Hey gametech. What is the difference between this and the standard Hotas 4? Is it just the logo and name? Because it cost a little more than the standard and if there is no difference, I will definitely go for the standard version. Plz answer soon. Thanks
Got the Hotas because I have coordination issues and struggle with flying games on the gamepad so here's hoping it's easier to use. Your video has filled me with some hope that it is.
what is the difference between Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas 4 vs Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas 4 Ace Combat 7 Edition? is it just the logo or are the buttons different?
And mine's 2 days old now and constantly rolls right. It will have to go back. In a constant battle just to control the aircraft. But on the bright side for the 1st 2 days it worked flawlessly.
Yes that was the 1st thing I did because everything was loose and sloppy, I actually opened it up and had to make modifications to the throttle as well, because it was just so loose. I own X52 throttle and joystick for PC as well. And maybe I'm just spoiled and looking for a product that actually works well. And I was just not impressed with this whatsoever. I thought it was a very poor quality. But I was fine with the poor quality as long as it worked. But it doesn't, it's fighting me and the aircraft at this point.
thanks for the review jason.. when i use my Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas on the ps4 in Ace combat 7 the text on screen always shows the buttons from a duel shock controller when in flight and not my hotas.
I bought one to use with my Next Gen Simulator Cockpit. I had to cut the cord and solder about 4 feet of ethernet cable so I could place them on both sides. Had to use two ethernet cables since the HOTAS' cable has 16 strands. Why they don't provide for a longer cable is beyond me.
Yea i agree. I guess they only had so much space underneath the unit to hide it once wrapped around, but annoyingly it would only need to be just a bit longer to be fine for most people.
Oh so that was you on Amazon. I wanted to ask you a question. I don’t have a simulation cockpit and I’ve never used a HOTAS before. Is this a good one to start with?
When the T-flight works, it works beautifully. It is very comfortable. Unfortunately they don't last very long. I am on my second one and it also started giving me problems now. So sad that PS4 players only have this one option. I would gladly pay twice, even 3 times the price of this stick for a better quality one...
I just dusted mine off. I sit in a recliner (not reclined) with the throttle on my left armrest and the stick between my legs. I play Ultrawings on PSVR this way also. It feels so much better with the stick there because you can kind of lean in to your turns. It is more immersive this way imo. It just doesn't feel right to have the stick and throttle on a flat surface in front of you.
I built an inexpensive flight sim rig for my HOTAS, rudder pedals and MFD panels. They all work great with War Thunder, but I can’t get the pedals and panels to work with AC7. I was hoping it would more sim than arcade.
Brian Mahoney Same question here. It seems AC is more arcade than sim. I have the TFRP rudder pedals and MFD panels on my Flight Sim rig that I can use on War Thunder but I can’t figure out if they’ll work with AC.
I hope so. I got the T.Flight Rudder Pedals for War Thunder with Christmas cash last month and I'm having a blast with them. I got the stick and throttle last year (Christmas 2017). Unfortunately, the pedals don't currently work in AC7, but I'm hoping they'll add support for them in an update. In the meantime, I've locked down the twist rudder set screw on the stick and I'm using the rocker on the throttle for making small yaw adjustments. It takes practice to fly with all 4 of your limbs, but once you learn to use pedals with your stick and throttle you'll love them and wonder how you ever got along without them. They're especially great with WWII era fighters for executing various offensive and defensive maneuvers and they add a lot of realism and fun when flying attack helicopter simulations.
Picked one up for fifty bucks brand new. Just don’t see myself paying 200 for the Hori. Got ace combat 7 pre ordered already just waiting for it to come out and pretty excited for the be portion as well. Great video
You will enjoy the VR section mate, especially with the Hotas. The Hori looks great, and i am trying to get hold of one. There has to be a reason it's that expensive.
@@GametechUK the difference I found was there's a rumble feedback feature and there's a headphone jack as well. It doesn't have the joystick twist/rudder feature like the hotas.... so basically you're paying 200 for rumble and headphone jack minus a feature.

