Also they are actually a crossover group as 2 of them are classically trained, one is a musical actor and one is a rock singer. So they dont fit under the kpop genre.
Each of their new interpretations is sensational. They give them a twist and their own flavor (always respecting the original), are very creative, set new accents, like to experiment and the result is always TOP. On a completely different LEVEL are the acoustic and visual masterpieces of their OWN ORIGINAL M/V, showing what this unique group is really capable of. The latest "Utopia" is Part II of a trilogy (whatever Part III will be) / Part I is "Save Our Lives" and both are must-sees.

Hey Mortius! I'm so thrilled to see you reacting to Forestella! They are seriously one of the best groups ever. The Kang Hyungho, the countertenor, was actually a chemical engineer prior to joining the reality show that put these four together. After they won, he ended up quitting his job. The Forestella guys reached the end of their first contract together and after discussing it, they signed another contract together. They are truly amazing and worth more reactions! The bass, Ko Woorim, is the one that I had commented about in the VP discord in the discussion a month or two ago about how people react with that knee-melting reaction to a lot of bass voices. (I found this group only a few months ago and I have not dug myself into a rabbit hole like this since first finding VoicePlay. Seriously... that's how much I adore this group.) The bass and one of the tenors (Ko Woorim and Cho Mingyu) are both classically trained opera singers, although Cho Mingyu did not pursue opera because apparently he was told that his voice was too common/too unremarkable to get very far... which blows my mind. Oh, thought I'd add, their cover of Time in a Bottle (th-cam.com/video/rJ6bVs1_058/w-d-xo.html) is (in my opinion) the definitive version of the song. I loved the song before they covered it, but their version is the ONLY version left in my playlists.
Thanks for your support for Forestella! But seems you have some wrong information about Cho MinGyu. He got shocked when heard from one of the juries in an international concours that his voice isn't not commonly preferred to be a main role, so his best career would be sub roles. It's because in the classical vocal field rich round tones are more preferred, nothing like because his voice is too common for it (it's not even true because MinGyu has very unique voice distinguishable from other 35 Phantom Singers..). Despite he has (less preferred in opera world) fine thin light tone he could be one of the semifinalists in Montreal Concours. He has an unbroken-yet record of being the youngest joined member of the Seoul Metropolitan Opera. His techniques and interpretation for a music is top notch. Cho MinGyu and Ko WooRim both are classically trained at SNU (Seoul NationalUniversity), top uni in Korea. SNU sent the students to 2016 Toulouse international concours and 4th grader from SNU won 1st Grand-Prix, 3rd grafer won 2nd prize, Ko WooRim went up to semifinal as 2nd grader. They could have succeeded in the classical vocal field if they had kept going that way as well. Very thankful the fate drove them into crossover way.

I'll add one to the other suggestions: Kang Hyung Ho, the countertenor, does the duet from Phantom of the Opera--both parts. It's included in the Forestella video listings. Their Bohemian Rhapsody will totally blow your mind. I love good harmony singing, and this group excels at it. Thanks for the heads up about neurodiverse attraction to bass tones--I'm autistic and usually do not like high voices. These guys are the exception. The bass, Ko Woorim, is operatically trained, and honestly if hot fudge had a sound it would be his voice. They sing in at least nine different languages: English, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Latin, Zulu, and possibly Swahili (I've heard the song, but the credits were in Korean). I've studied five of those, and their pronunciation is really very good.

These 4 guys were included(survived) in the final 12 singers among hundreds of applicants. And, the program PD divided those 12 amazing singers into 3 groups as the singers want. And, guess what? They(FORESTELLA) won this contest!!! When they sing on the stage, they normally set their positions like this. Not KPOP.... Welcome to the amazing world of Forestella. They are a crossover male quartet, and besides each voice being so different, they are the kings of harmony. They are magical in different genre, various languages.
Did you like that? 🤣 Love your enthusiasm. The bass (Ko WooRim) and the singer doing the Gaga voice (Cho Mingyu) are Classically trained. The guy (Bae Doo-Hoon) with the breathy baritone is Theatre trained. And... the guy hitting the high notes, (Kang Hyung-Ho) was, a Research Chemist who sang part time in a... ROCK Band. He has a large vocal range. But had no vocal training rior to going on the show which created Forestella. 😲 You are going to love the Forestella journey. "Shape of you" 😂 but also 😲👍 "Bohemian Rhapsody" 😮😲😮 "Sweet Dreams", "Time in a bottle", "Hijo de La luna" 😍 "Nella Fantasia", and build up to "Je suis malade" 😭😭😭. Their harmonies are so tight because they work so hard on that. The Gaga sound alike is the leader and driving force. But, they just blend so well. A solo singer you may like is the quirky Chinese singer Hua Chenyu. He composes, arranges, plays multiple instruments (piano, percussion, guitar and is a wonderful flautist. He was tasked on one show to learn a new instrument every week, and mastered so many. Not in my Top 50 Hua Chenyu Performances but "Nunchucks" is a fun intro. He sings Rock/Metal, Rap, Reggae, Pop, SynthPop, Broadway, Ballads, Traditional Chinese etc. And BECOMES the persona of the song he reforms from.. . Heartbreaking, funny, Rock God 😂plaintive child etc. Best performer on the Planet. Off stage, until recently, quirky, shy, awkward. On stage.. Commanding. His father has used the word "Autism". He IS a musical genius.

