Isn't it crazy that most of us, went from children full of joy to bitter, depressed adults who pretend on social media their life is so good but only from the outside, people lost the connection to them selfs and run after materialistic things in hope that these things will make them happy

Sounds to me like your realizing and recognizing this which is good friend. Those naysayers who wish to attempt to embarrass rather than discuss, help, and learn are most likely those with issues they won't discuss. It would reveal the unjustified guilt a lot of us must shake off to see the world for what it is and take responsibility for our lives and happiness. There is no happiness in degradation of others. Stay up😎.

This CD has three separate relaxation/meditation sessions on it th-cam.com/users/postUgkxzpa8CIfZcihW4Z0F_ja0QF3W9KIatrsq guided by a very pleasant and direct male voice. Unlike so many other products of its type, this CD does not have bad synthesizer music, does not feature a phony or affected style of narration, and does not make any bogus claims to be subliminal or to re-train the brain or any of that balderdash. What you get is 1. a guided meditation for getting into a pleasantly relaxed state of body awareness while taking a stroll (superb for those easing back into a fitness routine slowly after an illness or injury) 2. A nice long breath-awareness relaxation session that if followed diligently can put you into very deep states of full-body relaxation and mental calmness, and 3. a buddhist-inspired meditation session designed to help you develop and maintain feelings of loving kindness toward not just yourself and your friends, but toward people you don't even like. The CD makes no claims to be designed for advanced meditators or for buddhists or hindus/yoga practitioners looking for very deep and esoteric stuff. It is geared more toward the average person who just wants to develop the habit of relaxation and stress relief through natural, healthy means. him, if you happen to be reading this, keep up the good work fella, and I love your accent. I would also like to note that I have never fallen asleep while listening to this product. I would like to kindly suggest to the reviewer who said this CD makes him fall asleep, that he might want to get checked to see if he has a sleep disorder, or if he is simply not setting aside ample time for restful sleep at night. A healthy person getting adequate rest at night should be able to go into deep states of mental relaxation without dozing off, if not all the time, then most of the time.

"You end up in bad places one step at a time. So best to watch the steps" Sage advice. A downward spiral happens sequentially.....one small step at a time....one after another til you have arrived. Same sequence for an upward spiral. You end up in good places....one step at a time.

It just boggles the mind how certain groups of people pillory and castigate this guy. It's inconceivable to me that any sane, decent, intelligent people can denigrate this man after listening to him. To me it seems obvious that they haven't. This man has such depth of humanity and wisdom. I try to model myself (unsuccessfully I might add) after him and thank God everyday that there are people like him on the planet. What a blessing.

the most happy people in life I've ever encountered have strangely also been some of the hardest working people. Also, those whom realize that there is so many things in life that are are more important than money or material things. That is what makes you purely happy. Watching your children grow or experiencing true love or through life obtaining such a wealth of knowledge that makes one wise beyond one's years and conveying that to others to help and better the place one inhabits. Such as Mother Earth.

This is the very reason why I decided to learn to play the guitar. I feel like my life is on cruise control with my work, and I have no definitive goals as an employee other than being the best I can. Music and BBQ on the other hand, I am very passionate about. I take tremendous joy in watching others enjoy my creations. That's the kind of stuff that makes life worth living.
For those that think starting a business is the answer, it isn't always. I make an exceptionally good living and as a small business owner, the chances of making more than I do now is unlikely. If I started another business the amount of freedom to do what I want would go down and the hours I work would most certainly go up. That just doesn't make sense to me at the moment.

When driving a car, if you focus only on the goal and not the massive boulder that's blocking the road, you will total your car and possibly lose your life. But if you don't even get into the car out of fear of what could happen, it's on you too (you miss 100% of the shots you don't take). Neither recklessness nor cowardice will get you far.

