    I can see the element red hot and the fan is working when switched on but food is burning quickly.Is it the thermostat? The red temperature light doesn’t go out on the front of the cooker.Any ideas?

    My belling oven's grill is faulty.
    It will glow red once turned on but after a while it just shuts off and goes back cool. Even with the temp still up.
    Do I replace the thermostat and capillary rod.
    The small thermostat part on the back.
    Or something else.
    Thanks.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi RSjampot, is the thermostat light cycling on & off? if not it suggests the thermostat is not working but if ok test the element with a multimeter.

    • @RSjampot
      @RSjampot 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eSpares yes..the light comes on and turns off with an audible click.
      The oven, that I'm guessing runs on the same thermostat does not switch off like the element does.
      My element has "sagged" towards the unsupported part which leads me to suggest it may need replacing.
      I will remove it and inspect it carefully for cracks or breaks.(the oven element had gone a year or so ago so I know what on looking out for)
      How would I test with a multimeter to check everything is in working order on the element?
      Thanks. J

    Hi we suspect our fault with our select 600 by Diplomat is the cooling fan.The oven heats up and then goes dead.Light goes off.Nothing.After a short time the oven will work again but will continue to die after a short while.What do you think Please?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kev, this does sound like the overheat safety cut out is operating. This can be caused by a stuck main thermostat causing excessive oven temperature, poor airflow around the cabinet or more likely due to the cooling fan not running.

    My logik electric fan oven is tripping the breaker after it has been on for 30 seconds. This has occurred since having the element replaced, which is working until it trips. The rest of the cover works fine. Any ideas ? Thanks

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chris, you would need to trace the circuit to find out what was going down to earth causing the oven to trip, we have had new elements that are damp which can cause it to trip so dont rule that out. does everything work ok until you turn the temperature on?

    • @eSpares

      Hi Arnie, yes it is likely to be the element, check for any signs of damage that would indicate it has gone.

    hoover error code 02. nobody brings up error codes, the manuals are useless, they cant even explain buttons to set clock. press centre buttom then release all buttons on a touch button oven. my oven stopped heating up with error code 02. i tried steam cleaning and the element did heat up to create steam. if you call hoover, they want to send the engineer out and i rather buy a new oven, NOT hoover again. any thoughts?

      Check the Bake element has not failed. Then check the selector switch carefully as you may find some switch contacts that have welded stuck.

      Examine it closely looking for cracks or blisters as it is likely the element has failed. You can check with a meter if there is a resistance through both parts of the element and if required replacement will be similar to this video:

    Please can you help me with some advice? I have a "Caple C2216" single electric fan oven. The oven was working fine one day but the next it appears to have no power? The clock is working: set correctly and not not in timer mode. When I turn the "Control" knob nothing works, not even the internal light or fan? I've checked all plug fuses and there is power to the oven. So my question is: What has happened since last using the oven that's now preventing it from working? Hope you can help? Thanks!

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michael, we would suggest using a multimeter to trace the circuit from the terminal block to the switch if it is a connection issue you need to establish what components are OK first and if you are getting power to the controls.

      Hi J Lester, there are a few possible reasons and you will need a multimeter to test them, start by checking the elements as if they have shorted out. Test the thermostats and it,s possible it could be a relay or the control board, good luck.

    I have an Estate Convection oven - ceramic top - that began pooping out yesterday. The burners work fine but the oven was dead and the digital display was blinking in an out in an erratic manor, like there was a bad electrical connection. Every so often it would begin beeping and flashing a code F1E1 which I understand means to replace the control board. I pulled the stove out, got my tools to pull the cover where the power pigtail connects so I could verify the correct voltage was making it to the stove. Before pulling the access panel I figured I should check the breaker, which was not tripped. I flogged the breaker on and off 4 or 5 times and went to the stove and pushed a couple of buttons and all is working now. Over sets and begins heating now, convection fan works etc. I will post again if it begins messing up again.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jeff, before you think the problem is cured check the cable connections both and the wall connection and as it is connected to your appliance, It is not to unusual for these to start burning and making a poor connection if they were not fully tightened on installation. If you catch the problem now you may just need to re tighten the connectors, leave it a bit and the burning may damage them and require replacement.

