    I agree 100%. I too intermittent fast every day. I only eat one meal a day and have done so for over 2 years now. The health benefits are amazing! I have a rescue dog with a congenital heart condition. I was told that she would live most of her life on medications and MAYBE live to be 7. She does not/has not taken any medication and is now almost 14 years old. I attribute that to feeding high quality raw, fasting and homeopathy.

      I'm very interested in this response. My homeopathic vet suggested varying feeding times and high quality raw and home cooked feeding. Our fur baby was parasitic and we had her treated with traditional steroid methods initially, which she's still recovering from 2.5 years later (weight wise).

      Well you are lucky that homeopathy does nothing. But for the rest, I really congratulate you! You've drastically improved the lifespan and healthspan of your dog

    Hi, I used to give food to my dog twice in a day. But between this at noon I give him curd since, very hot and humid weather. Is it ok pls. let me know.

      We're not sure what you mean by curd. It would be best to discuss with your vet what would be best for your specific dog :)

      “Curd” is fresh cheese (aka, Indian paneer).

    • @DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM

      Dogs should not be fasted until they are adults. Depending on the size of puppy, it would be best to feed more frequent meals until they are older :)

    I have no problem fasting my dogs for 24 hours. If a dog is sick I fast it. When it's sick the body does not need food to digest. I make sure it drinks plenty of water. In time the dog gets better. Thank you Dogs Naturally for this informative video.

    Love this info. We try to feed our dog in a 8 hr window everyday. However, how do you do once a day if the dogs tends to have the hunger pukes? And also, when needing to exercise or train the dog most times you give treats. How do you fit these with feeding only once a day. That’s hard.

    • @modelsupplies
      @modelsupplies 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Get dehydrated beef or salmon for treats. Cut out the processed carb filler foods. The protein keeps the hunger at bay and is what they would naturally eat in the wild.

      @@modelsupplies thanks. My dog eats raw and we make our dehydrated treats also (beef liver/kidney/fish/etc). However, she tends to have hunger pukes with certain proteins( not all the time), but we are feeding twice a day in an 8 hr window, fast for 16. Once a day I don’t think would suit her, and was wondering about the treats since most people tend to train throughout the day, not necessarily during feeding time

    My dog has been fasting her entire life. Not because I was smart enough to fast her but because she refuses to eat more than once a day.
    She is very healthy. Super lean, super muscle mass and extremely athletic.
    She was smarting enough to know what I didn't, that eating once a day for her was better. lol

    Been intermittent fasting my dog for @5 years (he just turned 10). He eats between 11am -5pm. Interestingly enough, I was about to fast him for a day cause he's having a gastrointestinal issue at the moment, which was cleared up by doing a 24 hour fast last time(after he was put on antibiotics). And then this video showed up in my email not long after I decided. Funny how that happens.

    Yes, great post. Wolfy is 15 and a half...been on raw food and organic veggies, raw egg and other suppliments for most of his life. He's got arthritis so give him a couple of paracetamol wrapped up in a little bit of butter. Is this a problem if he's going to fast?

    this was a great video, thanks. I feed my dog once per day always between 6 -7 PM every day. So if I understand the video correctly this is enough or should I do once per week a twice per day with two small meals? I wasn't quite clear on that. Or do you mean stretching out the time once or twice a week so once day feed between 8-9 PM instead

    Could you please point me in the right direction?? My dog has been diagnosed with lymphoma and has been treated with chemotherapy with I hate doing because I have read up on it but my boyfriend is not on the same page. Do you think that fasting would help him in that area? I have changed his diet to raw. He gets Bones & Co plus Bark Boost, Laetrile B17, Primal Bone Broth and a little pumpkin sometimes and plain Greek yogurt. Your advice would be greatly appreciated!!

    So my 10 year old Rat Terrier is going through a "tummy upset" as we speak. She last ate supper at 6 last night. She became Ill hours after and through the night. 7 AM she could not poop. But by 11 AM I walked her and she pooped, it wasnt hard it was like "play Dough" consistency. So I'm planning to feed her again at 6 pm 12 hours. Do you think I should skip todays feeding until tomorrow at 6-7 AM? Your help is appreciated! I'm Fasting along with her now

      Hey Carol! You know your dog best! If this were my dog, I probably would fast her over night and then feed breakfast just to give her a break if there are signs of digestive upset. You could try offering her some bone broth instead of a full meal for dinner! - Katelyn

    New puppy Akita , need 3 times will feed raw diet probably when 1 year will do. Any comments on this subject ?

    • @DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM
      @DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You might want to look into nutrigenomics, which is the ability for foods (and toxins in them) to change your puppy's cells and DNA. Arguably, it's most important to feed a fresh food diet as early as possible to better protect his DNA from dangerous mutations and damage. Kibble is so much higher in toxins and inflammatory foods than raw, so why wait a year to feed it? If you're worried about mineral balance, buy a premade raw food that's complete and balanced.

    Our bodies need food for energy- if you are feeding your pet good food then then the correct amount food twice a day is good. I personally eat three times a day. I live a busy lifestyle and need to have energy-- I cannot imagine making my dog only eat once a day. Too much food at one time.. Thanksgiving every day- no thank you. I guess we all have our opinions. Interesting info to think about for sure..

    I have a question. I have a 9 year old female boxer who's been fed kibble all her life due to my ignorance. September 2021, I began adding fresh veggies and cooked meats to her kibble. 3 months ago, I switched her to Dr Harvey's Paradigm base mix. She's been fed at 6 am and 6 pm all her life. How would I go about switching to 8 am and 4 pm-do I just switch her or should I just gradually narrow it down? And would the fasting help her lose weight? She's about 6 lbs overweight and has moderate arthritis in her entire spine. I'm new to holistic health and have never heard of fasting a dog til recently. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated! Great video! Learning a lot! Thank you!

      We can't say for certain if fasting can help with weight loss, but as for the time switches just gradually push the time out longer! She will catch on :)

    Fasting is very good for health and I agree with you 100 percent but I volunteer with local animal control and when I foster dogs most are unfortunately so very thin that I simply don't have it in me to fast them, even when they get to a normal weight. I don't want any of them to ever fear of going hungry ever again. My own dogs are a little chubby. I know thinner is healthier but I assure you my boys are very active and happy. 💜

      if you feed these 2 meals during a time window, such as noon for 1st meal and 6 PM for the second meal, then you dogs would still be "fasting" for 18 hours (from 6 PM that night to noon the next day). So, I think this would meet the "intermittent fasting" concept

    Hey, Dana! Great post. Ironically, that's what I've been doing, instinctively. I giver her a full raw meal around 11:00 a.m. and the a beef bone in the afternoon. Then maybe 2x a week, will give her an additional meal. She had been bulking up on 2 raw patties a day so I reduced it but I also felt instinctively it might be better for her. Thanks for confirming. SUGGESTED TOPIC for your: She has lately been developing isolated (a few) round patches (about the size of a dime) on her legs. Not many yet, but her hair seems to be getting thinner lately. She was in 11 in April and has been healthy all her life, but in the past month or so I"m noticing these round hairless patches. Malessezia Furfur? DNM posted an article about this not long ago that I'll look up. She also had to be on her only round of antibiotics last month after being bitten on the leg (small bite but resulted in an infection) so perhaps that has something to do with these furless patches. Any response is appreciated. Thanks for the stellar contribution DNM has made to pet health.
