Seemingly out of nowhere, Nintendo decided that Tingle deserved to go on some adventures of his own during the DS era, and who I am I to disagree. Are these games better than the actual Zelda games for DS? The results may shock you...

My favorite part of Rosy Rupeeland is the fact that you can name yourself anything you want, but as soon as you put on the green tights the game goes you're Tingle now.

You know, I don’t (fully) understand the Tingle hate in the west. Yes, he WAS horrible in WW but in MM and OoA, he’s a kooky but friendly guy. I’d honestly like to see him return to the main series (outside of references)
It's because he's flamboyant and west is too homophobic.
Many people in the west find Tingle some weird creepy dude, (I guess) that's why he's hated in the west
Personally I have never played much of the Zelda series but I do not like his design he's just creepy
@@mariajimenafigueroa233 that's fair but, excluding Wind Waker, he's just a friendly guy that helps you out by selling maps at a reasonable price. and yes he IS weird, there's not really anything that screams "STRANGE CREEP!" (at least to me...)
I never found anything wrong with him in Wind Waker.
Tingle is like Wario in the sense of being so absurd and weird, but only one is beloved outside of Japan.

They can understand and appreciate weirdness better than the american westeners compared to europeans.
Wario may be a money-obsessed jackass, but he often shows the bare minimum of a nicer side in the WarioWare games.
Tingle's entire thing is that he's obsessed with fairies. He rarely has a personality outside of "talks about fairies" and he's just offputting. He's like Zelda's version of a Furry but for fairies instead of animals
Wario is beloved everywhere because he's THICC
Wario also had genuinely solid games and a good first impression.

Unironically Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love might be the best point and click I've ever played, I laughed, I cried, It made me feel things for a silly 30 something's man who can't get laid and his merry men of bizarre Wizard of Oz parodies
And it's one of the rare ones to have side quests. Even going so far to have side arcs.
Finally someone acknowledges the best Wizard of Oz adaptation of all time

I used to think Tingle was an Okay character, but the Balloon Trip of Love game sounds like a fun Isekai adventure and Parody of The Wizard of Oz. I need a game like this ASAP.

Also, Tingle actually was in Twilight Princess, only they called him Purlo - but he's definitely a play on Tingle, down to his green outfit, pointy hat and blue watch. 🙃
I remember reading something that claimed that a Zelda art book had commentary regarding Purlo, and this commentary basically said "Purlo is an interpretation of Tingle in the art style of Twilight Princess". I'm not sure if that claim was true though.

Especially considering that's how it works in Mario Odyssey.
Balloon Trip of Love really is one the most insane things I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing and it does not get the recognition it deserves. Especially for the great decision of using Tingle to parody dating sim tropes.
That said, parody or no, Azusa is still peak waifu.
The first game's about wealth, and the second's about love. I guess that means the third would've been about death, so maybe Tingle lucked out by it being canceled. Now, he can live forever.
Purlo and his Star Mini Game from Twilight Princess is an honorable mention since he was directly inspired by Tingle; complete with similar clothes and clock necklace.
Thx for talking about the Tingle games. They are way too overlooked and often ridiculed just for having Tingle as the protagonist but they are genuinely great games.

The horror game could have started with like "Decay" or "Rot" or something like that since the others are Freshly Picked and Ripened
it wouldn't happen, but if there ever was a 'Year of Tingle', i sincerely hope that the entire year is just nintendo busting out the most random and specific games year-long - all different game genres, all slightly insane, just a crazy game series in student project aesthetic

Nintendo of America in the Wii/DS era was really hesitant about releasing more niche titles, even if they already released in Europe: Tingle‘s Rosy Rupeeland, Last Window: The Secret of Cape West (the sequel to Hotel Dusk), Another Code R (which now luckily gets a North American release via the Switch remake) and Disaster: Day of Crisis all were localised for Europe but had no release in NA.
And additionally you had to protest to get a North American release for Xenoblade Chronicles, Last Story and Pandora‘s Tower while here in Europe they were localised and announced to release without thinking twice…
Must have been payback for all the SNES RPGs that skipped a European release. Secret of Mana was the exception.
But hey, at least we still got Terranigma.

This game deserves more love. The amount of unique sprites and funny details are quite insane. And the main characters are really likable.

I really like both Tingle's Rosey Rupee Land and Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love. I watched both games in a let's play. But I didn't acutally know Tingle even had two more games.
I never knew Nintendo made a dating sim, much less one starting Tingle
AntDude is a guy who I sometimes wish would post videos more often. I'm always checking on the channel to see if there's something new, but, more often than not, there isn't.
On the other hand, though, it is great, cause every single video becomes meaningful.

Even if he's not a popular character in America, I still wish we got those games. They really seem to be fun and full of charm.
I'm still amazed though that Tingle got his own games before Zelda. Heck, she still hasn't gotten one (I'm not counting the CDI games). You think with her name being on the title she'd have gotten one by now. Oh well...

I remember watching Vinny Vinesauce play Balloon Trip of Love and I had never seen a game I wanted to play so badly before. Like I watched his whole playthrough and still wanted to experience the game myself, but instead of doing the normal thing and downloading the fan translation, I picked up a copy at Anime Expo last year alongside Chibi-Robo Clean Sweep and decided I'll just do it this way.
They should have done the tingle horror game. Hes a pretty unsettling character already. He’d be perfect in a horror game.

Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland is underrated as hell
Unfortunately, the whole mechanic of collecting Rupees in Freshly Picked Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland is what inspired the whole abundance and gameplay of Coins in Paper Mario: Sticker Star and it seems intentional since Vanpool codeveloped the game.
The Love De Lic team went on to become Onion Games who are currently working on a new game called Stray Children. It's a spiritual sequel to Moon and it seems to be a turn based rpg.
Oh sick I can't wait for that to not come out here for 10-20 years too!/s

These games were honestly too weird for me to finish playing as a kid so it was nice to see you play through them. I might get back into them now, my gaming tastes have changed a lot as I've grown older.

I watched Hammy play Rupeeland and Balloon Trip and I was honestly blown away by them. I don't think I would've enjoyed playing them so much myself, but watching them was super fun.

I didn't even know Tingle had his own spin-off game back when I had my DS. I happened upon it when looking up DS roms online via Emuparadise and I downloaded it. I haven't played it through yet, but I want to own a physical copy of it now... along with Tingle Balloon Fight...
