This was so fun to watch. Sounds like you had a great day! Third grade is THE BEST grade. You will love it! Third grade angels is such a good first read aloud! A turn in tray is necessary in my classroom. Loved this style of video!!

Ahh, so fun to hear about your first day! Our kids come on Tuesday and I’ve got all the nervous butterflies! I like how you recapped it all at the end of the day. I might do the same, since vlogging on Day 1 seems really overwhelming. 😅

I teach in a high school teaching academy (HS students who want to be teachers). I did the same class community/social contract activity. I read aloud "We Don't Eat Our Classmates." It was awesome!

So I will be following like mad because I too will start teaching 3rd grade after having spent the last 4 years in Kindergarten. I'm especially curious as to how your plans go for the first week. Should there be more planned than necessary?
Yes!! Third graders have more independence and some of the activities were quicker than anticipated!
Always plan more!

I share about my morning slide in my “plan with me for the first week” video! The patch letters I Google “Stoney Clover” customize, go in to customize a bag, and save the letter images to my desktop 😊

Loved your 11 min "rant" You are so cute. Btw, have you tried using an old toothbrusth on your shoes. Sometimes, you need a bit of friction to get down in between those fibers. Super cute shoes though
Are you at all apprehensive about changing grade levels as to knowing the curriculum? After teaching the first grade, it seems to me, a huge jump to go from learning to read, do math, etc, to KNOWING that and applying it. Plus you had all those centers and things prepared for the little ones and now have to start over for the older kids. I'm glad your first day was great even if the internet quit on you.
