Fantastic travel videos. I’m born and bred here but you have whetted my appetite to go wandering the cobbled courtyards and streets, with eateries. Some old and well known others will be an adventure and yes Stirling Castle is super doable and really interesting.
The Kelpies are spectacular at night when they are lit by gradually changing coloured lights. I visited on 2nd January a few years ago and they had a light festival. It was fantastic, interactive light shows and performing artists all around the park. Lots of brilliant family entertainment. ( Freezing though .. scarves, gloves and hats a must! 🤣🤣🏴🏴)

Falkirk Wheel and Andy Scott's Kelpies make for a great day out. When you are in the area. I''m definitely in the camp of "Stirling castle is better than Edinburgh". As you say, the staff are dressed up and in character and enthusiastic. Plus just look at the location of it. Edinburgh castle's location is not bad though sitting as it right above the Princes Street gardens and the exit from the rail tunnel (the best way to arrive in EDinburgh imho). By the way, one of the original concepts of sculptor Andy Scott's Kelpies was for them to be moved up and down by the water but the idea was also to allow visitor access inside them which would have brought too many health and safety issues. Urquhart castle is also a cracker for it's Loch Ness location and interest. Nice video thanks guys.

It was pouring down when we were at the top and it was so windy we could barely stand!! I haven't seen proper puff candy in years, it used to be sold everywhere, I miss it! I also prefer Stirling Castle as well. Hope you'll visit Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. You can do cruises on Loch Lomond from Balloch, Luss, Tarbet and Balmaha, have lunch on Inchmurrin Island (private ferry to and from the island!), visit Luss (a famous conservation village that was featured in a soap opera called High Road for many years), visit the viewpoint and art installation at Inveruglas, Visit so many waterfalls (Falls of Falloch, Grey Mares Tail, Falls of Dochart, Falls of Leny, Bracklinn Falls (the most impressive IMO), Inversnaid Falls and Little Fawn), Go for a sail on Loch Katrine, Drive the Duke's Pass, visit Callander, or Aberfoyle and David Marshall Lodge, or do some of the smaller climbs like Conic Hill, Ben A'an, Gouk Hill or the Dumpling. You can tell I used to work for the tourist board! There's tons to do here and not many youtubers or content creators visit cos they're always just passing through!
Glad you’re enjoying the Scotland videos (still one more to come). Cant imagine the difference at the top of the monument in the pouring rain 😂 thank you for all those amazing suggestions, we will definitely be back to explore more when we can so that will help us plan 😊
There’s another Wallace Monument situated in the Borders near Dryburgh Abbey. It is a statue not a large building like this one but worth visiting. It’s near the River Tweed and the small town of St Boswells and Newtown St Boswells. The Borders has a lot of history and scenery.
We call all cold soft drinks juice of some sort. Water is cooncil / council juice. Irn Bru and the like are usually fizzy juice. Oh, except the obvious, fruit juice. We call that poison. ;)
We didn’t go inside as we only had an hour or so before heading to the airport but we will be back to Aberdeen to spend more time there so will make sure we go in next time.
Guys! What's going on? 5 mins in and no coffee!! Mind you, perhaps that is why you could get up there so swiftly, motivated to get done, down and find a cafe to kick start the next part of your day? Ahh! you got some before the withdrawal symptoms hit. Some years back we visited Aberdeen. I liked the way it sparkled in the sun, especially after rain, but the thing I liked most was that there was a shop selling yesterday's bread.
I've not been for 50-odd years, but I felt your pain, boys, as there never used to be a shuttle bus up to the Wallace Monument - nor any of those nice statues and carvings to keep you entertained on the way, either... And the best in the way of displays were backlit panels that did at least include some primary colours! I also advise foreign visitors to visit Stirling Castle rather than Edinburgh, by the way - great minds and all that, eh?
Sounds like they’ve definitely invested in it over the years which is good. We much preferred Stirling castle, not that we don’t enjoy Edinburgh castle too!
St Andrews is nice too. Plus argylle coast and the islands. Plus the Cairngorms... Go n visit balmoral estate. Inverness is great.. i could have been your tour guide. 😂
a rookie error walking up the hill, when you have all those stairs to climb ;). did you catch the section of Roman wall that runs through Falkirk to be fair the only visible bit is the ditch in the grounds of Callendar House
We’d have missed all those wood carvings if we’d have taken the shuttle (that’s what we are telling ourselves anyway 🤣). We missed the wall but apparently that canal tunnel we went through runs right under it!
Are you guys members of English Heritage? If so, you'll get in to Historic Scotland (e.g., Stirling & Edinburgh Castles) and Welsh Cadw properties for half price in Year 1's membership and for FREE thereafter. Shame you missed out on the Antonine Wall - the Roman Wall that stretches from the Firth of Clyde to the Firth of Forth. Quite awesome (you mentioned the Rough Castle tunnel. Rough Castle is a Roman fort on the wall) and it was only just along the hill when you got to the top.
Queen Victoria built a pyramid to Albert, if that’s the tomb you mean, it’s up at Balmoral. Thanks to Scotland’s roaming rights you can visit and I think they even sell tickets for Afternoon tea at Balmoral now but I’ve heard they are like gold-dust.
Everything is juice in Scotland, unless you live in the parts of Scotland where everything is Ginger Irn Bru = juice Cole = juice Pepsi = juice Orange juice = juice Orange Squash = juice If you want real orange juice you have to ask for fresh orange juice If you want orange quash you have to ask for diluting juice
I can't with puff candy. You need floss, a dental pick and a tiny pipe cleaner to even attempt to remove it from your teeth. Amazing though, puts a crunchie to shame.
Why do you have the t-shirt with the red hand on it, its just thats that is my family crest and for obvious reasons we do not use it. The crest came about when my clan tried to win some land, we had a row boat race and who ever touched the land first won the land. My guy was loosing so he just cut his hand off (as you do) and threw it at the land so my clan won the land. The Lamont clan is the third most massicard clan in Scotland. My mother is from the MaCdonald clan, the most massicard clan in Scotland. It's no wonder there is a saying that 'Scotland is built on blood and bone.
We can assure you that hand is not the one from your family crest. If you look closely it is the sections of the hand a palmist would use to ‘read your palm’. It is part of the official merchandise range from some of our favourite TH-camrs, Sam & Colby 👍🏻

