Platform is Basically a CB lancer (CC for Australia, 4G Mirage states side). So EVERYTHING pretty much from a 1992-1995 Lancer works, except for the body panels (longer trunk, and different front). In Trinidad and Tobago, we mainly would cut the trunk and also swap the front to the lancers, due to the lack of parts availability for proton itself. Most would get an EVO floor and just weld it in for AWD, then go have fun.
There is a popular local Malaysian dish called 'rojak', which is a sweet and savory fruit and vegetable snack, which originated from readily available ingredients across different culture and ethnicity groups.. The name rojak means mixture, the car modification culture in Malaysia have adopted the similar principle - making the best out of what we have access to, and it tastes bloody good.
Getting JDM halfcuts in Malaysia is as easy as you going to your backwood wreckers in the US :P. JDM engine swaps in Malaysia is as common as your LS swaps in the US.
The only similarity between a proton wira and mitsu evo is the look. That's it. The chassis of a Proton wira 1.5l is the same design but not as tough as a mitsu evo3 although it can be fully converted to look like an evo3. There's a much better and stronger chassis Proton Wira which is a limited edition Proton Wira 1.8 which has better chassis than a normal Wira.
I've seen some of these "fake" Evos for sale in the US....buyers be careful And it may have the motor and drivetrain, but it doesn't have the extra spot welds, chassis stiffness, etc.
Eh, if it was AWD.... It's a 4G63 swap. I've seen it stuffed into a tiny Hyundai and had to fix the electrical on it at 2am after it started cutting out on acceleration after destroying everything on Gratiot Ave back in the early 2000's There's a video of it racing a prototype SRT ram somewhere on the Internet. You can actually hear it cutting out on the video lol. Had a 2x6 for a dashboard. Front 5x15 from the donor car and 4x14 stock rear wheels lol Total pos sleeper.
@@LuckyFruitRacingthe rear fascia does have to be chopped off and rewelded on, as for the AWD running gear it is possible and has been done many times before, but it is illegal under the law
@@marceline4935 I understand that. In the video it sounded like the owner was describing cutting the underneath structure/subframe area of the car. I think Larry was under the same impression.
after this video come out from Larry channel, all PROTON WIRA, PUTRA resale price rocket fly
thanks larry for review Msia classic
As if putra doesn't get any expensive by now🗿
its called WIRABOH
"We have Subaru 22B at home"
"We have DSM at home."
“We have Mirage at home”

The putra is basically a Mirage/Colt from the early 90s
Mirage Asti to be exact
Finally , the wiralution/putralution expose to the world😂😂😂 , damn miss those old days😅
That look so good. It also very getting popular in Australia people convert proton jumbuck ute in EV0 3 awd ute.

The Putra is now rare and also pricey as well. The platform of it was introduce from 1999 to 2001.
Neatest part of the conversion is the rear tail lights from the lancer sedan onto a coupe! 👍🏻
Car cultures around the world are just crazy, awesome video :)
Ayyyyy thanks larry! Youre the best 🥳
From what I remember Mitsubishi sold Proton all of its tooling for the Mirage/Colt/Lancer platform.
man! i've always wanted to drive one of these 2 door evos! it's so awesome! congrats Larry!
I always loved the putra.. but seeing this model, evo spec, especially in silver, makes me fall in love with more so much more
Getting JDM halfcuts in Malaysia is as easy as you going to your backwood wreckers in the US :P. JDM engine swaps in Malaysia is as common as your LS swaps in the US.
Interior the seats are similar to Evo One but they are Proton Putra factory Recaro seat known as Enjoy! Evo 2 n 3 are different look and shape!
Malaysia boleh! Proton ftw!
I visited Malaysia a few times and I fell in love with Protons
I like how Larry goes from, "But why though?" to "This is cool!"
Putra pon dah rare, sumbat pulak bontot evo 3
Tapi cun aaa
Dia kena try proton arena evo pulak
Thank you for reviewing our favourite and my personal car❤️❤️
2:50 Like the car but love homeboy's shirt (I'm going through an oversized t-shirt phase.. should've just kept my old tees)
He was cool as heck!!
Welcome To Malaysia Larry The Legend 🫡
Such a sick ride. Love it.

Oh they're gonna raise the pitchforks after you've pointed out the lack of stitch and seam welds on the Proton chassis. Brace youself.
Now that’s fucking cool!
This is the Evo Mitsu never bothered to make
Great to see gen z are into JDM cars
Gila gila lah Mike speaking 😂😂
Lots of nice cars in Malaysia
Those rear set lamp and reflector is rare by now... last time i survey it 1.5k for the reflector😢
Sick. They would like my Mirage cup car.
Proton Putra is basically a Mitsubishi MR
Mirage Asti to be specific
A lot of power in a fwd is always fun
Hee Wei Seng needs to have a look at this
Now I'm imagining an Evo III 2-door coupe...👀
yup we had it in malaysia. got 2-3 people did it with kansai service kit
Love it keep it up man
This is insane. love it
DAMN IS THAT MIKE???? OMG
The TOYOTA CALDINA IN BACK OF THE VIDEO !!!
How are they using the evo awd transmission in fwd form?
lock the transfer case
2 door Evo’s have been a thing since 1990-1999, it’s called the Eclipse GSX… 4G63 turbo engine and early evo AWD drivetrain basically.
And Plymouth laser
Larry find Nim199 you can drive evo UTE 😅
Wen u coming trinidadandTobago
Ive always wanted to.convert a Mirage into an evo.
It’s a Mirage Asti.
For the rear you just use a regular sedan not need for a “evo 123”
Proton chasis is base on Mitsubishi
I've seen some of these "fake" Evos for sale in the US....buyers be careful

Looks like a Mitsubishi Mirage

malaysian mitsubishi
rally
This was highly confusing. He was talking about cutting and welding the rear end but its not AWD so doesnt have any reason to have done so.
The original rear looks much different than the evo rear end.
@@linkinstreet I'm aware of that, he made it sound like he was talking structurally- as if to accommodate Evo running gear.
@@LuckyFruitRacingthe rear fascia does have to be chopped off and rewelded on, as for the AWD running gear it is possible and has been done many times before, but it is illegal under the law
Mines is awd and I didn’t used the evo floor

Berterabur grammar abang ni!
Ok lah tuh, walaupun grammar berterabur tapi dia cakap lancar
asalkan orang faham pun dah cukup. tak payah nak perfect sangat. kalau perfect tu bonus. bahasa inggeris bukan bahasa utama di Malaysia.
aku paham je, english not our mother language dumbass
no one would care dude grammar police ..
Can’t call a car an evo if it’s not lol I’m sorry
