Two of our infant orangutans, Gunung and Noel, have become firm friends during their time at our emergency rescue centre in West Kalimantan, Borneo.

Orangutans have become very important to me. These creatures have stolen my heart. I'm not the kind of guy who has a bleeding heart for every cute fussy animal that's in trouble. All it took was looking into the eyes of an orphan baby and I was hooked. THANK YOU, for all your hard work and dedication in the fight to save the Orangs. I watch more of these videos than I care to admit 😂 they are so pure and precious
Look into their eyes. At first, infinite sadness, frightened, worried, fearful, longing, missing and then hope, comes with love and care - what are they thinking ? They must think that we are odd, hairless apes, some who only bring hurt but others who bring love and kindness. With the life that these dedicated carers are giving back to them, the peace which this brings after so much trauma gives them confidence to live and learn. There is a quiet fulfilment in the eyes of the mother Oran Utangs. They show their characters - all different - just like us. They laugh and they smile. They have moods and tantrums but find comfort in each other - just like us. They just want security, a peaceful stress-free life and a big kiss and a cuddle - just like us. Effectively they ARE us.

I could watch these little guys for hours. So little, so cute, so helpless. Baby Orangs are the only reason watch the Tube, they help me relax..

+popsishere1 Me too! And I often DO watch for an hour or two at a time. Unlike you, I feel extremely tense while watching these guys because 99.9% of the time, there's an AWFUL backstory that accompanies them and I have a very hard time wrapping my head around it.

International Animal Rescue rescues orangutans like Gunung and Noel and rehabilitate them with the hope that they will one day be able to be released back into the wild. We would never send them to a zoo.

I REALLY wish those babies had someone wearing some faux fur to cling onto... they wouldn't even be a burden to the caregiver... the person could carry on with what ever tasks they need to accomplish with the baby clung on to them!! That's what babies of that age need..... I saw several people around and any of them could be holding a baby!! A teddybear just doesn't cut it, they NEED that constant "parental" physical contact...
They get lots of love and cuddles at this age, but the staff must walk a fine line between what's good for them and what they want. If a human carried them around,they wouldn't learn independence

I noticed an animal recue symbol. Are these Orangs going to be released or sent to zoos ?
The goal is to be released! They never send to the zoos from what I have read
