Am I missing something, Oliver is on a 6 year deal, Cats don’t really have enough to trade for Oliver, Dee’s have said yeah he’ll play for dees next year. Oliver is at the B&F drinking beers with team mates. How is there a story here. This McClure guy is a joke.
The meeting between Geelong and Oliver clearly happened. Oliver's manager has nothing to gain, Clayton is already on $10m over next 6 years, and there is no way Oliver could get more. So why did the meeting happen. I suspect Melbourne gave Oliver's Manager the go ahead to look around, due to some recent poor behaviour, and thinking they could cut their losses, but then Melbourne realized Geelong was propably only going to accept maybe 75% of Oliver's salary. At that point they backed off, and fell back to the story of "he has never been up for trade". I don't believe Melbourne!

Clearly the Melbourne have clearly contacted him and told him to pull his head in and he doesn’t like it and will continue to be a child and keep pushing a narrative that is just not there and not true. I am amazed at the negative comments about Sam because he reported that Clayton wants to leave . That is his job. Andrew Mackie and Steve Hocking don't meet with Oliver AND Oliver doesn't go to Stanleys farm to meet with him and Tom Stewart if Oliver doesn't want to go to Geelong to play. Geelong have admitted these meetings so they are fact and did happen. Clayton wants to play for Geelong, fact! Will it happen, unlikely because Melbourne seem intent to hold him to his contract. Sam is clearly frustrated because he knows there are big lies being told by Melbourne but can't reveal his sources. Risky strategy to hold a player that doesn't want to play for you particularly when there is so much evidence of cultural issues at Melbourne. They will lose both Oliver and Petracca next year when clubs can trade 2 years draft picks & have time to prepare.

So many Melbourne supporters are in denial......Oliver wants to leave!! He may be held to his contract but that doesn't mean he wants to stay. I heard the Melboune club say that they believe they can fall in love with each other again....hahaha, seriously. That’s way too specific and way too many coincidences to say there’s nothing there..where there is smoke there is fire, otherwise Brad Green wouldn’t have to make a point of it at the best and fairest and Mackie wouldn’t have addressed it today when interviewed by Cal Twomey.

The Demons president makes a speech at the B&F saying Clarie will be at Melbourne in 2025. Interesting that since then Clarie has said NOTHING on social media. The deal is not dead, he wants to leave.
I don't like McClure at all but........he is of a group (professional journos with no playing experience) that believe the only way they can get ahead is to throw mud at walls to see if any sticks. His outlandish statements in the last few years have only ever been to promote himself and not to dissect football issues in a cold, logical manner. The proof is that whenever he is confronted with his biases and lack of logic he makes it about himself. Unfortunately, this is typical of many journos who feel the need to editorialise and not just to report facts which seems so prevalent now. Instead of sighting evidence they (and McClure) simply preface everything with "I believe". We, the footy public, simply don't care about your beliefs.

If Oliver has another stinker in 2025, Dees are going to be paying 1m a year to a player only getting games on reputation.
If if if … what if he’s able to come back, get super fit and win the Dees’ B&F? He’s only 27yo. Could easily turn it around. The guy has won 4AA guernseys and 2 AFL coaches association player of the year awards. I’d say his ‘reputation’ is justified.

Why would Oliver meet with Geelong with 6 years to go on his contract. Causing a big storm for no reason.