We did have a cheeky quick coffee in the cafe before leaving the monument, it just wasn’t in the video - worry not 😂
The real irn bru is the 1901 version. The version you were drinking is the aspartame version. Not a patch on the real stuff.
Sorry for the noise when you was in Stonehaven gentlemen 😂👍🏻
I've not been for 50-odd years, but I felt your pain, boys, as there never used to be a shuttle bus up to the Wallace Monument - nor any of those nice statues and carvings to keep you entertained on the way, either... And the best in the way of displays were backlit panels that did at least include some primary colours! I also advise foreign visitors to visit Stirling Castle rather than Edinburgh, by the way - great minds and all that, eh?
Sounds like they’ve definitely invested in it over the years which is good. We much preferred Stirling castle, not that we don’t enjoy Edinburgh castle too!
@JJExtra Try Craigmillar Castle next time you're in Edinburgh - which is much more interesting. It's also on a hill, in the South-east of the city.
St Andrews is nice too. Plus argylle coast and the islands. Plus the Cairngorms... Go n visit balmoral estate. Inverness is great.. i could have been your tour guide. 😂
Thanks for the tips! A few of those places are already on our radar for a future visit… St Andrews wasn’t though so thanks ☺️
@@JJExtra it's like mini Edinburgh with the poshness level dialled up to 11
@@JJExtra oh and definitely check out the picture postcard coastline in fife including Elie , Anstruther , pittenweem. Stunning places
8:37 Another notable pyramid in Scotland in the Prince Albert Cairn overlooking Balmoral Castle. Not what you expect to see on a Scottish hilltop
Ah, that’s exactly the one we were trying to think of!
a rookie error walking up the hill, when you have all those stairs to climb ;). did you catch the section of Roman wall that runs through Falkirk to be fair the only visible bit is the ditch in the grounds of Callendar House
We are indeed members and don’t worry, we got our free access to both Stirling and Edinburgh castles 😊
@@JJExtra Excellent! 😄
Its pronounced "Dun-NOT-tar" Castle by the way ;) emphasis on the Not
Thank you - it’s always a struggle to get pronunciations right 🙈
1:03 Who are you calling Highland cooze?
🐮 😂
Other Pyramid in Scotland is Prince Albert’s Pyramid at Balmoral castle grounds in Aberdeenshire.
And deep-fried "Mars Bars."
Still haven’t tried one 🙈
@@JJExtra - a Glasgow must have with "Buckfast Tonic Wine."
I love UK, the hate it gets on the internet is annoying!
That’s the one! Can imagine that afternoon tea is near impossible to get in to.
£1.75.for a can of irn bru. You can get for 60p in scotmid
Tourist attraction prices, they get us every time 😂
@@JJExtra yep lol
At night they loght up
Everything is juice in Scotland, unless you live in the parts of Scotland where everything is Ginger
Irn Bru = juice
Cole = juice
Pepsi = juice
Orange juice = juice
Orange Squash = juice
If you want real orange juice you have to ask for fresh orange juice
If you want orange quash you have to ask for diluting juice
We never knew that! Diluting juice… it does kind of make sense 😂
Go and see Fyvie castle
Thanks for the suggestion 👍🏻
I can see the Falkirk Wheel from my house. We get a wee bit blasé about it. P.S i have never been of the Falkirk Wheel, shame on me.
Think we can all be like that with things right on our doorstep… a little jealous though 😜
I can't with puff candy. You need floss, a dental pick and a tiny pipe cleaner to even attempt to remove it from your teeth. Amazing though, puts a crunchie to shame.
Nice one guys always enjoy your videos 🏴🇬🇧 guy in the kilt was probably American !! As youll notice we only wear them at weddings sometimes
We think he may have been a tour guide. The only Scots we saw wearing kilts were either tour guides or playing the bagpipes on the royal mile 🤣
@@JJExtra more than likely guys keep up the great site … head up the west coast …. May i recommend gairloch
You can shuf yer union jack Scottish never British ya bell end
I'm also from clan Macdonald! ❤
I love your Scotland videos. I like that you know you're in Scotland when you come across an IRN BRU. Saying that, I found some IRN BRU in Guernsey, the most southern part of the UK near enough to France.
We do love an Irn Bru and we can get it in supermarkets here but it’s not as abundant as it is in Scotland… which is a shame.
