    Started this series of 28 videos on yesterday. I'm loving everything about them. Being able to follow along with you is easy and encourages me to finish a piece on my own. Thank you for your time and for sharing us your knowledge of art.

    To me, painting is not about better or worse, contrast and compare. It's about feeling and emotion. To heck with what works for people. If you're happy will what you've done, then it's a success!

    I love this painting. I love all the nuisances and the visual interest it invokes. So much about it catches the eye. The blue added in the end was really cool. Funny how one touch can complete a very well done creation. Not an artist, but I'd definitely try to paint this. Even though it's not as easy as it looks. Thanks for the quick lesson, you're a great artist & teacher~ : - )

      It sure sounds like you've got an artist in there somewhere! You know exactly what to look for and what speaks to you. That's a great place to start! I hope you give it a whirl, it can be fun and easy to paint abstract art and I bet you'll be great at it.

    Thank you so much Adele for this informative video! I’m starting out as an artist with focus on abstract expressionism, and I gained a lot of knowledge and skills to improve on my paintings! I also became more confident in myself because I always see other abstract artists work being much better than mine. Thank you !💜

    Thank you for your generosity of sharing your talents and techniques with the world! I marvel at the vast number of collage papers you have on marker paper. Do you paint them all yourself? do you take a full day just to do millions of color variations??? the colors are so subtle, so i assume you do them yourelf rather than store bought?? thanks again!

    I really enjoyed this one. Maybe "thinking in 3's" is easier for viewers to get, but, I tell mine to think in odd numbers vs. even numbers... The same idea of balance, but more possibilities (but, perhaps, more complicated)? What do you think?

    You don’t seem to follow any rules per se with regard to composition when you do abstracts and I wonder if you could comment on that please. Your results are always pleasing to the eye and it surprises me because I’ve had times where my painting seems to lack something in the area of composition.

    • @AdeleSypesteynStudio
      @AdeleSypesteynStudio  5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      When thinking about composition as I create abstract paintings, I pay attention to several design concepts but I don’t follow anything too closely. What guides me most are the questions I consistently ask myself as I paint. And a few of those questions are”where is my eye going”, “is there a balance”, “is there enough variety in color, in shapes, in value”. I am constantly thinking of these and when you do this enough I think the process becomes automatic. I hope this helps. 🌸

    • @pjlewisful

      Thanks for asking that, Diane. I wondered the same, myself.

    I thought painting abstract was simple until I tried to do it 😂😂😂 I have made a start with different types of art but the abstract seems to help me let go completely and stop focusing so hard on perfection. Just seeing what happens.

    I learn so much more about abstract painting without fear and colouring .etc...thank you.
    Question about large canvas : normally i use acrylic paint from Amsterdam but what liquid paint do you use and what is the difference. Best regards from Holland : Elle de Jonge.

      First of all, thank you for watching my videos. I long to share my knowledge to help others. The paint I use is Golden. I love the quality and know how it will perform. I don’t think it matters what paint you use as long as you know how to manipulate it to do what you want it to. I hope this helps. 🌸

    Schon verrückt, oder? Früher war Kunst etwas ganz Besonderes, etwas Herausragendes. Hatte eine Bedeutung. Nur ganz herausragende Menschen mit einer enormer Begabung, langjähriger Ausbildung und einem Durchhaltevermögen konnten es zum "Künstler" schaffen. Heute braucht man nicht viel um "Kunst", oder wie man das nennen soll, zu machen. Die billigsten Farben und irgendeine billige Leinwand genügt schon. Auch kann jeder, jeder der sich mal kreativ ausdrücken will, "Kunst" machen. Das Besondere, das Herausragende ist heute nicht erwünscht, da das "andere" dann diskriminiert wäre. So sind Genies heute in der Kusnt nicht mehr gewollt und werden sogar absichtlich negiert um das kollektive Leitbild, jeder ist ein Künstler nicht zu zerstören. Diese Gleichmacherei gibt es zwar in der Musik auch, aber nur in der populären Musik. Nicht in der zeitgenösisichen Musik und auch nicht bei den Interpreten Ernster Musik. Da kann man sich nicht einfach eine billige Violine kaufen und sich hinstellen und eine Komposition spielen und sagen, das soll so klingen. Das geht nur in der zeitgenöisschen Kunst.

    Although abstract art can be what you want, there is more than just throwing paint around. What makes a grate piece stand out from a bad one are a few things. Rule of Thirds (every artist knows this) Composition can make or break a painting. Color balance and tone. And, painting, like photography is about light, or painting with light. I don't see much of any of these things going on with this painting. Sorry to say.

    • @Mr20001
      @Mr20001 ปีที่แล้ว

      Her art is what she wants it to be. There are techniques one can use but no actual rules. If you look for particular details, that’s fine but the absence of such doesn’t make it a poor painting. Surely you’re aware that not all abstracts are the same.

    You mentioned that the viewer’s eye moves from left to right. Well, that’s right for right handed people but for lefties we go from right to left. This is well documented in neuro-psychology.
