Well, you cant really decide whats better
Bedrock is good because: you can spam making you have more damage per second than java damage per hit, you can bridge with no shifting, and a little less laggy
Java is good because, you had combat update, yeah. I know yall hate it, but sword and axes actually deal more damage per hit, than in bedrock, and its easier to aim in java,
And both have its own goods

Java and bedrock both have their ups and downs when it comes to combat.
In Java it’s slower and more calculated due to shields totems, and the HIGHLY controversial 1.9 combat update that added the attack cooldown. Axes and shields dominate the meta over in Java seeing as how axes are the only counter (other than potions since those ignore armor) to the shield.
In bedrock, it’s more fast-paced, it’s more like Java 1.8 and below, before 1.9 was a thing, it’s more batshit crazy, which means rods, swords, and bows dominate the meta there since shields and axes just can’t keep up. Shields break insanely fast even WITH unbreaking since you can spam click, however it’s incredibly funny to watch your opponent get flung back like- 3-4 blocks because of shield knockback. And axes (to my knowledge) can’t disable shields, and bedrock edition was made for mainly console and mobile, console especially since Microsoft bought Mojang, which means Minecraft and its spinoffs can be bought on the Microsoft and Xbox play store, so you kinda need that spammy coke-fueled mess when on console or mobile, since you don’t have the proper dexterity unless you have gyro aiming, which is exclusive to PlayStation and Nintendo switch.
All and all bedrock and Java both have strengths and weeknesses, it just all boils down to what YOU like. I mainly play Java because of how easy it is to mod it, especially with the Modrinth and TMod launchers, however Bedrock can be pretty fun at times, especially considering the tomfuckery you can do with the layered clothes and custom skins that things such as Skindex can’t readily do, especially considering Bedrock has 3 skin layers, whereas Java has 2

You can disable shields in bedrock with a axe

bedrock: spam, bridging and less lag.
    Java: mods.
Java is better in my opinion

That’s your opinion my friend, and Minecraft is Minecraft, regardless of the version
