It is said in the lesson that, for SHM, "particle oscillates in a straight line.". So, Sir, can I say that motion of the Earth around sun is not SHM because the Earth does not move in a straight line?
Force is not negative.The negative sign just shows that the force acts towards the mean position,which is opposite of the displacement of the particle.
Sir the example that you used for explanation of the logic that the motions which are oscillatory are not necessary to be periodic, the path travelled by the body is not same, so this motion must not be oscillatory ?

It's only periodic motion not even oscillatory as there is no to and fro motion.
