    I was just getting ready to pull the trigger on a Texas pride in February but this is why I watch customer reviews instead of company reviews, I’ve been back and fourth with pj and I think the pj is built heavier for the same price. Thanks for the video

    Check out our review on the PJ 7x14 dump trailer. By far not perfect but it's 2 years old with a fair amount of abuse and the bed has held up much better with the powdercoat.

    I bought the 26k tandem dump and much of same issues. I questioned the lack of solid welds in the bed as well as the rear gates

    About 2 months ago I just bought the gooseneck 16’ version with the upgraded floors and they welded in a section of beam in the front so I could mount a winch. I pull anything from skid steers to mini excavators to warehouse forklifts to ductwork to dirt. On the ramps, I get the shortness part being annoying. They could be a shade longer. Texas Pride also welded heavy diamond plate over the treads which sturdied then up to allow a 9500lb forklift to roll up. I noticed the gate latch as a potential problem because I can’t always babysit my employees who use it and we all know unsupervised with equipment works out. The first day I greased all the fittings which were all bone dry and 2 of the fittings sheared off with minimal pressure. It’s like they threaded the holes with the actual fitting.
    What pressure do you keep your tires? About how much dirt can you put in it before it starts struggling? I have the dual ram. It works better for me because I’m loading heavy equipment and don’t want it to tweak too much when I have to tilt it. As far as the paint, it’s a dump trailer.. you go throwing rocks in it and nothing will good up.

    • @lex5.060
      @lex5.060  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great points! I wish I had added some of those options but I was in a rush. That’s my excuse anyway! I keep the tires at 70psi because for whatever reason 80 makes me nervous. Haha. I don’t know how much dirt I had in there when it struggled as per weight but I can tell you it was a lot more than the 10,000 rating. It felt like 15,000 pulling it or more if I had to guess. It was about half the bed filled. Not soaking wet but also not bone dry stuff.

    Like you said the trailer has done everything that I've asked but My floor seems were intermittent that be a 3 or 4" weld and then a 3 of 4" space than a 3 or 4" well it's so long and so on Mine only has 1 jack yours is got 2My ramps are in back underneath the doors which is great I have the single telescopic ram in front and I really love it It seems to go quite a bit higher than the trailers with Dual rams, There there was a lot of little things nothing major but a lot of little things Have ° fittings didn't work they were coded in pain when I'm fell out when I went to use it They forgot the onboard battery charger When you watch there videos you're not always getting what they show on the video when you get your trailer so make sure when you you get your trailer or you watch the video that they're the same cause they're not mine didn't come with things that I saw an other trailers at look stock but overall the trailers done what I've asked it to do, thanks

    You will never keep paint or powder coat on the inside of a dump trailer period. Should have gotten the upgraded 3/16 floor and sides would help with the dent's hauling large rocks, and the telescopic cylinder I believe has a steeper dump angle. I've been researching dump trailers for a while now and they all seem to have a few kinks here and there. I might have one custom built like I want it. I don't really like the seems in the floor but its cheaper to do it that way I'm sure as opposed to special order custom size sheets of metal for every size trailer they build.

      All good to know! This was the last gooseneck dump trailer in a 400 mile radius of me during the summer so I went with what I could find. Maybe I’ll have my next one custom built and those would be all good things to have done!

    Personally I'd rather have a painted trailer. I've seen powder coating just flake off if the tiniest amount of rust was present when it was applied and then it continues to spread. It's common for these trailer manufacturers to not get the trailer clean enough before applying powder coating unfortunately. I think paint is going to be easier to touch up and keep looking nice.
    Thanks for pointing out the latch mechanism. That is a pretty bad design flaw.

    Hey Lex, I was recently searching for dump trailers and happened upon your video. It is obvious by the name of your channel and the ring you were wearing that you are in law enforcement I found your video helpful, considering Texas pride trailers were at the top of my list. Now that I have watched your video, I may reconsider my choice.
    I watched some of your other videos and really enjoyed them. I am a retired police officer who dealt with his demons in all the wrong ways, and recently required a liver transplant. As therapy I started my own channel documenting my life post transplant. I hope you’ll check it out at New liver New life.

    Great review. What year is this trailer? Why would they put the ramps there...🤔 You should have some hooks welded to the sides and put them there. Those welds in the bed suck. I have a Big Tex 14LX. No issues. Love it. The dump angle is insane. I've never had anything get stuck.

    • @lex5.060
      @lex5.060  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 10 ply tires seem to do fine for everything I’ve hauled but I’ve only been using it 5 months now. As for the floors I would definitely upgrade them for longevity. Check the weight addition though because it will reduce your total capacity.

    I had a TP 8x20 24k lbs dump trailer, it was a beast. The ramps were short (and heavy). Is your truck lifted? My 3500 Ram 4x4 didn't have the gooseneck all the way up. They are high in the ass, too. Try loading a skidsteer when the deck is 3' off the ground. It worked though. Great trailers for the money. I'm fixing to buy a new 7x16 16k gooseneck TP.

    Do you maybe have the tarp rolled up backwards? These issues all seem pretty petty to me. Scratches inside the bed? Really? It's a dump trailer. I'm pretty sure there are other options for storing the ramps, if nothing else leave them in the trailer with the skid steer.

    • @lex5.060
      @lex5.060  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope tarp is on correctly and yes some are petty but I also stated the trailer hasn’t let me down. There is nowhere else to store the ramps and per DOT they must be secured in my state so you can’t just throw them in there or you’d have to ratchet them down each time which would be a pain.

      No problem at all! For the money I love the Texas Pride. If money wasn’t an option however I’d go with a trailer that had a solid floor and was Powdercoated instead of painted. Probably a different lift system as well because I hear the two cylinder lifts can run into issues. I think Gatormade makes a scissor lift trailer that’s powdercoated and I know Ironbull does as well. We don’t have any Diamond C dealers near us so I never saw one in person. Good luck with your purchase and I hope it works well for you!