I also really like Woorim’s deep voice, but actually generally they don’t do much for me; I think I find it harder to hear low notes with my auditory processing issues. Higher pitched male voices usually give me goosebumps- maybe I’m divergent amongst neurodivergents 😂. Definitely subscribing 😊.

This is Forestella, a crossover group from Korea. They are the winner group in the Phantom Singer 2; an audition show to form a crossover quartet like il Divo from Korea. However as they have their own unique style, they won't be Korean il Divo, they will be the Forestella of the world!
Forestella has sung great covers like Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, Hijo de la Luna, Heal the World, the Sound of Silence, My Favorite Things, Champions (mash-up of Champs league theme and Champions by Jo SuMi), Nella Fantasia, Scarborough Fair..etc etc. At the Phantom Singer All Stars they sang Time in a bottle, Je suis Malade as well. Shape of You in English, Spanish and African Zulu is fantastic indeed.
You can even see them dancing singing Smooth Criminal as well! And they broke the record of their own with EXO's MAMA winning 6 trophies for King of Kings in a row in Immortal Songs. Check their magnificent performances of Bad Romance and Lazenca Save us in King of Kings and Unwritten Legend too.
Forestella is a quartet of Ko WooRim (classical bass, intense abyss-deep low tone), Kang HyungHo (ex-research chemist, rock vocalist with soprano head voice falsetto), Cho MinGyu (classical leggiero tenor, light boyish crystal clear tone) and Bae DooHoon (musical actor, 159th King of the Masked Singers, emotion convincer good at R&B, Pop). Each has distinct tone and style of singing, different charm. But all of them are famous as practice-freaks. They meet almost everyday to practice together. In a radio program the leader (Cho MinGyu) revealed it would be around 20 days they didn't meet in the year. Bae DooHoon also said they don't meet 1~2 days in a month. I think this explains how their perfection can be possible.
Don't miss their m/v for Save our lives! It's full of wonders. Each of them is representing an element in the m/v. They sang Fake Love of BTS and their song Save our lives at MAMA. Their new original song Utopia is a must check.
Now I see they are creating a genre called Forestella. They showed "What crossover is" with Save our lives and showing "What Forestella does" with Utopia!

They give them a twist and their own flavor (always respecting the original), are very creative, set new accents, like to experiment and the result is always TOP. On a completely different LEVEL are the acoustic and visual masterpieces of their OWN ORIGINAL M/V, showing what this unique group is really capable of. The latest "Utopia" is Part II of a trilogy (whatever Part III will be) / Part I is "Save Our Lives" and both are must-sees.

Hey Mortius! I'm so thrilled to see you reacting to Forestella! They are seriously one of the best groups ever. The Kang Hyungho, the countertenor, was actually a chemical engineer prior to joining the reality show that put these four together. After they won, he ended up quitting his job. The Forestella guys reached the end of their first contract together and after discussing it, they signed another contract together. They are truly amazing and worth more reactions! The bass, Ko Woorim, is the one that I had commented about in the VP discord in the discussion a month or two ago about how people react with that knee-melting reaction to a lot of bass voices. (I found this group only a few months ago and I have not dug myself into a rabbit hole like this since first finding VoicePlay. Seriously... that's how much I adore this group.) The bass and one of the tenors (Ko Woorim and Cho Mingyu) are both classically trained opera singers, although Cho Mingyu did not pursue opera because apparently he was told that his voice was too common/too unremarkable to get very far... which blows my mind.
Oh, thought I'd add, their cover of Time in a Bottle (th-cam.com/video/rJ6bVs1_058/w-d-xo.html) is (in my opinion) the definitive version of the song. I loved the song before they covered it, but their version is the ONLY version left in my playlists.
Thanks for your support for Forestella! But seems you have some wrong information about Cho MinGyu. He got shocked when heard from one of the juries in an international concours that his voice isn't not commonly preferred to be a main role, so his best career would be sub roles. It's because in the classical vocal field rich round tones are more preferred, nothing like because his voice is too common for it (it's not even true because MinGyu has very unique voice distinguishable from other 35 Phantom Singers..). Despite he has (less preferred in opera world) fine thin light tone he could be one of the semifinalists in Montreal Concours. He has an unbroken-yet record of being the youngest joined member of the Seoul Metropolitan Opera. His techniques and interpretation for a music is top notch.
Cho MinGyu and Ko WooRim both are classically trained at SNU (Seoul NationalUniversity), top uni in Korea. SNU sent the students to 2016 Toulouse international concours and 4th grader from SNU won 1st Grand-Prix, 3rd grafer won 2nd prize, Ko WooRim went up to semifinal as 2nd grader. They could have succeeded in the classical vocal field if they had kept going that way as well. Very thankful the fate drove them into crossover way.

