I bought the M17 a couple weeks ago and I couldn’t be happier. Great performance and amazing reliability. I’m planning on buying a smaller slide and barrel so I can customize it for range and conceal carry.
I’ve never shot anything more fitting to my shooting than the M17. Vise versa, I’ve never shot anything more grotesque to my shooting than a Glock. Besides maybe a Kimber.
The 19-X is the only Glock i will own, metal sights, great trigger, adaptable grip three mags and shoots very accurate, though pricey in comparison the Sig M17 is preferable in handling and just feels better in the hand. owning both may be redundant but fun.
almost bought a M17 at youngest daughters work, noticed the rear sights are blacked out, but right next to the M17 they had an M18, so, went with the M18.
The m17 is the better gun, the p320 series is amazing i have 4 i freaking love them. I like the 19x, but i dont like glocks. But the 19x is a nice pistol.

I use my m17 on competition, my little sister uses the xfive. Honestly I say the m17, With a safety. I like the safety. Good shelf for your thumb, get a oversized/xfive slide ctach lever. N it look nearly identical to the armys pistol. I put a gray guns guide rod n 14 pound spring in my m17. Trigger is perfect. Go with the m17!👍💪💪
The x5 legion is heavy, i dont very much care for that. The black xfive had extra weight in the grip, it is so balanced, i don't like the trigger that came in my xfive. However I won a xcarry at a raffle it was th3 brand new upgraded xcarry. That trigger is the best stock I've ever felt. Other then preupgradeed p320s those were great. But after 2or3 k threw it the triggers only get better. I would say again the p320m17 with the safety. They like 600? 2x21s n 1 17mags now vs legion legions 3 17s. The legion is ready oitta the box. Those are great 5" barrel maybe 5.2", ported slide, optics plates etc. my cop buddy has one for competition, pin point accuracy at 400$ i think. Straight up shot for shot i can't beat his canik. They can't even get sizes right. Too big, too small, too much handle. Aluminum framed guns? Fantastic, they're 30 years late on the polymer guns and it shows. The Army took them for the price. Nobody else remembers when they were firing when dropped?
The glock that was submitted had that manual safety. My only complaint is that the 19x finish isn't as robust as I had hoped. Wore it out into the woods one day while cutting shooting lanes and scratched it down the right hand side from either a branch or a ladder.
The 19X trials gun had an ambi safety and optics cut, those were requirements for the trails, if it didn’t have it, it would have been sent back and not even been in the trials. And you don’t need 19X specific mags, you just can’t use the gen 5 base pad. The 19X isn’t using special mags, just colored gen 1-4 mags
Glock only made the Gen 5 because the 80% builds were cutting into their profits. I won't buy a Gen 5 on that point alone. I don't want the 5 to become any standard.

@@bryanengland2466 The perfect design for me would be a true picatinny rail, no finger grooves, the G21 ambi safety, and the gen 4 texturing. I can do exactly what I want with 3D printing, but a 3D printed frame is not as durable as the glass nylon frame (although pretty close). Even the polymer 80 frame shows wear after high round counts.
I'm adding this comment before I watch the video. I was issued a Glock 19 when I was deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. It worked every time I pulled the trigger and when it came to putting rounds on target accurately weather it was paper or a bad guy I hit where I aimed. The Glock is battle tested and you'll never change my mind. But I still like to see the comparison. I now have a 19x and would much rather have it over the Sig any day. Oh and my Glock never broke.
Thinking as a (former) Soldier: Of the Glock, the sights would've been my biggest complaint. But, they addressed that with the night sights. Also, in spite of my personal, *slight* aversion to the design (ergos and stock sights), Glock *IS* an excellent, robust design with a great track record. Even so, the Sig is better over all, imo-- sights, ergos, modularity, etc. (Although, I do prefer the shorter Sig the Marines went with for ease of use and weight). Also, you have to bear in mind-- a good portion of military people, upon joining, have had little to no firearms experience. And that's where the Sig's controls shine-- ambi safety and hammer, especially. Because, for an experienced shooter, those things might be minor annoyances, but really aren't deal breakers where actual use of the pistol is concerned. Whereas, for a "new" shooter, they really are better to learn on (more forgiving of mistakes) than a striker pistol is... One thing that worries me, though, is that I sincerely hope Sig's reputation doesn't take a hit, the way Beretta's did, because of the anemic qualities of the 9mm ball cartridge... But, that's probably never gonna change until we tell NATO to suck it... Fwiw

