I loved how the movie did a complete 180 when she came into action. It was so satisfying seeing the killers get a taste of their own medicine. Hell, I would say Erin was even more brutal than they were.
Usually in horror movies, we have a lone girl entering a house or cabin where she finds all her best friends murdered & hacked to pieces. Then, hearing a strange noise in the basement or attic, she lights the smallest, weakest candle in the universe (which always goes out) or carries a flashlight with almost dead batteries (which always goes out) and goes to investigate the noise.

How about in Split when the main character told her friend to pee on herself so she wouldn't get raped? I know many didn't understand that reference, but later in the film when we find out she was raped by her uncle when she was younger, it shows how she got the idea to pee on herself to prevent herself from being raped, because she use to do it to stop her uncle from raping her. Ding! Also check out my channel, I promise you won't regret it!
Rules for a horror movie: -Never, ever shout "Hello" as if the killer will gladly give away his location -Don't look for the source of the noise in the basement. It will look for you. -When you say stick together, *STICK TOGETHER GODDAMMIT*
Movie Man Ur absolutely right about that James Wan directed lots great horror movies, his best films are The Conjuring movies. But hes set to direct Aquaman
dwayne werleman What about his Insidious movies? Or Dead Silence? They were great! The Conjuring was a bit over-hyped for me tbh. Don't get me wrong The Conjuring is a great horror film, but way too over-hyped.
'The Thing' (John Carpenter version) will always be my favorite horror film, in part because virtually everything the characters do is right- there's not a lot of stupid decisions or rash acts. It's terrifying because it's not like 'oh, if he had just done THAT they would've been fine!'- nope, they're screwed no matter what, despite being intelligent and (mostly) cooperative scientists.
arguably the beginning sequence where a helicopter is trying to kill the dog could count as a bad decision. i know it is highly debatable but something about them trying their absolute hardest to kill this dog should be kind of weird
@@niklas5771 they couldn't understand what the pilots were saying, since they were not speaking English. But I agree with you. In other hand, they liked the doggie and thought that dudes on the helicopter were absolute cunts XD
I was going to mention Hush. One of the best horror movies/psychological thrillers in my opinion. Cause she literally never does anything dumb that happen in other horror movies.
EZW_RSBaller that wasn’t the smart move. He knew he was dead, it was the last stand for penny wise, it was a Hail Mary that no horror movie main character would fall for
qwertyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnm1234567890qwertyuiop I see your fucking profile picture everywhere and of course hes a little kid he plays Fortnite also just look at his grammar
For a very little known horror movie decision, Seth lowering his body temperature to almost critical levels in a criminally underrated movie called SPLINTER. I really recommend it, it's a great creature/body horror film. Splinter is about a couple who give up on a planned camping trip and get taken hostage by a couple of escaped convicts. They are forced into a gas station in the middle of the woods where one of them is attacked by the attendant who has had his body taken over by a parasitic substance that grows out of the body in sharp splinters that infect anyone who is pricked by them. SPOILERS: The male hostage, a biology major named Seth, realizes that the way that the organism tracks is by heat, so, in order to get out of the gas station safely to get to the abandoned cop car outside to get the weapons, Seth is packed in bags of ice until his body temperature is at 89°F, then clutches a bag of ice to his core as he sneaks to the car while his girlfriend and the male convict toss fireworks just out the door to lure the creature away from him.
@Starscream91 it was in a warm state. All they had to do was lower their body temperature lower than the ambient outside temperature to achieve it. Great movie I stronger suggest checking it out
The main difference is, Scream redefined slasher thrillers. It's the same persona only a new person. Ghostface itself will never die, but will mannifest in many others. Whilst Halloween, Chucky, Friday the 13th, Hellraiser, Nightmare on Elm, they are evil' s personification. Why Michael Myers is the best, before the other sequels. He really had no motive. As Billy Loomis said , " Things are scarier without a motive."
I didn't know there were smart decisions in horror movies. Edit: Wow 408 likes. Thanks I have never gotten even 100 likes before... Also I fixed my grammar.
On the other hand, imagine this actually happens to you. You are home alone and hear something coming from INSIDE the house. What are you supposed to do other then go make sure it's nothing? It's your house, you can't just abandon it, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be just chilling at your house while hearing strange noises coming from under the staircase either.
In Texas, the murderer in the basement is scared of the noises upstairs. Those noises being a bunch of drunk fuckers with ARs praying for the day someone was stupid enough to break in.
Catherine Davila yeah for someone so young, his idea was incredibly genius. Even pro killers like jason or freddy ( real world ) would have fallen for that trick
Rafael Rocha Well, when Danny was in the maze in the snow, he realized that he was making tracks that his killing father was following. When he saw a different path he passed, he retraced his footprints in the snow and hid behind the wall (he also scraped his new tracks so that his dad won't go that way). When his dad reached the 'end' of his trail, he turned around and took a different route to look for him. When the coast is clear, Danny followed his previous tracks that leads back to the entrance where he was reunited with his mother.
You don't make the best decisions when you're scared but at least your body reacts faster. You're faster and you don't care about pain. Triping is literally the last thing that's gonna happen belive me
I'm not sure if it was a horror movie, but the girl from Hush was pretty smart. She made a few dumb decisions, but they were kinda essential to her survival in some cases, so I dont blame her.
I mean, considering that she's deaf AND can't speak, I'd say she's pretty clever utilising everything around her. I mean, she does mess up a bit, especially distracting her boyfriend, but it's pretty realistic to try and warn someone, right?
Yea but it was too close quarters, she could still be hit by the chainsaw by either the reflex of the killer or by accident, better to disarm first then ensure later.
To lose an entire arm or have it partially chopped off in a fighting situation leaves you at a huge disadvantage unless your strong as a bear or a bull.
Also it throws off balance. Seriously, think about suddenly losing at least ten pounds of weight your body instinctual takes into account when balancing and try running. And shock is a thing as well as blood loss as there are some major arteries in your arm.
Michael Myers. didn't get his head cut off. you find out in the next movie that Michael disguised himself as a paramedic, and put the paramedic in his clothes
Lol maybe Mojo was trying to do what a lot of us do and pretend like Halloween Resurrection doesn't exist 😂 I think they should've just stopped at H20. Would've been a good ending to the series in my opinion
Can't remember it's name but it's on Netflix and it's about a deaf girl who is hunted by some guy in her own home in the middle of nowhere. Can't actually remember if she survives (I think she does) but practically none of her decisions were stupid.
+gatopreto 1207 I never seen the movie but it depends on when she died. the brain is active for 7 minutes after death. if she died within that time it would still activate the nerves in her lids.
The Native American woman (Martha) in "Ravenous" who walks into an army camp full of crazy psychos eating each other and turns around and walks away without saying a word.
Rome Dep i think it kinda wierd because the tone shifted drastically. I know the francais was all about giant aliens but almost half of the movie is so realistic and it deals with a dilemma whether that guy is true or not. Then suddenly in the end it goes from that to aliens fest.
TheNobl3Boi i read somewhere that the reason it looked funny was they simply took a close up of a doll getting pulled through the window, which explains why it looks so hilarious