      There is a thermal cut out at the back like shown at 2:25

      If this has tripped or the fuse to the appliance it will cause this problem.

    Hi Josh. This is really helpful and I love that you reply to so many comments! My problem is that the bulbs inside the oven don't work, and neither does the 'heating up' light. Is there a fuse on the oven that might have shorted? I'm going to look at the back of the oven as you suggest, but I think anything after that is too dangerous for me to attempt. Additionally, the fan and lights on the extractor fan don't work... Thanks!

    Hi, I have an AEG KM4400001M oven. When I'm done cooking the oven starts to cool down. This works for some time but then after it's almost completely cooled it start to mess with the system. It will stop the cooling down proces and start cooling down proces really quick which result in the oven turning on and off. If I unplug the oven and plug it in the next time I need it then it will work perfectly until it starts to cool down again. I'm not sure what the problem can be. I was thinking about the thermostat, but during the heat in the oven is consistent. I also do not think the cooling fan could be the problem because it cools down the oven for a couple minutes before the problem occurs. Can you help me with this problem, thanks. Ruud

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ruud, check to make sure the cooling fan is coming on and working correctly if it's not cooling the control panel it could affect the PCB and cause issues, also make sure all the connections are not loose on the PCB.

    Hi, I am just about to order part to replace as I think my thermostat is the issue. Wonder if you could confirm /advise please
    2 days ago over only worked below 150degrees, grill and hob fine. Yesterday only grill and hob work, Today only the hobs work. I assume it is a faulty thermostat and not clock/an element for example but is there any way to be sure? Thank You

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      At 4:34 we talk about the oven temperature indicator. This should light when the elements are being heated and if the thermostat was faulty the light would not come on. However if the grill is not controlled by this (some models) it suggests a common problem between grill and oven so check the terminal block as the connections may be loose and burning. For information on the terminal block see our video:

      Hi sgtsixpack, It is most likely to be an element fault but we could not say conclusively.

    hi I have a zanussi Zce7551x that I'm having problems with. the bottom fan assistant oven has started cutting out after 10 mins of being on. but only the fan and element. the digital display and oven indicator light stays on. I've also noticed the oven indicator light does not go off now no matter what temperature the oven gets to unless u turn the nob to its off position. and im almost certain its heating up to more than 50°c (altho not heating like it should) in the 10 mins whilst on yet theres no click and absence of light like usual if u turn the nob down to 50. we've looked at the element and we can't see any obvious damage and we've checked the fan but it's not stiff to turn or too greasy and the nut is on fine. any ideas on what could be wrong.
    just before the fan and element stop I hear a very small click sound altho im not sure where from. any ideas?

    • @eSpares

I used my oven yesterday and it was fine, went to use it last night and it ignites, blue flame is all where it should be, but just does not rise as should, it stays at same level. Everything else on cooker works perfectly. I've cleaned along part. Can you please advice, thanks

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sylvia, There is a safety device called a thermocouple that sits in the 'pilot flame' to prevent the gas escaping if the flame goes out. These thermocouples do fail so it may need replacing.

      Hi Muhammad Kashif. The fault could be related to a number of different causes, including an unset timer, thermostat, thermal cut out, terminal block or the heating element.

    I have a Hotpoint BD62 and the top oven doesn't reach temperature. The light comes on and goes out as expected but the temperature is consistently too low. Is this likely to be a thermostat that needs replacing or some other part? Thanks.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the light is going out then the thermostat believes it has reached the correct temperature. If the heat is escaping around the door due to a faulty seal or hinges the back may be correct but air coming in may effect the 'average temperature so check the door and seal first.

    What could be the cause of a grill element not working? The actual element itself registers ok on the multi meter but wont heat up. The oven setting works fine. Is there a fuse or something which could stop the grill elements alone from working?
    Thanks

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without model information we can only generalise. The grill element can also be used during 'convection' setting when using the oven so your problem may be the selector switch or the grill regulator control itself.

      Gas ovens have safety devices called thermocouples. These have an end that sits in the flame and when hot allow full gas to flow. if faulty or the flame goes out they only allow the minimum 'start up' gas flow.