Needing to use 19x mags in Glock seems a big negative, though maybe not for the Army. Having the ability to swap grips and slides with the Sig modularity IS fantastic. Didn't know how much I'd like that, but putting a Sig P365XL frame on my P365 was a great upgrade for my uses.
When I heard about this military trial I searched online for the guns they were testing. That was the nearly the same time I decided to buy my first gun and after careful review I bought the Smith and Wesson M&P M2.0 5" and put just shy of four thousand rounds through it without a single malfunction. I still use and carry it everyday.
@@voiceofreason6336 once I sold that Smith & Wesson to my brother the round count was just about 9,000 rounds with no malfunctions and no failures. I shot every kind of ammo including plus p plus and underpowered shotshells without any issues. 🥰
I'd like to see a comparison between the other pistols involved in the Competition. I'm personally a fan of the Beretta APX, Especially considering how low it's price is right now. With the APX you get the form and function of the Glock 19x, but the modularity of the SigM17, with the unique design with the slide serrations (I personally like them)

The Military has reported multiple miss firing by the M17 & P320, even when holstered. I would not trust my life to this gun. The problem was supposed to be fixed and the new M17 has the same issues... Will you now carry it ?
Looks like the military might have some issues with their new Sig's. Just read up on some of the problems with the m17 which include: accidental discharge, failure to feed, failure to eject, and consistent stoppages when firing FMJ rounds. That's a lot of problems for one gun to have. Guess that's why i carry a Glock 19. Before all the Glock haters start trashing me about this comment, I just want to put out there that i have nothing against this specific gun. I actually thought it was pretty cool and the price wasn't crazy high like a lot of the Sig's i see usually. But the accidental discharge that some of the Sig's have and the overall high price of some of their guns has been the main reason why i avoid Sig's most of the time.
Almost all of the issues have been resolved, new guns always have issues and they are slowly let out. The modern m17 is just as reliable as any other gun including glocks.

I bought both. After an even number of rounds up to roughly 1000 through each, I started to bring the Glock to the range and leave the M17 at home. Im not sure why. I like the ergonomic of the Sig more, but I just slowly began gravitating toward the Glock. Everybody should try them both and put a few hundred rounds through each. I know that's usually not feasible, but you just never know what works for you until you know the weapons.

The reason he fired quicker with the Glock , is the fact that his palm rests higher and behind the firing chamber,compared to the much lower grip the Sig allows. That design on Glock,absorbs recoil much better,without the nose of the gun raise a lot,after each round.If you notice carefully,He loses his target more with the Sig,while the Glock stays better on target with each shot.
The government choosing the Sig had little to do with the functionality, or the platform......it mostly had to do with the fact that Glock was more expensive whenever it came to spare magazines and spare parts..... The government usually will settle for the lowest bidder on just about everything.
Good head to head review. The fact that the 19X won't take regular glock 17 mags would be a deal breaker for me. One of the big selling points to me with Glock is magazine interchangeability. I've never been a Sig fan, but between the two, I believe I'd go for the M17 if I were considering a handgun purchase.

i bought a glock 26 gen 3 because i was impatient and it was all that my gun store had for sub compacts, i would have bought the glock 45 if i could have found one, personally i didnt want to wait or mess with ordering one to the FFL.
Yeah I was thinking about getting one to for my kit. I've played with the 19z and really like it. I'm already heavily invested in g19 as far as expensive holsters for CCW and battle belt so might as well be able to use the same gear and save myself hundreds of dollars in just stuck with a tlr7 if like to up it to a tlr1 on the belt but I guess it will be sufficient
The Chassis system in the Sig, is great for changing frames, "BUT" forget about an easy complete disassembly of the internal Chassis parts. Where as the Glock cannot change frame sizes but the SIMPLICITY is in its engineered design for complete disassembly of parts!
Also if u didn't know. You can buy a 1911 rod and spring to fine tune the recoil on the P320 style of pistols. That is for the 4.7 in barrel not sure on the 3.9. I do own both lenths. Compact and full size with Wilson Combat grips in tan for both. These grips rock.
This is how a comparison should go between two guns. Just watched another one between these same two guns and it was like he was late for something. Whole thing was rushed and no clue to what the military was comparing during the handgun replacement trials so a lot of "I guess" or "must've been" type wording. Your comparison is much better, actual military understanding included too. The firing as well since the other comparison video was just one quick unboxing basically. Lol, the Glock trials pistol had a safety too. And Glock has the grip inserts which was sufficient for the Military's "modularity requirement". Sig undercut Glock's bid by $100 million, that's why they won. The Military trials weren't even finished, who know which pistol is better, they were never tested.