So basically Erin is the adult version of Kevin From home alone but she does happen to be able to kill
Nathan Beardy Kevin could have killed but it was a Christmas movie
Lol exactly thought I was the only one who thought that😜
And Nancy is the teenage version from nightmare on elm street when she set the traps

3:19 " you can't kill a boogieman".....tell that to john wick.

Well, John Wick is the Boogeyman and nobody has been able to kill him yet.
Rules for a horror movie:
-Never, ever shout "Hello" as if the killer will gladly give away his location
-Don't look for the source of the noise in the basement. It will look for you.
-When you say stick together, *STICK TOGETHER GODDAMMIT*
Damn youre right

Erin in "You're Next" and in any horror movie is like picking the Home Alone Kid But rated R.

Personally I think the best decision in a horror film is getting James Wan to direct it.
James Wan = Jump scare, jump scare and... jump scare. Pfff.
Movie Man emmm nope, that guy sucks :)
Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat will be Phenomenal!!
what about lights out when he uses his keys to turn on his car lights
Graham Adkins hahaha true
My friends and I were seriously impressed, he even comes back with the police.
lights out was so fucking boring
was gonna comment on the same thing hahah
Graham Adkins yea. That was pretty smart
@@niklas5771 Yeah maybe they could have deduced it has rabies or something. But to be frank, i'd shoot the man shooting the dog.
@@niklas5771 they couldn't understand what the pilots were saying, since they were not speaking English. But I agree with you. In other hand, they liked the doggie and thought that dudes on the helicopter were absolute cunts XD

What about in Hush when she starts using disadvantages into advantages.
I was going to mention Hush. One of the best horror movies/psychological thrillers in my opinion. Cause she literally never does anything dumb that happen in other horror movies.
Derpy Derp I fucking love that movie
Me too!
she is probably one of the smartest horror movie characters out there
I was literally like if hush isn't on here then I'm gonna be kind of angry lol
Kevin from Home Alone is smarter than horror movie characters.
naqkin aka albert aienstein(sorry i cant spell)
Yessss
Home alone. A horror movie?
That's cuz he's not a horror movie character

The smartest decision was in IT when billy shot Georgie who was actually penny wise. If billy were dumb he’d take Georgie home
Bill Is A Smart Boi
EZW_RSBaller that wasn’t the smart move. He knew he was dead, it was the last stand for penny wise, it was a Hail Mary that no horror movie main character would fall for

If you're cast for a horror film and your character's name is Erin, you're gonna be just fine.
If you're a black person or on a landing party with a red shirt, you'll be the first to die.
Even if your name is Erin and you're in a final destination movie?
Rose C lol star tek reference

Nightmare Fanatic damn that’s smart as shit
Great movie. And agreed... Underrated
And don't forget the girl tripping about her "dog"
@Starscream91 it was in a warm state. All they had to do was lower their body temperature lower than the ambient outside temperature to achieve it. Great movie I stronger suggest checking it out
Sydney is the Goat! She has survived every single Scream Movie! Woooooooo! Go Sydney!
That's cuz she always slams doors into the killers skulls, the pricks!
You should watch Scream the series on Netflix if you like the movies :)