We are all in our own Groundhog Day. Do we choose to look at life as a glass half full or a glass half empty? We can fill our days and lives with pursuing goals such as learning a musical instrument or ice sculpting. We can help others where possible. We can try and spread a little joy. Smile etc. Or we can be a glass half empty type. We can be sinical and sarcastic. Mean and unwilling to help others. Fail to look for the positives in our lives. It's easier said than done for some people, but just recognising these possibilities is half the battle won imo.

Loved the breaking bad analogy… I was deeply affected after watching that show and I believe it started me on a path to something - realisation of mortality for one thing, but also a sense of urgency when it came to living to my fullest potential. That was probably ten years ago, I’m still taking steps along that path, I’ve quit/am quitting my career and still struggling to focus on what my new goals should be. I’ve let myself become distracted by a lot of bs in recent months but Dr. Peterson, along with trying to immerse myself in other great philosophies, is helping me to hopefully start taking better steps. So grateful for this man, and so saddened to see how maligned and misunderstood he is.

Joseph Campbell said it best "Follow your bliss" Well, most people don't know how. They don't know what their bliss is. I'll give you a clue. The one thing you love to do where 5 hours seems like five minutes. The other is to have work that you enjoy. I am a Blacksmith. My mother cried when I told her I wanted to be a Blacksmith! My Dad just shook his head. I did it anyway. I have been a Blacksmith now for over 40 years. I have no regrets. The skills I have learned over the years is now paying off in a big way. Almost total self reliance building a Timber Frame mountain lodge cabin for my wife and I to retire built with lumber I milled myself , made with tools I made with my own hands. I had a dream my whole life of building our home with my own hands. I'm 66 years old. My wife is 65. This is the greatest adventure of our lives. Even if I die today I'll have a lived a wonderful life and leave a legacy to my children and grandchildren of a home that is a debt-free refuge, sanctuary and a place of safety for them long after I'm gone. I'm at peace and I'm a very happy man.

To whomever put together the visual montage: please, oh please, let the photos stay for at least 5 seconds! Less than 2 seconds per frame is distracting from the message, doesn't give the eyes time enough to process what's there before it's gone, and contributes to our brains being wired to constantly expect change. Every day at any age is a learning experience. Yes, it's true reality hits when you realise your parents are just like you and got to where they were one step at a time, whether it be a good or bad place. We all have the ability but how much we want to reach our goal while surviving the stress & responsibility to get to it is what will make you fulfilled. It's not the things in life like more money so pursuing difficult courses to become a doctor or lawyer bc the money is good is not what life is about. For most it is to find a way to achieve a goal that will sustain you financially as well as the work itself is rewarding. This doesn't mean there won't be stressors or anxiety along the way but using those times to change our attitudes to gratitude towards those stressors will change our altitude and make it easier for us to reach our goals. #❤JPsBrilliantMind

Some people want to be independent and will never be fullfilled and happy working a 9-5 job. Even if they lie to themselves and say they are, deep down they know that they could be living a much better life. So they ask other people for advice, and get discouraged when they hear "get a safe job that pays well". This leads to frustration and depression, living life in a passive mode. A small percentage of these people realises it and decides to pursue their goals. Then of those people, some quit while others push through pain and tribulations, eventually reaching their dreams. This is why only a few succeed, if one realises this, takes action everyday without losing enthusiasm when facing failures, he will inevitably become succesful.

    I’ve never really understood goals.
Yes, I get that you focus on a particular goal maybe saving up to buy a bicycle, big tv or whatever- work hard /save & maybe you will achieve(atleast that’s what I thought) but what of it? & as such goal setting has never gripped me. JPs explanation of goals: the underlying circuitry, positive emotion, moving forward etc is nothing short of genius- this is the kind of deep, simply explained teachings that we need.

I remember as a child looking forward to holidaying at my grannies house in the Scottish Islands more than Xmas and I got good presents but nothing eclipsed the excitement. Now at almost 60 year old I have the chance to retire there but there are doubts that once I'm settled it might not be the answer. So I believe that if I can't get to be happy here then after a while I might get the same effect there. Its a tough one if I'd made any sense that is.

