@@spinlightstudios yup even though we own this latest and supposedly 😜Plug-ins ! You can do a lot w/STOCK. I find myself going back 10+ years … pull up an old Project like you show at time and re- TWEAK IT! ( it shows us how far we’ve came and that were always learning!🙏👌🏼🎚🎧George. ☺️
You and Mike from Creative Sauce are really putting out the best home studio videos currently. God bless Australia 🇦🇺 (And that’s praise from a Pom! 😂 🇬🇧)
Dynamic eq for OH symbol crash. I like this method cause it only attenuates when frequency gets to loud. A static cut can make it sound dull to me. Great vid!
Probably just cut up and quantized - probably the overtones when solo’d wobble a little from being sliced and stitched back together - this track is from 2013 so I was probably still manually slicing and cross fading everything back then lol
Yeah I know, but only if I wanted to load one shots or use stock midi samples in logic … which I don’t really like. but I’ve done a video ages ago about the logic drum replacement tool - it’s definitely cool - trigger is 100% better
I do think the logic 'vintage' style eqs can be more phasy than others; I almost always reach for other eqs before those; the API graphic one can be very harsh when doing additive stuff... great vid
Every time I watch I say, “gooday legends” at the same time. Puts a smile on my face.
Haha love it
Great tips. Mind blown with how much difference invert phase makes 🤯. Thanks for your insight. Really helped my recorded drums sound more full.
Thanks mate! It’s crazy how important phase is. One of the single most important things to understand when mixing drums!
Very COOL to see this w/ Stock PLUG-INs
I’m trying out your moves in LOGICS on Project right now!👍🎚🎧George ☺️
The old stock plugins do the job 😜

Mike is a nice bloke too! Thanks man!
Thanks for these videos. I've learned a ton from your channel and have my mixes sounding waaaay better from a lot of your tips. Cheers!
Thanks man!
You’re definitely a legend dude. Your videos are always quality.
Thanks mate!
Absolutely love this sir❤
Thanks! Hope it was helpful!
Love the exciter trick! I think there's a newish distortion/saturation plugin, Chroma-Glow, awesome for drums
There is! I was running in Rosetta and didn’t want to try and switch half way through when I realized!

So stoked for this video, thanks!!!
Thanks man!
So glad to see it’s not just me having issues with phase with tube eq in logic! So annoying
Yeah it’s a bit weird, normally I’d expect phase issue maybe if using high pass and low pass filters but this EQ just goes out of phase 😂
Is it not because of the latency those plugins add?@@spinlightstudios
dude can’t wait to try this out on my logic project tomorrow🤟
Hopefully some helpful nuggets in there
cracked me up at saying you hated the ua plugins showing up there. can't wait to hear how our stuff turns out
Gonna be awesome! 🤩

Thanks! Yeah for sure that can be good. No dynamic EQ in logics stock plugins though!
@@spinlightstudios It's not quite the same, but Logic does have a multi-band compressor. With a narrow band, you could get it to do a similar thing.
I am not a mac user so I don't use "logic pro" but I have to admit it has really cool stock plugins
Yeah they go alright!
Top notch as always 🙌
Thanks Will!
Thank you!
No problem!
Were the drum tracks stretched at all? In isolation some of the ghost notes on the snare sound stretchy. But in the mix it all sounds bloody great!
Probably just cut up and quantized - probably the overtones when solo’d wobble a little from being sliced and stitched back together - this track is from 2013 so I was probably still manually slicing and cross fading everything back then lol
Awesome man. thanks!
Thanks 🙏🏼
Subbed!
Welcome to the party 🎉
Logic has a sample replacement function too. So you could have even skipped Trigger.

Hi, regarding phase alignement, would you consider to do it with the room mics as well, or it is useless because it looses the 3D space feeling?
I find it looses the depth! Usually just try phase inverting and see what sounds best for rooms!
Great video, as always from you! Just curious, were you doing centre-hits on the snare, or rimshots? It sounds like centre hits, am I right?
I didn’t play this one! But I think he was a centre hitter from memory 🤔
hey man what do you think about phase aligner plugins for drums?
I’ve tried auto align, I thought manually moving them around got a better result. Definitely worth trying out though, some people love them.
I dare not tread in this area… yet! 😂
Do it!