I'll add one to the other suggestions: Kang Hyung Ho, the countertenor, does the duet from Phantom of the Opera--both parts. It's included in the Forestella video listings. Their Bohemian Rhapsody will totally blow your mind. I love good harmony singing, and this group excels at it. Thanks for the heads up about neurodiverse attraction to bass tones--I'm autistic and usually do not like high voices. These guys are the exception. The bass, Ko Woorim, is operatically trained, and honestly if hot fudge had a sound it would be his voice. They sing in at least nine different languages: English, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Latin, Zulu, and possibly Swahili (I've heard the song, but the credits were in Korean). I've studied five of those, and their pronunciation is really very good.

Hi~ Thanks for your reaction to FORESTELLA. For those who do not know about Forestella, I'd love to tell you about them briefly. They've met at an audition program called "Phantom Singer 2" which finds the best male cross-over quartet in South Korea in 2017. These 4 guys were included(survived) in the final 12 singers among hundreds of applicants. And, the program PD divided those 12 amazing singers into 3 groups as the singers want. And, guess what? They(FORESTELLA) won this contest!!!
When they sing on the stage, they normally set their positions like this. The first one from the left side is Ko Woo-Rim(bass, a grad-school vocal music student), the second one is Kang Hyeong-Ho(soprano, ex-chemist researcher), the third one is Cho Min-Kyu(tenor, M.A. degree in vocal music) and the fourth one is Bae Doo-Hoon(tenor, musical actor) There're many amazing songs they've covered. I wouldn't consider them kpop- they're a crossover group with two classically trained members (the bass and lyrical tenor), a musical actor, and a rocker/countertenor. But yes, definitely worth going down the rabbit hole!

Did you like that? 🤣 Love your enthusiasm. The bass (Ko WooRim) and the singer doing the Gaga voice (Cho Mingyu) are Classically trained. The guy (Bae Doo-Hoon) with the breathy baritone is Theatre trained. And... the guy hitting the high notes, (Kang Hyung-Ho) was, a Research Chemist who sang part time in a... ROCK Band. He has a large vocal range. But had no vocal training rior to going on the show which created Forestella. 😲 You are going to love the Forestella journey. "Shape of you" 😂 but also 😲👍 "Bohemian Rhapsody" 😮😲😮 "Sweet Dreams", "Time in a bottle", "Hijo de La luna" 😍 "Nella Fantasia", and build up to "Je suis malade" 😭😭😭. Their harmonies are so tight because they work so hard on that. The Gaga sound alike is the leader and driving force. But, they just blend so well.
A solo singer you may like is the quirky Chinese singer Hua Chenyu. He composes, arranges, plays multiple instruments (piano, percussion, guitar and is a wonderful flautist. He was tasked on one show to learn a new instrument every week, and mastered so many. Not in my Top 50 Hua Chenyu Performances but "Nunchucks" is a fun intro. He sings Rock/Metal, Rap, Reggae, Pop, SynthPop, Broadway, Ballads, Traditional Chinese etc. And BECOMES the persona of the song he reforms from.. . Heartbreaking, funny, Rock God 😂plaintive child etc. Best performer on the Planet. Off stage, until recently, quirky, shy, awkward. On stage.. Commanding. His father has used the word "Autism". He IS a musical genius.

Please watch the rest as videos for us, LOVED your reaction with your enthusiasm, your great explanations like the same note sounding different out of other people- something a lot of people don’t understand, and how open you were with your adhd. I also really like Woorim’s deep voice, but actually generally they don’t do much for me; I think I find it harder to hear low notes with my auditory processing issues. Higher pitched male voices usually give me goosebumps- maybe I’m divergent amongst neurodivergents 😂. Definitely subscribing 😊.
