The kick is also extremely common in dozens if not hundreds of games. Again, not to lower costs, it's to prevent frustration for the other players if one person goes AFK too long or intentionally stalls the match.

I think about the WoW episode a lot, and how it was virtually impossible for a single one of them to play that game for a minute and copy paste that into 75% of the games they own and that's what they saved us from watching. I was wondering when they’d run into a game breaking bug, since this is the PC version and it’s notoriously terrible, but I didn’t think it would happen in the FIRST episode.
If idle mechanics didn't exist, we'd be waiting forever for people to just play the game. Maybe a giant in-game notification that says "Hey fucker it's your turn, use it or lose" would be helpful for players.

Yeah I've seen this happen before when Markiplier was playing with friends, it's what happens if you're inactive for slightly too long. Which, I think it scales in severity, since I THINK he was inactive just as long earlier in the episode when dealing with issues, but I think it essentially kicks you if you're inactive more than once in a game. (I mean ironically the online/PC version of the game is clearly not in favor of just playing with friends in a chill way, like how as soon as Arin made the game it started a countdown, not even letting you have time to invite people)
I like playing Monopoly with friends, but Ubisoft having publishing rights to these makes them absolutely shit. They either take animations out and there's tons of frame rate loss that makes it choppy and crap, or you can't put bots in on some systems while you can on others. Or there's actual rewards to unlock in some versions like the switch edition, while the PS4 has animations on pieces but absolutely fucking no unlockable pieces and the switch almost being objectively better because it has unique boards. These versions are all over the goddamn place & I'm glad the grumps and fans like playing it because I have certainly come to hate playing the digital version because of how inconsistent they are across all systems.

You could be winning, use the bathroom, and lose because the game decides to take over and make you declare bankruptcy on a $10 fine when you have $1500+. I think what happened is his keyboard was stuck on End which causes a bankrupt. Another possibility is that the game glitched while he was reconnecting (as we could see during the beginning of "Part 2").

Same, a lot of families did, back in the day. It's sad, because a lot of people who claim to hate monopoly because it "takes too long to finish" are actually mad at the free parking rule... it makes games take *way* longer to finish.