We just got issued the new M17 and I carried it for about 3 months for a shot TDY and got to shot it a decent amount. I will say switching from the ancient M9 is a BLESSING however being a long time Glock user and shooter for personal and work use I still prefer the Glock 19. The extra say inch and 1/4 on the sig paired with the boomerang 26 round long extender just makes it so much larger and cumbersome then G19 with flush mag. Now granted I did carry the SIG with the flush mag and had both larger cap mags on my kit but the SIG I just feel is noticeably heavier than a G19. G19 - 23.65 Sig M17 - 26oz I do like the grip and grip angle of the SIG and I think it's a comfortable shooter but the G19 wins for smaller form factor, and really mainly for me was a walk around side arm to then get to rifle. And then there is the case for the manual safety. YES YES big army wants a pistol with as many safeties as possible so a brand new window licker can't accidentally shoot his leg or buddy but there ergonomics of the safety paired with the larger grip just doesn't do it for me. You almost for me anyways especially wearing gloves, have to break your grip slightly to go from safe to fire and then re-grip to engage at longer distances. G19 just grip and rip. The other thing I found myself doing is accidentally flipping the safety while trying to release the slide lock after a reload. It just gets in the way.

This is false. The rear sights have the glowing dots. I have 2 M17s and 2 M18s. They are literally identical except for length.

The Sig P320 is by far my favorite handgun, but the short slide/long grip combo of the g19x gets my respect.
I'm 100% with ya. I gave my g19 to my wife because I just enjoy my 320 that much better. All the local law enforcement uses them as well.

Gen 4 and older Glock 17 mags will work in the 19x. The gen 5 G17 mags are the only mags that have the baseplates that extend forward.

Thinking as a (former) Soldier:
Of the Glock, the sights would've been my biggest complaint. But, they addressed that with the night sights. Also, in spite of my personal, *slight* aversion to the design (ergos and stock sights), Glock *IS* an excellent, robust design with a great track record.
Even so, the Sig is better over all, imo-- sights, ergos, modularity, etc. (Although, I do prefer the shorter Sig the Marines went with for ease of use and weight).
Also, you have to bear in mind-- a good portion of military people, upon joining, have had little to no firearms experience.
And that's where the Sig's controls shine-- ambi safety and hammer, especially. Because, for an experienced shooter, those things might be minor annoyances, but really aren't deal breakers where actual use of the pistol is concerned.
Whereas, for a "new" shooter, they really are better to learn on (more forgiving of mistakes) than a striker pistol is...
One thing that worries me, though, is that I sincerely hope Sig's reputation doesn't take a hit, the way Beretta's did, because of the anemic qualities of the 9mm ball cartridge... But, that's probably never gonna change until we tell NATO to suck it... Fwiw

Yep that was an oversight on my part. If I’m not mistaken the trail pistol was cut for a slide riding optic also
@@Iraqveteran8888 Glock's interchangeable back straps were enough to meet the modularity requirement. However the pistols barely reached testing because Sig undercut Glocks bid by over $100 million. That's why Glock filed a lawsuit, the pistols never completed the trials.

Having the ability to swap grips and slides with the Sig modularity IS fantastic. Didn't know how much I'd like that, but putting a Sig P365XL frame on my P365 was a great upgrade for my uses.

When I heard about this military trial I searched online for the guns they were testing. That was the nearly the same time I decided to buy my first gun and after careful review I bought the Smith and Wesson M&P M2.0 5" and put just shy of four thousand rounds through it without a single malfunction. I still use and carry it everyday.

I'd like to see a comparison between the other pistols involved in the Competition. I'm personally a fan of the Beretta APX, Especially considering how low it's price is right now. With the APX you get the form and function of the Glock 19x, but the modularity of the SigM17, with the unique design with the slide serrations (I personally like them)

The glock 19MHS did have ambi safeties. The 19X is basically a 19MHS without the safeties.

My Glock 17 Gen 3 mags work just fine in my 19x. As well as my Pmags.

The Military has reported multiple miss firing by the M17 & P320, even when holstered. I would not trust my life to this gun. The problem was supposed to be fixed and the new M17 has the same issues... Will you now carry it ?
Looks like the military might have some issues with their new Sig's. Just read up on some of the problems with the m17 which include: accidental discharge, failure to feed, failure to eject, and consistent stoppages when firing FMJ rounds. That's a lot of problems for one gun to have. Guess that's why i carry a Glock 19. Before all the Glock haters start trashing me about this comment, I just want to put out there that i have nothing against this specific gun. I actually thought it was pretty cool and the price wasn't crazy high like a lot of the Sig's i see usually. But the accidental discharge that some of the Sig's have and the overall high price of some of their guns has been the main reason why i avoid Sig's most of the time.
Almost all of the issues have been resolved, new guns always have issues and they are slowly let out. The modern m17 is just as reliable as any other gun including glocks.