In the really, really good horror movies there are.
Roblox Gaming
It's the one thing movies can show. Because so far, humanity can't make smart decisions, characters can.
Roblox Gaming if they were smart most of them would've never got in the situation in the first place.
+ROOFUS THE DOG so if there's a murderer right in front of you and you're smart enough, he would just go away?
Remember kids, marry a girl called Erin
Joaquin Ramirez haha that's the name of my step mom I guess dad took that advise lol
Joaquin Ramirez nah... she's too cold blooded. If you pissed her off, she may kill you off without giving you a chance to explain yourself.
Wee Meng John Ng nobody asked you
good thing im a boy
So ima marry a girl that has the same name as me, but just spelled differently? I will very welll do that.
The *NUMBER ONE* rule is to never follow noises coming from the basement. But yet they still do it 😁
On the other hand, imagine this actually happens to you. You are home alone and hear something coming from INSIDE the house. What are you supposed to do other then go make sure it's nothing? It's your house, you can't just abandon it, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be just chilling at your house while hearing strange noises coming from under the staircase either.
@@Eris_Norregard I'll literally run out so fast I may as well leave forever
@@ЗорницаЯнкова Wl if you gonna be homeless you might at least pack up some clothes first :D
Violet Raven Under circumstance I’d lock the killer in the basement. Secure a perimeter and call 911.
In Texas, the murderer in the basement is scared of the noises upstairs. Those noises being a bunch of drunk fuckers with ARs praying for the day someone was stupid enough to break in.
That's something I want to see... smart choices in horror movies because what people do in horror movies makes no sense usually!
Villain always studies :/ Has in figuring out.
Yea would've been boring if they did a 'top ten bad decisions characters in scary movies made' video😒😴
BlocketRocket ikr the people in horror movies are dumb
Smartest thing to happen in horror movies when you don't have sex in a cabin

David Cookieface stupid ass
When the guy in "Don't Hang Up" looked at the clock on the tv to see if his friends parents was still alive was smart.
Andy from Chucky should be in here. He was a smart kid
Kids in horror movies tend to be more competent than adults for some reason.
I think one of the smartest decisions was by Clear Rivers to completely isolate herself from any chance of dying in the Final Destination Movies
Stephen Banks I agree but final destination is a thriller
Reaperr 120 How on earth is it a thriller 😂 it's a slasher movie but with death being the killer ( which in itself is genius )
i know right, i felt so horrible when kimberly practically guilts her into helping them.
Wow, Danny is one smart child!
I thought so too.
Catherine Davila yeah for someone so young, his idea was incredibly genius. Even pro killers like jason or freddy ( real world ) would have fallen for that trick
i like to feel that's a sample of what happens when kids were less PC back then and more common sense real life'rs XD
Catherine Davila i didn't understand what Danny did, can you explain me?
Rafael Rocha Well, when Danny was in the maze in the snow, he realized that he was making tracks that his killing father was following. When he saw a different path he passed, he retraced his footprints in the snow and hid behind the wall (he also scraped his new tracks so that his dad won't go that way). When his dad reached the 'end' of his trail, he turned around and took a different route to look for him. When the coast is clear, Danny followed his previous tracks that leads back to the entrance where he was reunited with his mother.
Aw man Erin in "You're Next", was more hardcore, than the killers.
Yeah!
Sarkastik Leader Did she ever get arrested for you know... the failed trap at the end
the only thing wrong is the failed trap she made...useless
Dorian Glover oh....well that was an accident lol
Dion Mingaracal but she killed EVERYONE that tried to kill her. That's a win for me.
Honestly given the shock of being hunted u cant expect them to be smart.
Yeah armchair quarterbacks always know best right?
@Starscream91 are you being sarcastic?
But you can't expect them to be so dumb.

Dizzypoet D. it was a horror movie, one of my favorites actually lmak
Dizzypoet D. So true! She was definitely underestimated for being deaf
I love that movie!
Hush was pure shite
I mean, considering that she's deaf AND can't speak, I'd say she's pretty clever utilising everything around her. I mean, she does mess up a bit, especially distracting her boyfriend, but it's pretty realistic to try and warn someone, right?

Or when Strahm survived the Water Cube by sticking a pen into his neck and breathing through it
@Starscream91 number 6
yeah but why the hell would u chop at his arm!!?? hit him in the bloody head
Yea but it was too close quarters, she could still be hit by the chainsaw by either the reflex of the killer or by accident, better to disarm first then ensure later.
She could have cut off the arm and when letherface gets to the ground at least chop off part of his head so he isnt getting up anytime soon
And i think with a arm chop you will die by blood lose

Except for pounding on the glass when that guy was about to kill the killer, thus allowing the killer to kill the guy that was going to save her.

Maybe, or it could have just been an involuntary postmortem muscle- spasm from the bullet entering her brain.
is there such a thing?
+gatopreto 1207 I never seen the movie but it depends on when she died. the brain is active for 7 minutes after death. if she died within that time it would still activate the nerves in her lids.
