@@TheClackShack yes but having the z1 I was hoping the review with the z1 would have been better not choosing to make a Franken-laser with an Ortur Frama / Comgrow head combo. Still think the z1/Comgrow head is a better combo. Makes the z1 super fast (maybe faster than the Ortur) and still accurate and repeatability is not affected.
Good review. Good solution to fix what should never have been an issue. That seems a huge oversight on the part of the designers to not be plug and play compatible with one of their flagship products.
Nice test. Can you easily re mount the original 10W module or is it a time consuming process to switch back? Ortur sent me a svg template to cut out standoff spacers that can be installed using the existing limit screws on the side rails. I really do like my LM3 but sometimes wish it had a little more juice. I am holding out for their 20W upgrade, but this Comgrow option looks decent.
Not my favourite manufactures, this module should not have sold as a single module but a complete unit well presented as you normally show to us the viewers, nice one David
Why not mount the 20W module high enough on the Z1 so that the 20W's hose and handle don't hit the side frames, and then just bring your work piece up a corresponding distance, to bring it into focal range? Like maybe stack two or three honeycombs? Or am I missing something?
Great video! I may have to get one! The only laser I have is the Comgrow Z1. I have already been talking to them about adding limit switches on all four sides and I think that would be necessary for this larger module. It should work with the standard model. The pro has limit switches and there would be a similar issue to what I had with the Z1. I have found that if you run current position and hand place, it is easier to avoid crashes. Also have to downsize the workspace dimensions some.
