it’s insane that this is a ‘77
One of my favorites so far! Love the channel and you guys
Thank you sir Atom!!
Could have a serious party in that cockpit Captain, lovely yacht.Great layout on her.
just be sure youre anchored or tied to the dock "-)
@@YachtHunters Yes sir.sound advice
In my area of Florida , any boat at only 25,000 would be a major fixer upper. If you were given the boat , it still cost you to much.
Nice boat!!!! Thank you Capi Q, we learn a lot from you, love classic boats!! Cheeers from Perú!!!!!!
Thank you all in Peru for watching ...hope to visit there someday
Overall could be my fav boat of all time, regardless of size.
You and Walter Schulz (Shannon boat company founder) agree 👍
There are Ericsons all over the bay area but i've never seen one like this!
What a handsome boat. Maybe your best find yet.
Thanks!
These videos should be in the library of congress just for the doccumentation of the history of the sailing industry alone
thank you for the flattery.....dont stop hahaha
Beautiful and very intriguing! I wonder how she handles; I want to sail her! She is very beamy for her length which is why I would love to take her for a sail just to experience her nature. Her owner should be applauded for her incredible condition. Great find and thank you for sharing!
My thoughts exactly
My favorite so far. Thanks
