    What's cool about the Legends version of Luke Skywalker is that he later in his life became the embodiment of what made ALL the most powerful Jedi so powerful. He had Anakin Skywalker’s raw Force power, Obi-Wan Kenobi's discipline to master all types of skills, Mace Windu's ability to grace the dark side without joining, Qui-Gon Jinn’s view on the Living Force, Yoda's wisdom and unyielding loyalty to the light, and Dooku's ability to lead and inspire. He was the embodiment of Jedi wisdom.

      Indeed, Legends and Expanded Universe really did Luke justice in ways that the sequel trilogy never did. They should’ve used that material when they did that trilogy.

      They totally should have! They would have had so many new characters to introduce and take over! Mara jade and all the kids! Jana solo was a bad ass! Luke's son ben was great! But, they decided to crap all over everything! Can you imagine how amazing and diverse all the new jedi from luke's order could have been?

    After seeing the prequeals and then the original trilogy, I can definitely say that Luke Skywalker is the best hero I have ever seen in cinema. He is compassionate, creative, caring and kind, while not afraid to put his foot down. Yet, he could also be impatient, arrogant and impulsive, making him human and relatable. To me, this version of Luke Skywalker is what I consider to be the real Luke, not the one with a beard. Not to mention, he had the perfect villain to challenge him, with Darth Vader, his father, and Emperor Palpatine, the Devil himself. He not only saved the rebellion, and the galaxy, but also his father. He is definitely the greatest Star Wars character and hero of all time.

    Always loved Legends Luke as well, he always felt like the natural continuity. I especially love his journey later in life duing the Fate of the Jedi series.
    His nephew, Jacen Solo, turned to the dark side and went on a galaxy-wide rampage, even personally killing Luke's wife, Mara Jade. Luke expresses that he does feel a natural sense of anger and anguish regarding this, and he has difficulty forgiving this action. But still he believes that Jacen was a good man that was corrupted like Anakin was, and sets out with his son Ben to try and answer why he turned (also because Luke was publicly blamed for this, but thats secondary). Luke still believes that Jacen had good in him and wants to prove this to the public, rather than wanting to murder Han's son because of a bad dream. The real Luke always sees the best in people and has forgiveness in his heart.

    Even though Empire Strikes Back is my favorite movie of the OT. The scene in the throne room at the end of RotJ might be my favorite scene from any movie ever. I always have to quote it all word for word. It was the perfect climax and ending to a perfect trilogy of movies. You really feel that depth of like, even though there isnt a flashy crazy flipping battle in the throne room, it's just discussion, but its the most important discussion in the galaxy.

I was so excited to meet luke and i wanted to kiss his cheek or his mine! But, he said no and my four year old heart was crushed! We were last in line and they had stayed later than they had to! I was so broken hearted that i dressed up a darth vader for Halloween! People looked at me so strange, this little girls with those awful plastic costume with very blonde pig tails! Luke is the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order that he recreated, not some scared hermit living on a steep island with his x wing fighter under water and chucking his lightsaber over his shoulder- what happened to his green bladed lightsaber? Why is he calling it a laser sword? Who is this doppelganger impersonator?

    I'd like someone's opinion on this:
    Watching Yoda's death scene I've been thinking about Grogu. His aging doesn't make sense.
    I already thought that, but I started really thinking about it. Comparing it to Asgardians in the MCU.
    To my understanding, Asgardians grow at the same rate as humans until adulthood. Afterwards, their aging process is way slower than humans.
    Grogu's evolution seems to be the reverse. For it to make sense within the canon presented he would need to grow slower until adulthood and then age insanely faster than humans.
    If it was proportional to humans (like Yoda being 900yo is roughly what a 90yo human would be), Grogu should be like a 5yo being 50yo in the story. Which would make him able to speak, but it's not the case.
    They wanted a cute little thingy to sell toys, but didn't really think through the lore implications.
    It should've been clarified how their species age, without revealing too much as to not demystify Yoda. (They probably shouldn't have used Yoda's species like that in the first place.)
    Anyways, I don't know why specifically I started to think about this subject when I'm finally getting to the end of this Luke Skywalker video I started watching yesterday... But I did and it's frustrating.
    As mentioned, I already had issues with Grogu's growth/aging rate, but now that I'm really thinking about it, it ends up making less sense that I thought it did. And retroactively hurts my enjoyment of the first two seasons of Mando.
    Come on, a simple fix could be that he's like a 5yo human, but lost the ability to speak due to trauma. It would make sense.
    Then have him restore his ability to speak thanks to Mando being a father to him and helping him getting over his trauma over time.
    But no, better to keep the 50yo "Baby Yoda" cooing to sell toys. That's better for the story and overall lore.
    Imma stop before my rant stops making sense.
    I'd really like to have someone's opinion on the matter, to see if I'm overlooking something or if I'm right. Or something in between.
    Cheers from France! 🍻

