I was expecting this to cost $200-250 as straight up replacing this with another head unit costs similar. but 499? Nah. I can just get a new head unit with way more functionality.

I'd rather just get a whole new system.
Bad Larry it’s not for everyone. New deck with harness, dash kit to retain factory backup camera, and steering wheel controls will cost about $1000. It will also come with aftermarket plastic trim that will not look anything factory. But it will come with a nicer screen and sharper image quality. Take your pick.
All; this is Toyota remember. I’ve already priced things out. Good luck! Besides I had rather something fit and match so this works for me.
I was looking at the GTA Car kit android. It’s literally like the same price.
For that price you could get the high-end big screens... seems like a hassle to instal that on the one that already exists... unless I'm looking at the wrong price and it's not in the $600s.

Volume works on the steering wheel and on the radio. Seek and call buttons also works as well. This is an old kit. New one is more intuitive and works wirelessly as well

Yes you can use exciting microphones in the RAV4. You will have to use the touchscreen to navigate between apps in android auto

Sylvain Michaud you cannot use the steering wheel to navigate the UI other than volume and track up/down.

I have 2017 Rav 4 se The screen on my radio is broken, could i buy this without switching the backup camera?
Hey Adam, you'll need your factory screen in working conditions as our kit will not replace the screen.
Wow $500 is stupid expensive for this definitely gonna be looking at the many other options.
There are many options out there. Choose wisely
Can I listen to the radio and use the android auto/google maps feature at the same time? I think not, since I have to switch over to aux mode.
There’s two ways to achieve this: 1. keep the factory radio on fm/am mode then go to android auto mode. Doing this way won’t allow turn by turn voice to be heard. 2. Download a radio application that is compatible with android auto such as iheartradio.
For the cost of this you could just replace the stereo with a high end head unit, this is crazy expensive.
That’s another solution
I see that it mentions that bird’s eye view is not compatible with this. Does that mean that I can’t use birds eye view while apple CarPlay is active, or does that mean that I would lose the functionality to use birds eye view if the CarPlay is plugged in, regardless if actively used?
This means that the Carplay kit will not function if you have birds eye view camera.
$500 is too much for this especially if you’re gonna do it yourself. A harness, dash kit, interface for this rav4 cost like $200. To match this you can spend up to $300 on a radio and I bought a boss radio for $100 with front and rear camera and av adapter so I can get an Amazon fire stick on it. No only that but it looks just as good as factory and now has apple CarPlay.

Yes everything will continue to work while kit is in aux. however display will remain in carplay mode

You do not need the optional usb harness as you can route the separate external usb cable that comes with the kit anywhere in the car

The video displays 2013-2018. Can I get this for my 2013 RAV4 XLE?
Unfortunately we found out later that it is not compatible with the 2013 models
Just installed this and I am having a few issues. 1st is the carplay screen is shifted to the left, cutting off a 1/4 of the icons (time, home button). 2nd the quality does not look like it does in the above video. the black background is more grey. 3rd "hey siri text bob" works, but if she needs to reply to ask "what do you want to say to bob" the microphone does not activate. 4th issue. used siri to call bob. can hear audio of bob talking to me through car speakers, but bob cant hear me.
Its PaPPy on your dip switch configuration add a 7 to the ON position in addition to what you have already turned on. Go to your factory backup camera picture settings to to change the screen for a better look, and make sure the microphone cable is connected properly. The cable is part of the main harness which can be easily missed. Also if you haven’t already do not forget to tune the carplay volume and set your phone settings call audio routing to Bluetooth headset as indicated on the instruction manual. can you swipe on it I mean even though you said it can’t i didn’t even see you try and if it really can’t I might not consider it. Also another question can I buy this kit on amazon?
Swiping function is dependent on the radio's ability to have the sensor to do so. Unfortunately it's about 50/50 chance.
The problem I’m having is that the carplay only show up for 2 minutes, and it will switch back to the other screen. I tried to double click the power button but it won’t let me go back to Apple Carplay.

Yes the system accepts both iPhone and android. You can switch between phones anytime

No swipe? You sure about that? Factory system acknowledges swiping for some navigation elements like scrolling through station lists. Other demonstrations of this tech on TH-cam indicate swiping is possible. Ideas?
Mister Koll On the RAV4, made by fujitsuten, the radio does not release any signals when swipe motion is made on the screen per our engineer. If you can share the link with video demonstrating this swiping tech on a RAV4 with Fujitsu ten radio I’ll forward it to our engineer for further development

Mister Koll it appears that some Fujitsu ten swipe works while others don’t. If your radio’s swipe is working now, swipe will also work during carplay use. I checked your radio model number that your provided during checkout and it looks like your radio swipe will work. Sorry for the confusion.

This isn’t an aftermarket double din. It’s factory and all buttons still function normally

So how long does the system take to boot up? noticed a cheeky jump cut.
About 3-5 seconds. It boots faster than your factory radio.

Yes your 2017 RAV4 is compatible as long as you don’t have the 360/birds eye view camera

This kit works with all the factory screen sizes
I only WISH my factory 2014 RAV4 XLE AWD Entune system still worked and if it did I would try this Apple carplay/Android Auto device. My Entune system, like that on many other2014 RAV4s, went into a continual "booting" screen at around 56k miles (I bought the car with 48k miles and the factory 3/36 warranty had expired), and isn't useful for anything other than a paper weight. Toyota makes a poor product in these Entune systems, and customer satisfaction isn't high on their priority list :-(

Ted Celestin volume and phone controls are retained in the steering wheel. Multi info from the native screen will need to switch back to native screen to see

We do not as it is difficult to organize the interfaces, adapters and harness all plugged together in the organized box that we prepared and looking pretty. We can if you would like us to for an additional $20, which will include the wires all Tessa taped and organized with appropriate wire lengths. However, note that the product will come looking like it does not fit in the box properly. (Imagine PS4 game console arriving with all the controllers, power supply, and video cables pre-connected). Please let me know if you have additional questions.