I bought both. After an even number of rounds up to roughly 1000 through each, I started to bring the Glock to the range and leave the M17 at home. Im not sure why.
I like the ergonomic of the Sig more, but I just slowly began gravitating toward the Glock. Everybody should try them both and put a few hundred rounds through each. I know that's usually not feasible, but you just never know what works for you until you know the weapons.
Would love to see you compare the G19x and the P320 M18, I think it would be more of a even comparison, the two pistols are more alike

The reason he fired quicker with the Glock , is the fact that his palm rests higher and behind the firing chamber,compared to the much lower grip the Sig allows. That design on Glock,absorbs recoil much better,without the nose of the gun raise a lot,after each round.If you notice carefully,He loses his target more with the Sig,while the Glock stays better on target with each shot.

You're correct. The gen5 mags won't work on 19x, but gen1,2,3,4 glock mags will work.

The government choosing the Sig had little to do with the functionality, or the platform......it mostly had to do with the fact that Glock was more expensive whenever it came to spare magazines and spare parts.....

Good head to head review. The fact that the 19X won't take regular glock 17 mags would be a deal breaker for me. One of the big selling points to me with Glock is magazine interchangeability. I've never been a Sig fan, but between the two, I believe I'd go for the M17 if I were considering a handgun purchase.

i bought a glock 26 gen 3 because i was impatient and it was all that my gun store had for sub compacts, i would have bought the glock 45 if i could have found one, personally i didnt want to wait or mess with ordering one to the FFL.

Yeah I was thinking about getting one to for my kit. I've played with the 19z and really like it. I'm already heavily invested in g19 as far as expensive holsters for CCW and battle belt so might as well be able to use the same gear and save myself hundreds of dollars in just stuck with a tlr7 if like to up it to a tlr1 on the belt but I guess it will be sufficient
The Chassis system in the Sig, is great for changing frames, "BUT" forget about an easy complete disassembly of the internal Chassis parts. Where as the Glock cannot change frame sizes but the SIMPLICITY is in its engineered design for complete disassembly of parts!
Also if u didn't know. You can buy a 1911 rod and spring to fine tune the recoil on the P320 style of pistols. That is for the 4.7 in barrel not sure on the 3.9. I do own both lenths. Compact and full size with Wilson Combat grips in tan for both. These grips rock.

This is how a comparison should go between two guns. Just watched another one between these same two guns and it was like he was late for something. Whole thing was rushed and no clue to what the military was comparing during the handgun replacement trials so a lot of "I guess" or "must've been" type wording.
Your comparison is much better, actual military understanding included too. The firing as well since the other comparison video was just one quick unboxing basically. FYSA: I was an Armorer from '02 to '05 in Germany with Big Red One. We deployed to Tikrit, Iraq my last year before ETS'ing. Lol, the Glock trials pistol had a safety too. And Glock has the grip inserts which was sufficient for the Military's "modularity requirement". they both met the requirements. what the army considered as modular was the interchangeable back-strap system. The army just choose the cheaper deal.

We just got issued the new M17 and I carried it for about 3 months for a shot TDY and got to shot it a decent amount. I will say switching from the ancient M9 is a BLESSING however being a long time Glock user and shooter for personal and work use I still prefer the Glock 19. The extra say inch and 1/4 on the sig paired with the boomerang 26 round long extender just makes it so much larger and cumbersome then G19 with flush mag. Now granted I did carry the SIG with the flush mag and had both larger cap mags on my kit but the SIG I just feel is noticeably heavier than a G19.

I do like the grip and grip angle of the SIG and I think it's a comfortable shooter but the G19 wins for smaller form factor, and really mainly for me was a walk around side arm to then get to rifle. And then there is the case for the manual safety. YES YES big army wants a pistol with as many safeties as possible so a brand new window licker can't accidentally shoot his leg or buddy but there ergonomics of the safety paired with the larger grip just doesn't do it for me. You almost for me anyways especially wearing gloves, have to break your grip slightly to go from safe to fire and then re-grip to engage at longer distances. G19 just grip and rip. The other thing I found myself doing is accidentally flipping the safety while trying to release the slide lock after a reload. It just gets in the way.
