Oh I remember Kokoi, Sarah broke down crying on national tv cause she wanted to keep him so bad but he already expressed his intention to quit so Sarah had to pick Monique who was also deserving of the semis spot btw.
Kokoi could have been TVP Season 2 Champion. Sarah cried so much during his knockout round, she wanted to bring him to the finals, but he wanted to leave the competition and go back to his normal life with his family in Boracay, so Sarah respected his decision and let him go. Tbh, it was the hardest season for her, she got the best singers in that season, where Jason Dy won , also from Team Sarah.
Kokoi sang it first before Bugoy and after this audition, the song got more popular in the Philippines.
I think each coach can have 12-15 artists in their team. But these coaches know each other very well, so they know when to really turn around. Sarah and Bamboo have the same ear for talents, so you would usually see them competing for the same artists.
He chose Sarah. Everyone thought he fits Apl best but after seeing how the impromptu jamming went (wc i hope u get to see as well), i kinda understood his choice. Observing closely, the jam was a bit rough from the start and Kokoi was having a hard time riding it, but when Sarah decided to join and did her adlibs, you can tell how Kokoi found his flow better. You can even see him pointing at her like 'yeah, right there' and actually hear him say 'good back-up' in the middle of the sesh. Overall I appreciate Apl for initiating the impromptu, Bamboo for being the first one to jump along, Lea for her bravery and adding her flair despite the difference of styles, and Sarah for lifting the sesh at the moment when it seems like it's slowing down. The entire thing was 👌

100% agree. At around the 3:17 mark on the original jam video, Sarah effortlessly picked up Kokoi's scat.

Yes. I think this audition of Kokoy singing One Day is the reason it became mainstream in PH. This video became viral. This came out first before Bugoy's and other singer's cover it.
Im so glad to have enjoyed Kokoi's music long before he went to the Voice' stage . He was a regular gig singer at Pats Bar in Boracay island.Thank u for sharing ur gift of music Kokoi

Bugoy became popular because of his song "PAANO NA KAYA" which was written in reality song writing competition in ABS-CBN (Pinoy Dream Academy) Same competition where Yeng Constantino was discovered

@@DarkR0ze nope, brownman revival was only a "one-time-bigtime" hitter and it was a NOVELTY REGGAE SONG, I prefer BLAKJAK's songs instead, but they are novelty songs that's why pinoys didn't take it seriously. But when Kokoi auditioned in THE VOICE, pinoys saw a different face of reggae especially the youth! They only knew HIPHOPS AND R&B's. And Kokoi introduce reggae to them.

this is season 2 of the voice ph i believe. lots of incredible singer, if i'm not mistaken Daryl Ong is one of the contestant and Jason Dy is the winner. one of the best season for the voice ph.🎶🎶❤️
The only time they're not allowed to turn is when they completed their teams. The recent version is much more interesting because of the "steal" button where the other judges can steal the one that wasn't chosen during the battle round. Also they have the "block" button where the fellow judges can block a specific judge so he/she will lose the opportunity to get the one auditioning to their teams. For example there was this contestant who is really good and Apl sensed that Lea will turn for her and for sure that contestant will pick Lea and Apl want that particular contestant as well.. So she blocked Lea 😁
That girl truly idolize Lea, even watched her on broadway's Once on this island.

Please react to teh second part of video where the judges jammed impromptuo with kokoi live on stage after his performance. Spoiler alert, you will see how versatile lea salonga and sarah is with regards to music genre. Kokoi joimed team sarah but had to drop out during the semis for personal reasons.
Kokoi didnt drop out...Sarah chose Monique over him.
Kokoi has become later depressed being away from his own band or group. And sarah knew this that is why his later performance was affected. That is why sarah chose another contestant.
Hands down, he would have won that season.

@@themiddlepath8685 He spoke and requested Sarah NOT to choose him. Sarah was trying to convince him to stay on. All the coaches knew his talent. Sarah cannot do anything because even if Sarah choose him, he will leave. That’s why when the time came to choose between him and Monique, Ms Lea was comforting Sarah who was crying. It was not Sarah’s choice. It was the personal choice of Kokoi which Sarah had to fulfill.

Kokoi is exactly the one y i found out abt this song. He made the song famous in the Philippines. He is a reggae singer from one of the most beautiful islands in the world, the world famous boracay. He would play live gig in the sands every night.

Especially those days when there are bars in front of the beach shore who would have their own performers. Every night...😁

Hope you could do more of the kids version because of how real and raw the talents are. Love that show especially the kids version and you can really see Lea's personality. Her being professional, funny and witty at the same time.
