I wish there were more videos like this with the creation of the beat, to the vocals, to the editing, mixing and mastering, all that. I wanna see how Dancehall artists make their music
Wow the other day I was thinking that from I head the cartoon Riddim in school it sounded so different and I would go to school telling my friends this bad!! They didn’t get it then but I knew this producer was different and to see his growth and where he’s at now and definitely believe he would reach far… and I will go as far to say he is going to be the greatest producer this world has seen.. skillfully talented. The great di Genius. 🎶
I grew up listening to his riddims. You had to be there to understand what he did to dancehall during those years. Favourite riddim from his is After Dark and Catalog!
Dancehall particularly this beat cook up is very rnb leaning. Adding the effects I guess makes it dancehall but the overall sound not so much. I think genres have borrowed from each other and the same can be said for Afro beat and rnb. The lines are being blurred somewhat in my opinion. Always love seeing cook ups I hope to to see more pure dancehall in the future. Bless
This is actually dancehall not rnb, Hiphop came from dancehall and modern day Afro beat came from dancehall, that’s why they call it Afro dancehall, this type of sound you heard in rnb came from the Caribbean, Rnb back then was more soft tone not much bounce to the beats and not these type of sounds, don’t believe me go back and listen an old RKelly song or any other old rnb..
Very inspiring video, I have lost count of the amount of times I have watched it. I was using FL Studio and Serato before, and this is the video that converted me into an Ableton producer. Di Genius makes the software looks so fun and user friendly, and it actually is quite user friendly.

Wow... I met you in the music production section of Guitar Center in Miramar/Hallandale Florida, maybe in 2007, after reading up on you being a music producer when I was in Jamaica. I just heard you say the name McGregor when you were up at the cashier, and I walked up to you and asked you if you were a music producer. When you said yes, that's when I stepped back and said, "You're Freddie McGregor's son." I bet you remember that. I'd bet good money. Now I'm seeing you using exactly the same DAW that I use! That's super cool ❤ Hailments =o)
As a Jamaican I'm telling you this guy a legend he was way a head of his time making hits from 15 years old in Jamaica definitely gifted young man