Hi. A senior citizen getting into pact. A guide what buttons do what and tips video be nice. Hours into it and haven’t gotten a single enemy yet . Thanks
Cam anyone help in regards to what button changes targets? It's quite frustrating... sorry if I'm being a noob. On the controller it's triangle, on this bit of kit, triangle doesn't do that...?
Hello I got a quick question I got a PS4 and I play ace combat 7 skies unknown and I was wondering what is the difference between that ace combat edition and the regular are they the same?
Bought a Hotas 4 just for AC7 and so far I'm struggling a bit with it. It's nice and all but I think it's really awkward to use the buttons during some missions, like the bombing ones where you are constantly changing weapons/targets and deaccelerating. Also it's super lame that you can't look around and pitch/roll at the same time while using it, something I got super used to do in previous AC games (and it could've been easily assigned to the little analog thing in the joystick). Also, how do you do the Pugachev's Cobra/ Post stall maneuver with it? I think I lost this tutorial. Hope I get more used to it. I'm having fun and all but the Dualshock seems way more precise to handle.
Are there no options to remap the buttons or axis in game? No way to remap head-look to the hat switch (which isn't actually analog) at all? What about different default setups? If not that's a huge bummer. Especially since Elite lets you remap damn near every single thing...
Have you been able to use the thrustmaster TFRP rudder pedals with AC7? I have these sticks but haven’t been able to pair the rudders even after driver/firmware updates.
My PC version of AC7 using a HOTAS4 (PS4 version) displays the on screen guides as an xbox controller. Any idea how to get it to display as the PS4 version that I'm using rather than an xbox controller?
Is there a way to invert game play on the flight stick? On the ps4 controller the option is there, but I can’t find it under the flightstick options. T Flight Hotas for PS3 ace combat had this option.
How uncomfortable is the stick in the left hand? I'm working on an unusual Elite Dangerous setup. I'm considering using this as my left hand setup, alternating between throttle and second stick. I'd use my T16000M stick in my right hand.
@@GametechUK Yeah, I like the idea of having a throttle but I don't care for the TWCS throttle because of the lack of centering. The full T-Flight is actually cheaper than the TWCS by itself, so I was thinking why not get that next to the t16000. The extra joystick would be useful for certain things I'm sure. Thoughts?
@@expresidentzaphod985 thats an idea although both sections are connected via a cable. You wouldn't have the option to just use one section of it. But yes, like you say they are a great price.
All depends on the surface and position i think. With both sections together it wouldn't move anywhere. If both pieces were either side of your desk they would be fine too. Maybe a little double sided sticky tape would be perfect?
No you don't need the pedals. They are great for something like Elite, but with the amount of turning you would need to do in dog fights i think it would end up like an exercise class!
I was ready to get one of these until they announced that the VR portion of AC7 was limited to 3 missions. I still would like to have it but that's a hard sell. How is the Elite Dangerous community?
Is there a difference when it's mentioned on the same joysticks "war thunder" in terms of support when i play AC7? or is it the same joysticks and it'ss just the titles differences?
If you haven’t already done a review for the Thrustmaster HOTAS for Xbox One then can you review it? I play Elite and Ace Combat on Xbox One and am really interested in getting the HOTAS but want a more expert opinion on it
i ordered this controller as well and i may be getting it later today, but my concern is this: the design and button placements on the controller. now granted, the flight stick is designed to mimic an actual fighter jet control system, but for the ps4, i noticed the buttons are on the wrong sides. triangle, x, square, and circle are all on the throttle which is on the LEFT side, whereas on the ps4 controller, those buttons are on the right side. like the controller matches the scheme of an actual plane, but doesn't correspond to that of the ps4 controller and that has me worried so im wondering if this posed as issue for you or anybody else
I understand where you are coming from. The stick ( for most people) would always be in the right hand, and so no way to have buttons on there that you could press at the same time. The Hotas feels very much like a different experience compared to the controller, and so your mind isn't thinking about button placement. These are my thoughts anyway, let me know how you get on with it.