Nothing is set in stone bar your epitaph.. Not a great feeling i presume to be at near death and wishing that youd made more mistakes in life ..as in you played it too safe . At the same time i understand what you are saying Nearly always a change of surroundings brings different feelings which in turn makes for a different mindset..tho you have to be willing to put in the work ...happiness doesnt come and fall in your lap for anybody.... What i mean when i say nothing is set in stone is.... Stop taking everything so seriously life is supposed to be a song and a dance ..and if uou cant fathom that concept Sir then you will never be happy . Best not to overthink best to do it, if it doesnt work out ,just try something else and something else and something else ..on and on ..its possible you may never acheive the desired happiness your looking for by doing this ..but you wont regret not having tryed new things and also the fact that things will change along the way like perspevtives and goals as you meet new people and new places as you develop on your journey . To stay stagnant out of fear of change and the result of change ..is the other option thats called a sort term safety plan...better to live a short life full of things you like doing than a long life spent in a misserable way .. The last sentence is by philosopher,: The late Alan watts .. He has many many lectures on life and he is worth listening to ..peterson and watts is where its at for me ..I think watts can help you .youl find him on youtube, he helped me. Truth &Love

@@dionoconnell8973 Excellently put and true as fear (False evidence appearing real) has had many people take their dreams and talents to the cemetery. The worst part of it for me is I'm in a position to do it and would also be a grand a year better off and in a house that is fully attached and walking distance to the cold sea. As long as one room in the house is liveable then that's good enough for me. I hate the busyness of London and the rude people I see daily so I'm already starting the empty the flat and not allow any new stuff in.

@@johnmacdonald3282 False evidence appearing real ..i like that,im making a mental note of it. To be fair john it all sounds like an amazing change of lifestyle, and i know what your saying as i coulnt live in a big city in the UK anymore ,hence i left that all behind in my mid twenties which was 20 ago.. I like the rural cottage lifestyle that i have in Eire. It was my dads house, and after he passed i sold absolutely everything i had and worked my fingers to the bone to be in a position to buy it. As a teen before moving to the Uk id helped my dad rebuild this house from the derelict old caved in thatch cottage that it was(also only a one liveable room at the time) ...hence alot of memories for me here and i couldnt see it go to anybody else ..as my mum and dad were seperated for 6 yrs but not legally and my dad died intestate there was awful friction due to a certain mercenary family members, and it hasnt been an easy ride to be living in an absolutely gorgeous country home free of mortgage... And here i am and everywhere i look is entirely dads work, all his beautiful master craftsmanship carpentry, i even managed to retain 7 of the 15 acres so im quite privaleged to be in the position that i am.I made alot of sacrifices along the way but its a real honour to be able to utilise and maintain the smallholding that my dad cherished so.
In any case thats way more than enough about me .. I do so hope your adventure works out to be as exciting as the first step sounds...i like the sound of the seashore!.., that extra yearly cash youl be saving will help alot towards doing up the house, I see a grand and i visualise a good woodburning stove and a pile of dry seasoned timber .
Best of luck man and you deserve it for putting up with all them london plonkers you speak of.
      Dont forget john.........

Responsibility is the key to freedom and prosperity. Self discipline is the secret to happiness. The important thing is that your responsibilities are integrated with the bigger picture of your life, such as family and relationships. We hear lots of blame these days, but nothing in life will ever bring you as much as personal responsibility.

Once you learn to not seek the unsustainable emotions of happiness and a fulfillment of the materials things of this world, you truly will find the understanding of being content and being able to live and experience the ups and downs of life without allowing yourself to be effected by the the reality of life. Understand that the only truly good thing that transcends the nature of the world is the joy in your heart and mind, that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savoir and take heart in the fact that he has already won the battle for our souls. Accept that and everything else is irrelevant. You are never alone with Christ in your heart.
