Thanks for your reaction Jay and Amber. Note; it's a spiritual song, uplifting. Yah is the Hebrew name(YAHWEH) for God. Listen to the lyrics again with this understanding. The song begins with " Heavenly Father" and later tells you " reach out and call His Name ". YAH will be there for you. Love y'all energy and positivity. You have been in my prayers, Jay. Stay strong young man. YAHWEH will be there for you.

This is a great spiritual pop song. Yah/Jah/Yahweh/Jehovah is indeed there whenever you call. It's unusual for a song to have such an obviously spiritual title/theme and be a hit, especially outside the USA, but this got plenty of airplay in the UK and Ireland too.

One of my best friends is Michael McDonald's cousin, so I've seen him live many times and talked with Mike quite a bit. One of Mike's very first solo concerts was at the Universal Amphitheatre in L.A. (no longer there) and James Ingram was there. I asked about the song and what it meant. They said that Yah is short for Yahweh, meaning a higher power. Yah Mo B There simply means that whatever higher power you believe in, God or otherwise, just believe in that inner power and you can get through the hard times.
    A beautiful song!

For some great dance numbers, try "Stuff Like That" by Ashford & Simpson (1978, the full 6-minute disco version!) and two great songs by his god-daughter, Patti Austin: "Betcha Wouldn't Hurt Me" and "Razzamatazz" (from 1980). Y'all remember the scene from 40 Year Old Virgin, when the guy went crazy over hearing Michael McDonald's video always playing on the tv screens.

Another great Michael Mcdonald song is sweet freedom from a great movie running scared with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines (possibly a movie reaction choice)

Love both of these artists. You’ve done a bit of Michael McDonald, but only one other James Ingram song I believe. He has a bunch of good ones and such a good voice. One of my favorites is, ‘There’s No Easy Way’ You can hear the emotion and range of his voice in that song.

James Ingram’s and Michael Mc Donald’s best Song together, but James Ingram and Patti Austin’s duets are pure Gold…”Just Once”… “ Baby come to Me” and Personal Favourite “How do you keep the music Playing”…….and then Patti Austin one her own another Rabbit Hole especially with Quincy Jones ….

Always loved this uplifting song and so glad you finally got to it. In an interview Michael McDonald said that he wanted to record more with James Ingram, not sure why that never happened, but they did perform live together after this recording. There are so many other deeply moving James Ingram songs to continue to explore like "I Don't Have the Heart" (solo) and duets with Patti Austin "How Do You Keep the Music Playing" and "Baby Come to Me." Enjoy! :o)