      The problem is still likely to be the element but this may not show using a standard multi meter as it needs a higher voltage to break down as shown in our other video: th-cam.com/video/XV6QlTwobLo/w-d-xo.html
      If you disconnect the wires to this element and ensure they are insulated then retry and the problem does not occur hen replace the element.

    Hello Sir, very nice video by the way, I have a question. Not knowing the terminologies
    or correct words to describe and identify which or what part is faulty; I am
    therefore asking would a "thermal fuse" be equal to or the same as
    the circular oven "element"?
    I ask this because I have a Leisure CMCF 96X Range cooker and after a four yearly general in
    house electrical test by professional electricians the digital clock display
    started flashing with a continuous bleeping alarm sound when switched back on.
    Following the manual to clear and rest the timer did not clear this fault it just continues bleeping,
    although all the igniters and two of the three ovens work the main oven doesn't.
    So I did a web search and found surprisingly this is a very common problem, thus I think, all eyes
    point towards a replacement digital clock display and said thermal fuse, or possibly one or two ideas
    from your video, however trying to find an image of it only comes up and shows as an element.
    Can you please help out and confirm this for me before buying it myself.
    Or if you know of the cure relating to my particular oven can you assist in the fix.
    Kind regards.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem is likely to be just the timer as it appears to be a simple clock and would not know if the oven was working or not. Therefore the fact it is bleeping suggests it is working intermittent.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is likely the over temperature cut out has failed. It is not clear if this is the one at the top of the fan tunnel or more likely the one on the back panel. If you have a meter one should show high resistance as it will close when warm to turn the cooling fan on. The other should read low resistance as it should only open when the oven has gone over temperature. There is no control board only the timer switches and thermostats on this oven.

      Hi James, thanks for the comments.If the appliance is dead and is plugged in using a fused plug as on small ovens it is certainly worth checking the fuse first and then confirming the power supply as mentioned at 1:00. Check if the oven temperature light is cycling on and off when hot before the oven cuts out. If the oven temperature is excessive and the light stays on due to a faulty thermostat it will cut out with the safety cut out at the back.

      Your problem is likely to be one of two things. Either the electrode producing the spark is contaminated from a food splash (if you cannot clean it then replace the electrode).
      Or if there has been a food splash on the burner causing a blockage near the electrode then the gas may not be giving a 'flame' at the electrode (again check and clean the burner if required).

    Hi Josh , I have a convection oven table top model , after watching your useful video , I want fix a turbo fan to convert it into a air fryer , through your profession is it possible to convert , your advice please ... tks sammy

      Convection ovens pass heat into them through the base panel and also from the grill element. We have seen a brand that just adds a fan inside the cavity to circulate the air better and average out the temperature. Fan ovens have there element around the fan and as a result will heat quicker and are less likely to radiate heat overcooking the top and bottom of the food. So in short you may be able to install a fan but it is not likely to be as good as a genuine fan oven.

    Hi my ariston shuts off itself while baking wats wrong with it? Is it the thermal switch?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David, is it overheating? as that would cause it to activate the overheat thermostat, check the thermostat is cycling and the light goes out before testing the thermostats

      Hi Yonna, this sounds like the thermostat has stuck, check and replace this if required.

    Hi, I have a Hotpoint EW74, and in the main oven the thermostat light comes on, fan does not work and oven does not heat up. I thought at first it was the element, but then i doubted it as i wasn't sure if this would affect the fan also? Thanks in advance. Edit: I've probed the element terminals on the back, and have resistance well within the limits you've mentioned in this vid.

      Hi Cheryl, the element and fan are probably not working due to the cut out as shown at 2:30. Check if this has failed with your meter and if faulty check the oven temperature regulates when replaced as the main thermostat may also have failed causing it to overheat.

      Thanks for the quick reply. (Quick disclaimer, i'm not Cheryl, somehow she's logged into TH-cam on my laptop. My name is Stu) So, assuming i have the correct component (it's hard to see in that vid), it is showing open circuit. On your website there are two items that look very similar, ES663793 and ES491201. One is a thermal cut-out, and one is a cut-in. I wanted to double check with you before i order the part. (my oven is an EW74P) Cheers.

      @eSpares  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Stu, the cut in stat connects the fan when warm, the cut out stat Stock Number: ES491201 should be the one that has failed, check with your meter and replace if it shows open circuit.