Is this the exact same joystick as the normal Hotas 4? I was going to buy one but the AC7 edition is sold out so I can buy the non branded Hotas 4 and it is the exact same then right? Thanks
I find the throttle resistance far too weak.. ie, there's none. Is it my model is broken, or im just used to the x56... either way i don't like using the throttle, if you take your hand off it when its not locked in the centre it will easily change position..?
It seems there is a dial for resistance under the stick base, no? If so, have you tried it? I added resistance to my PS4 thumbsticks by simply cutting a small hole in a sponge and slipping it over the thumbstick. Looks like shit lol bit it works! I suppose one could do the same here.
I have this stick, but I can't seem to get my ps4 with ac7 to recognize it. The option to alter stick options displays, but the stick does nothing. Yes, I have it plugged into my usb port on the ps4... What am I missing? Does it work in VR mode only or something?
I agree with you 100%, when you play games like these with a HOTAS the immersion is incredible! I got this unit for Elite Dangerous based on your video and I really recommend it to anyone!
I ordered mine the other day, but I'm worried if I'll be able to perform high g turns with the stick, on the controller you need to hold both the break and throttle at the same time, I don't know how this will work on the flight stick or if pulling post stall maneuvers will even be possible with it
There's an option in the options menu to select between holding both acceleration and deceleration and just deceleration to perform high-G maneuvers. Edit: Correcting typo.
Hi mate. Like you say it's not a 200 stick so there is not a heavy, metal feel to the unit. But saying that, it doesn't feel like a cheap toy. It is perfectly priced and ive spent many hours using it, both in Elite and Ace Combat and 100% reccomend it.
I have the thrustmaster and I just downloaded Ace Combat 7 for PS4, but do you have to wait for the game to update before you use this controller? Cause my thrustmaster isn't working with the game. Any suggestions
How to set up your HOTAS 4 and T.Flight Ace Combat branded joystick (they’re exactly the same except for the AC logo): Press the red PS button on your HOTAS so it is your main controller instead of your DualShock. Options screen-> press X, use the Hat Switch (pointy cone shaped button on the the joystick) to highlight Flight Stick -> press X to confirm-> Camera (Normal or Inverted) -> use hat switch to switch to the camera you want (I use Normal) -> press X to confirm -> the picture on the screen is your HOTAS and what each button does -> press circle/O to back out of menu -> press circle/O again to get back to Main Menu -> now use the hat switch to select and highlight either Campaign, Multiplayer or VR -> press X to join whatever game mode you want and your HOTAS should be all set now as your primary way to control your aircraft. I’m trying to figure out how to make the TFRP rudder pedals and MFD panels operational on AC. The VR is pretty cool, and I like the game so far. Less sim and more arcade, but overall it’s decent.
It doesn't mate. That would mean a more expensive heavier unit i imagine. Works perfectly in Ace Combat. I have just uploaded my VR review actually. Maybe take a look at that and see it in action.
Dead on mate, they could have had a red missile button and trigger, maybe some silver bodywork in there too, instead of only just the branding logo

@@GametechUK there is a demo on the Japan psn store for ace combat . short but beautiful!
My full review is up and ready to release. Won't be long.
How much did you pay for your flight stick 5 months ago?
Thanks mate u deserve more love from this!
How can I do a barrel roll ,.....?
I find the throttle resistance far too weak.. ie, there's none. Is it my model is broken, or im just used to the x56... either way i don't like using the throttle, if you take your hand off it when its not locked in the centre it will easily change position..?
Yes, there isn't much resistance, and it is designed to try to revert to the centre position. I don't take my hand off it though to be honest.
It seems there is a dial for resistance under the stick base, no? If so, have you tried it? I added resistance to my PS4 thumbsticks by simply cutting a small hole in a sponge and slipping it over the thumbstick. Looks like shit lol bit it works! I suppose one could do the same here.
Ignore me..
Can i assume that the standard thrustmaster 4 works the same way
Exactly the same Hotas.
I have this stick, but I can't seem to get my ps4 with ac7 to recognize it. The option to alter stick options displays, but the stick does nothing. Yes, I have it plugged into my usb port on the ps4... What am I missing? Does it work in VR mode only or something?
occupantrrcom I’m having the same problem
Theres a switch on the back of the stand behind the stick. Is it on ps4?
