You know what I'd like to see in CB3? Fake Crash location at start of the game, when having 0% completion, and the future levels from really far, to see if they still render, but I don't think so, they're way too complex.
I have some requests for Crash 2 and 3 please! In Crash 2 for the jungle levels, the bonus stages/hidden paths usually have a window through the rock openings to a nicely rendered background with trees and scenery. It'd be cool to fully explore areas like that. As for Crash 3, my personal request would be to explore the prehistoric dinosaur levels more. There's a Yellow Gem path I believe that comes to an end with a tall stack of steel crates preventing you from walking any further, but the ground itself seems to continue towards the distance. It'd be amazing to find out what's over there! Another good one would be to look into the secret warp room in Crash 3 where Cortex's minions are being cloned in the background to see what happens before and after they enter the cloning device.
I am SO excited for the next couple games. I hadn't subbed to you quite yet and found your videos in my recommended, being oh so curious to see what you can find. Crash was my childhood and I love NST, being an avid time trialer. Your videos are wonderful and so are you! Enjoy your summer and take your time with the next video. You've earned a sub. :)
This was really good lmao, another goddamn masterpiece by Shesez :D As for suggestions, I'd probably ask Where Dr. Cortex and Uka Uka go in the Crash Warped final boss when they fall in that hole on the stage. That's always baffled me lol
Matt Trulock The Scientists stop driving far away at the end of the road after the finish line. Engines are still running but they are standing there into each other.
Man I remember Crash Bandicoot commercials for the ps1 back in 2000-2001 when I was 12-13 years old. I never played the games but geez this is sooo nostalgic!!! Thanks for yet another wonderful melancholic episode Derek.
Yes I'm excited that you will be doing crash 3 however still wanna see the original version of crash 3 done, because you may just find a secret or at least clue to a secret I know is on the game that I've been searching for forever now, that apparently hasn't been found yet. That is that there is a real final battle with cortex and uka that's in the secret warp room! And so if breaking the camera does find this that will be amazing because I wonder how it's found and that if it was even added to the N sane trilogy version.
I just need to say this: the horrified face you made when talking about your cringy Crash 1 intro was hilarious and made my day. Keep up the good work, Shesez! These videos are just awesome.
I don't know, it was cut out of the original video before I could see it. All I'm aware of from this video is that it involved the old game's spear traps.
Grumpy Goose See, I wouldn't imagine it would impact load times. Chances are, they are included in every single level so it's not like new textures or geometry information have to be loaded (Except maybe position).
It wouldn't make much difference to the load times. Those shapes all have fairly low poly counts. The load time is more to do with the disc form factor. Just look at the Switch version.
Just started watching your videos, but I'm so upset I haven't been watching sooner. I love behind the scenes stuff and it's especially interesting to see to what length game devs will go to executd their visions. Anyways keep rockin' man. I would love to see either a Fallout 3, God of War 3, or Red Dead Redemption video.
At the beginning I thought you said "welcome to the 90 second episode" and was about to be disappointed you only gave a minute and a half to this game.
That last shot of stormy ascent really illustrates two things. 1. Wow developers are really good at making random 's' shapes look like they are part of a larger building/ 2. Wow, you imagination really does fill in a lot. Because most of that building is missing.
Hey you know how the next intro could start? During a polar bear run you could place the camera inside a totem pole & then it would look like Crash crashed into the camera.
I like the sweet spot circular thing you found in the level. it shows how complex the platforming really is. if you don't jump in exactly the right place with the right action, you restart.
I just found you recently and aside from the FANTASTIC content; I absolutely love how genuine you are and how you give shout-outs to people who contributed. Like you don't do a little small "they kinda helped me here" like you make sure to give them big ups no matter what they did. It's refreshing to see and it really shows who you are as a person.
Only a handful of TH-camr's have shows that I actually watch and always look forward to, Boundary Break is one of them. Excellent content as always Shesez, cannot wait to see Crash 2 and Crash 3!
Great episode as always! Your work is really just.. something else! I was thinking Have you ever considered doing a Borderlands 2 boundary break? Im sure theres tons of things hidden from the players view that could be worth uncovering! Also thanks again for everything you do!
The reason a lot of games have models hidden at the beginning of levels is because a lot of engines use instances of that model. It's hard to explain, but basically an instance model is a copy of a model, except anything you change on the original is applied to all the other copies you made, which saves you the time of hunting them down and changing each one manually.
Awesome video! Finishing on a dramatic slow fade-to-black of Coco's crotch was unexpected, though! My only gripe with the N-Sane Trilogy is how well they remade it, right up to the point that it lacks subtitles. :( For those who are hard-of-hearing, or don't speak English as their first language, this should've been an opportunity to finally get to experience the cut-scenes for themselves first-hand. Hardly related to Boundary Break, of course, but I still felt I wanted to say that! :) I'd love to see a Boundary Break on the Croc games if you haven't already done so!
Shesez, you're getting better, and better with your videos! It's rather convenient how the game stores all that data while it's running! This may explain why the game has such long load times, though..
The checkered pillars beneath levels are basically developer checkpoints. Most levels have more than one of them for quickly returning to a point. Either being an angle, or reverting to a previous state.

@Shesez As for me every episodes you dedicate to games that I actually played, it's like looking inside the Pandora vase without opening it! Thank you for this one! :D
I was playing n sane trilogy today and i said "I hope somebody did a Out of Bounds video, because this stage looks so cool!" And after 6 hours of that, i find this video. Awesome!
I like this way of using noclip and or hacking or just breaking the game and not the other way others do it because you get to show off the little things left in game and just give us a education on that every game or level
that just looks funny to me. Reminds me of a naked mole rat or an old man from a cartoon XD The way Cortex and Tawna are placed before the bonus, now THAT looks terrifying.
Usually we use the checkerboard texture to allign the texture to the object. It prevents weird stretched textures and helps with wrapping the texture on the object.
I want to say those pillars at the beginning of the level may be parents to set up the cycles of all the pillars in the level. Not 100 percent sure, but that what I imagine its there for.
My friend wants to see if there's anything hidden in the motorcycle levels, if there's anything inside the UFOs in the Area 51 level, and maybe a zoom out of every boss fight. Lastly he wants to see if N.Gin has any legs or if there's anything hidden in his mechs.
If you have done any sort of map making you would know what the 'developer texture cylinder is'. Its basically just an untextured cyclinder polygon, rendered at the start of the level, so that later on in the level its loads quicker. That cylinder is essentially copied, retextured, has its size adjusted and then put elsewhere on the map. Loading a simple full texture then doing the changes to it is much faster than just loading hundreds of different individual ones. It also means you can script each different cylinder, as a sub-class of the original and you dont have to make totally seperate sprites/objects from them. I recommend you do some basic level creation as that knowledge will greatly help you and the viewers in future episodes.
Theory on the unused platforms at the beginning of the levels. Crash is a cycle based game, with local and global cycles. Local cycles are triggered by proximity, whereas global cycles start at the beginning of the level. What if global cycles are implemented by making an unseen local cycle object at the beginning of the level (the platform under the terrain in this case) and then having all the objects that will also be on that global cycle to reference that platforms position in the cycle. In layman's terms, if the unseen platform is a quarter the way through its cycle, all the cycle based objects that reference the platform will also be a quarter the way through their cycles too.

When spyro Remastered comes out can you make a video about that?

But I can't imagine that he wouldn't do three episodes on that.