    This. This is why the sequel trilogy left a bad impression on me. His abrupt and undeserved shift from the hero we know and love, as Luke Skywalker, into someone unrecognizable. He saw good in Vader, but only saw the bad in Ben Solo/Kylo Ren? How tf did that make any sense? But in any case, thank you so much sir for the very detailed and heart-felt deep dive into Luke Skywalker. It made me remember why we all loved his character (pre-disney) haha

    This is why Disney's Luke is such a blatant offense against Star Wars and George Lucas. They stripped him of all his growth, only to put a 'sTrONg fEmaLe' in his place, who is wise and powerful per se and not by hard earned lessons.
    And all of that to supposedly atract a female audience that was already there... because the real reason was to spread The Message. Damn wokism is like a plague.

    • @PainForYou
      @PainForYou 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The issue with Luke in the sequel trilogy in my opinion is that they didn't give enough emphasis on how he reached the conclusion that killing Kylo was the only option, like many issues with those movies they spent to much time screwing around so they didn't have an time actually follow through with the stuff they set up. Overall, I think the idea of Luke giving up after repeating his master's mistakes is a good concept, the execution just fell flat on its head.
      Rey is another perfect example of this, they wanted a female to be the lead which isn't an issue and I'm glad they did that. However, they simply made her strong with no development or training and frankly made her boring as well. There was next to nothing actually compelling about her and the stuff that was interesting, they did a terrible job exploring it. Rey in a vacuum is a good idea for a character, yet they put so much stock in her being a woman that they forget to make her interesting. The "woke" movement isn't really the issue, it's that they bastardized a character beloved by all through poor writing decisions and replaced him with a literal action figure with the personality of a wet towel.
      The sequel trilogy is just a disjointed mess of a story that destroys legacy characters, destroys its own creations and can't even keep the plot moving in one direction. Your best bet would just write it off as a terrible parody and pretend it doesn't exist lol. 😅

    • @Yarblocosifilitico
      @Yarblocosifilitico 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@PainForYou Problem is, Luke almost killing his apprentice because of his potential turning to the dark side is completely out of character. He redeemed the biggest villain (barring Sidious) in the galaxy, ffs. He would not pre-emtpively try to kill Kylo.
      About Rey, indeed, the problem is her lack of development or flaws. Which does come from wokism, as we can see the pattern repeat time and time again. 'Female leads must be all-powerful and require no one's help', that's the dogma they follow. No training required, no developing wisdom the hard way. As you say, it's just boring.

    • @PainForYou
      @PainForYou 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@Yarblocosifilitico Yeah, the decision to preemptively kill Kylo off with little thought was quite mind boggling.
      As for the dogma you mentioned, it certainly played a part in some capacity but likely wasn't the only reason leading to Rey being a terrible character. As a woman myself, it seemed like Disney used the fact she was a woman to shield themselves from criticism. Since you could just label critics as "sexist." The whole situation is just a great example of their inability to write strong women without them being incredibly masculine or ridiculously overpowered.

    • @Yarblocosifilitico
      @Yarblocosifilitico 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@PainForYou the reason she is a terrible character is that they prioritized activism over storytelling. Where do you think the need to make strong women "incredibly masculine or ridiculously overpowered" comes from?
      Ever heard the phrase 'a woman can do anything a man can', or 'women need men like a fish needs a bycicle', etc. It's the feminist indoctrination (ie, wokism), which makes them write characters like that. It's why activists can write a supposed academic study claiming that, in prehistoric times, women hunted as much (if not more) as men, and it gets published. Etc, etc.
      Ironically, feminism has devolved from defending women's rights to equating women with men, except only for the allegeded priviledges. They want to portray women as invincible and all-knowing, but in the real world, no feminist complains that the vast majority of labor wokers are men, or that in the case of an invasion (like in Ukraine) it will be men who sacrifice themselves to fight others. It's sickening.
      Yes, they use the 'sexist' narrative to deflect criticism, just like they use any -ism they fancy to avoid responsability. Because feminism/wokism nowadays is all about blaming others, and making no effort to improve oneself. That's why men can't complain about women's bodycounts, yet women can demand men to be tall and rich, and bodyshame them all they want to explain why marriage rates are at an all-time low and divorce at an all-time high.
      Anyway... I took a long tangent there, but make no mistake, wokism IS the main reason these female leads are aweful characters. Because, apparently, portraying women as flawed in any way is akin to supporting the patriarchy... It would be hilarious if not for the fact that it's harming society in many, very impactful ways.