Just press the red PS button. Then press X to sign in with the controller. The game will then recognise it.
LOL I was like what red button, until I plugged it back in and the black PS button (which I never noticed before) lite up red! THANKS!
This hotas is still being sold since 1998
That means it's tried and tested?
@@GametechUK i guess it's more of a "if it isn't broke, don't fix it"
I have the war thunder addition, it’s good for Eve valkyrie also. 👍🏻
Yes, another great title with the Hotas. Thanks for watching.
Great video Jason...!I have a logitech 3dpro but might need to get this to work with ps4.That looks like a good game I like dogfighting..
Then you will love it mate.
Can I use this simultaneously with PSVR on the original PS4 (not Pro)?
Yes you can.
And it's amazing
Will this work well for DCS world?
Yes it will, also check out my Warthog review as a more expensive alternative.
I agree with you 100%, when you play games like these with a HOTAS the immersion is incredible! I got this unit for Elite Dangerous based on your video and I really recommend it to anyone!
It works really well for controlling an aircraft thats for sure. Thanks for watching.
Can these be bolted onto a racing sim (nextlevel gttrack) and if so what size thred would I need to get?
No hard mount option
Is it hard mountable?
what button do you use to drop bombs
Does it have forcefeedback?
No.
Chris Jordan i have it and the hight G turns are made by turning with holding the Squared button :)
Took me some time to get use to the joystick and it's awesome 😁
Yeah once you get used to it there is no going back for games like this. Thanks for watching.
TELL YOU FAMOUS JOSTIC ThrustMaster T Flight Hotas X I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH CONNECTION TO IL 2
Does the package include any software or dlc related to Ace Combat? A la war thunder edition?
It does not, which is a shame.
Does it have a 3.5mm headphone/mic port?
No.
Does it feel cheap? I know it’s not gonna feel like a $200 stick. But, you know what I’m asking?
Hi mate. Like you say it's not a 200 stick so there is not a heavy, metal feel to the unit. But saying that, it doesn't feel like a cheap toy. It is perfectly priced and ive spent many hours using it, both in Elite and Ace Combat and 100% reccomend it.
Nice, thank you
Is this worth the money
in mission 2, is there an option to have air to ground missiles
Yes there is. Puts a circle on the ground, then bombs away.
I have the thrustmaster and I just downloaded Ace Combat 7 for PS4, but do you have to wait for the game to update before you use this controller? Cause my thrustmaster isn't working with the game. Any suggestions
I don't have this joystick but there's a submenu for it in the options in AC7. You can probably activate it there.
@@221b I'm in options right now. When I go to the flight stick it only tells me camera movement. T Flight Hotas 4 I have
How to set up your HOTAS 4 and T.Flight Ace Combat branded joystick (they’re exactly the same except for the AC logo):
Press the red PS button on your HOTAS so it is your main controller instead of your DualShock.
@@steveclark5206 Thanks dude. It works now.
Nick Piel You’re Welcome, glad I could help.
Does the game itself come with that edition of the stick?
No the Hotas is a seperate purchase.
Does this have haptic feedback? How does that feel in ace combat?
It doesn't mate. That would mean a more expensive heavier unit i imagine. Works perfectly in Ace Combat. I have just uploaded my VR review actually. Maybe take a look at that and see it in action.
GametechUK when looking up this stick online it states haptic feedback?? www.hori.co.uk/ac-flight-stick is it not this one??
@@bonedog343 Well that's a different joystick, this video is for the Thrustmaster, not the Hori. I'm not sure of the specs of the Hori.
GametechUK thanks for clearing that up new to these joystick and they all seem the same 🤨
Thats ok. The Hori seems all good, but a much higher price bracket.
So does ace combat come with the hotas?
No. Seperate purchase.
(Basic Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas 4 ) can it play on Ace Combat 7... PS4 game..!!
Yes it can.
So why and how did people get ahold of the game Before Official release ? !
I was sent a review copy.