    Hi .i have a Montpellier single fan oven, unfortunately the cooling fan is running 24/7 not cutting out after a period of time, help ?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steven, we have no experience working on your make of oven but can give some advice. Some multi function ovens like Neff will turn on the fan as soon as the function Knob is turned from the 'off' position even if the thermostat is on minimum and the oven is not heating so check this. If all the controls are in the off position but the fan still runs look for a 'thermal cut in' usually on the duct from the cooling fan. This is a switch that should only close when warm to power the fan.

    I have a Maytag stove, gas/electric combo and it runs fine most of the time. Whenever I do any long term cooking(Over an hour) the temperature starts to fall off. I can reset the temperature and sometimes it comes back up but sometimes it doesn't Any ideas what this could be?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Andy Tysdal Have you used a thermometer to confirm the temperature is dropping?. When a gas oven reaches temperature the flame is turned down until more heat is required (if you opened the oven for a minute for example).

    • @andytysdal5167
      @andytysdal5167 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I open the oven and heat has gone as well as the temp on the control panel shows it has gone.

      +Andy Tysdal Sounds like a sticking thermostat, If it is gas we would recommend you contact a Gas Safe engineer to replace the part.

    I have Beko oven and for the last two days burned the bread I baked only on the bottom tray in the front ( door front). What might cause that problem?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are using the oven in the same manner as you have used it before and it is now burning food it suggests your thermostat may be faulty. Select a low cook temperature and watch if the oven temperature indicator starts to cut off and on after a few minutes, this should happen once the temperature selected is reached. If the heat continues rising above what has been selected it would suggest the thermostat has stuck and may need replacing as shown in a similar video: th-cam.com/video/RcpfZMe30s0/w-d-xo.html

      eSpares thanks for helping. Usually bake on 240° C, turned it on 100°C and is warm like 100°C. (After 40mins working). The other thing is more than 3 weeks now the light's gone (mentioned just in case if that makes any sense).

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The internal light will not effect the cooking temperature, and it sounds like the thermostat is 'regulating correctly. The other problem that can effect the oven cooking evenly is if hot air is escaping from a damaged seal or the door not closing correctly so check these next.

    My Whirlpool AKZ 497 starts pre-heat sequence then displays cooking which should indicate it is up to the required temperature. Recently results have been poor so have checked temperature manually with gauge. This is indicating temperature 30-35c below the temperature setting. It eventually after over an hour gets close. Is the faulty component likely to be the sensor? Thanks in advance.

      +Alan Shaw If you are not using on the Fan oven setting check the lower oven element as it may have failed hence slow to reach temperature.

      +eSpares Thanks for your prompt response. I have ordered from you a new thermal sensor for delivery this afternoon, unfortunately the bottom element doesn't appear to be ex-stock and a delivery time of 2 weeks is quoted. Out of interest these are the readings of all the elements: Bottom 41.6 ohms, Right grill 62.5 ohms, Left grill 37.9 ohms & fan 28.4 ohms. On further testing using fan setting temperature indicator is almost spot on.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alan Shaw All the element readings seem fine. As the readings are correct on fan settings it suggests a heating issue. Start for 10 seconds or so and stop then carefully (don't burn yourself) feel for heat in the grill element and through the base. If no heat from the base slowly extend the time till you are sure there is no heat from the base.If the connectors to the module are OK the problem may be the module.

      +eSpares +Alan Shaw Thermal sensor has now been replaced. No change in performance. As suggested by you I turned on oven set to conventional at 200c. Top naked element(s) heated up in a few seconds when tested by touching with damp cloth wrapped around my finger. The bottom enclosed element took about 1 minute to warm base of oven and was tested by touching with fingers before it became too hot to touch after a few minutes. Display changed from pre-heat to cooking at approximately 140c some 60c under the setting of 200c. It took about 30-35 minutes to get up to correct temperature. I have since learned that a new bottom element is not ex-stock and an expedited delivery of 14-28 days has been given by your sales people. This is not acceptable so have purchased a new oven. Thanks for your advice.

      Hi Thomas, the first thing to check would be the oven element as that can cause the electrics to trip good luck.
