    James Joseph Brown (May 3, 1933 - December 25, 2006) was an American singer, dancer and musician. The central progenitor of funk music and a major figure of 20th-century music, he is referred to by various nicknames, among them "the Hardest-Working Man in Show Business", "Godfather of Soul", "Mr. Dynamite", and "Soul Brother No. 1".
    LINEUP
    James Brown; Cynthia Moore, Damon Wood, Danny Ray, Erik Hargrove, Fred Thomas, George Nealy, Hollie Farris, Jeffrey Watkins, Keith Jenkins, Kelly Jarrell, Leroy Harper, Robert Thompson, Roosevelt Johnson, Sara Raya, Sheila Wheat, Tommi Rae Hynie, Willie Ray Brundidge, Yonna Wynne.
    ABOUT James Brown (at the time of the concert)
    It would be hard to find to find someone at The North Sea Jazz Festival who doesn’t know James Brown. Even his title of honour The Godfather of Soul is common knowledge. Not everybody knows, though, that the man had 114 songs in the Billboard R&B Singles Charts. 94 of these singles made it to the Hot 100 and 17 claimed the top position. Not bad for a formerly poor, black boy. In 1965 he had his first pop hit with Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag and in the ten years to follow he scored hit after hit with Sex Machine as the undeniable greatest. Some more figures. During the James Brown Revues the dancing singer lost seven pounds per night. Brown is in his seventies now, but his shows are still guaranteed to be real happenings.

    I still regret to this day never having seen him live in concert. I met Billy Cobham, years ago and he said playing with James was an amazing experience. When I asked him why he left, he said because I could not afford working for him anymore. The fines added up according to Billy.

      No, they did it wrong. It was not professional that first announced it to the band and let the band play for it. Whatever they gonna do, you don't bring out. James Brown and then the band coming to do a song that aint how it works. Anybody that's professional would know that. Today they messed.I hope they don't do it that way.No more.
      It was so unprofessional

    In The Hague, there were two large stages where artists performed one after another. Even during the setup of the concert, the audience was already waiting for Mister Brown. Personally, I expected to see an old man, but nothing could have been further from the truth: the energy, the musical perfection. One of the best concerts I've ever seen.

    He change it up some. A mans world. I like it when he sings it the original way and a band plays it more soul full with the funk mixed it. Here it was good but a little dragging to me. My opinion but everyone knows James brown is king of soul and funk mix. I seen James Brown several times in concert and its always a great show. With his age he has cut back on some of those crazy dance moves which are not easy to do while singing and performing.

    • @xplaybwoix
      @xplaybwoix หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah he stopped doing the splits in the 80's and was still very fast moving in the 90's but the freestyling crazy days of the 60's and 70's were not there as much. Maybe in a few short moments in shows but on the whole he slowed down, understandbly when you think of all the shows he did and amount of crazy dance moves. But you never knew which dance moves he would do on any show, even he probaly didn't because up to the end he was still very insinstice and great at freestyling moves. We were very lucky to see him still dancing and doing moves into his 70's all things considered.

    I want to say by this show that God it came on first. Who said James Brown? They shouldn't introduce this ban first I mean you know, they built and James Brown up. Then they call this band to come to a show that's killing the show. He said he should have introduced him and let them do this song. And when they finished the song they need came back up and die in with his dynamic bro. James Brown out, but they did it backwards. This was not professional. I know my man, James Brown.I'm a tooth.Let him don't ever let them do that again.Because they are killed to show that way

    It’s good, but The JB’s to me are on the level of The Stones/Led Zeppelin/AC/DC. So he may have fined them more for flubs lines, which should have been nothing for James to really get stressed about. This line up seems to do exactly as he wants and yet its lacking some sober to grit. Like it’s too polished to my ears.
