this is one of her videos which I would rate as The best. it's just so awesome to see her friends, who are just as awesome as she is. wow! must be wonderful. the only thing that I felt sad about, though, was when I found out that the by chance thing was just a show, and they had actually planned this cookie math project.
Hello Dear Vihart, I just discovered your work on youtube today thanks to a composer friend for the link. I have never seen anyone make 12 tone music composition so easily understood or better composed and performed in such a simple way. This is genius. You rock kiddo. Your level of understanding both science and art is uncommon and appreciated. Looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful mind in action. Love those doodles too. Wishing you all the best.
Wow, this is crazy. After seeing the John Conway video on numberphile where he mentioned hexaflexagons, I looked to see if vi had posted any videos recently, but there hadn't been one in three months, so I was disappointed. Then I went to get lunch and came back to find one had been posted.
This video was so cool and interesting to me. I loved how it took something that we all love to do (bake) and made math fun out of it. Also, it made me realize that everything involves math. Whether it is shapes, measurements, lines, etc., there is math all around us no matter where we are. I was confused by all of the big names for the different shapes and figures, but it was still so cool to me. I want to try and make some of the structures she made with cookie dough. I bet it won't work out as good but it is worth a try. And I loved how they made their own cookie cutters! Never thought of that before!
you know that thing about someone walking down a normal street block with a bunch of experts on various stuff, so that the experts can point out stuff they wouldn't have seen and explain it to them and allow them to appreciate stuff that would usually be very mundane? that's what's going on here i think
I am going to watch this channel all winter break. My teacher said we were learning geometry. Yes ! Finally I watched you tube for educational purposes,
I am not sure why I found this video so funny, but to me it was hilarious. I loved all of her goofy touches in the background like the drawings and labeling. Although listening to all the different names for the shapes was interesting, it was also extremely confusing. She sounds like an extremely smart but also super cool person! what intrigued me about this video was that it was about cookies, but by the end I was more interested in all of the different patterns and shapes that they made.
Whenever I loose faith that my math teacher is teaching us anything useful, I turn to your videos. They're super fun to watch to avoid doing my homework!
No one has ever taught me true mathematics before, but you have! I feel as if math in school just doesn't describe how beautiful geometry truly is. You are really an inspiration and a true creator! I'm definitely subscribing and wish I could have found this channel sooner!
Why can't school be like this? I would gladfully learn and ask questions about math if I knew I could make fun cookies out of it. Learning theories on paper is so..... not engaging.
Wow, this looks like so much fun. Just a bunch of friends making cookies and talking about math. It's not even work to them, it's what they love to do.
Walter, the Walter dog, saved you from the abyss of math you were spiraling into. You think he was just being a dog, but really he was pulling you back from the complicated math that you were subconsciously immersing yourself in, being pulled by a unceasing desire to make the cookies mathematically correct. Who knows what might have happened if he did not. Anyways, cool video😃!
I thought this video was very interesting in that all the shapes ended up working so well together and were so clean cut! what confused me was you know how these shapes would work together and part of how you know this was from formulas. This video inspired me to start thinking like they thought in the video when making things or cooking or just being artistic. This was very interesting!
Am I the only one who isn't well-versed in the nomenclature involved in classifying 3-dimensional figures? Is there a resource I can go to to try and learn what all these classifications mean?
The math is simple: Walter + Cookies = Walter
No, Walter + Cookies = Happy Walter, cookie crumbs on the floor, and dismayed female mathematicians.
Or really any mathematicians.
Walter has the same properties as infinity here
WALTER IS INFINITE, "BOW" DOWN TO WALTER
ah i see cookies are the additive identity with respect to dogs
Walter+cookies= fat Walter
Why don't they teach math like this? It would be so much fun!
Especially with cookies.
And then get out all your math stress by tearing those cookies apart and eating them like a maniac. Sounds about right
randomgirl L why don’t they show these in class?!?!?!?
It’d be delicious too!

I was afraid she was going to make a hexa-flexacookie
