    Nice machine. Is there any concern that filings will contaminate the ways? I would like to build one two but never considered using the lathe as a drive motor. Very interesting solution. Thanks for sharing. Joel....

    So it cuts on the upstroke? Seem better is it was the other way so the support was not needed!?

      The file is set up to cut on the down stroke, however like all filing machines there will some resistance pushing the work up on the return stroke

    hello -
    i have heard that a file should only be used in 1 direction, or the teeth get rolled over. your auto filer seems to bite both ways. any thoughts about that ?

      i just causes them to where out faster. i think this tool is very use full and the files are a expendable part ot things here
