My Kindergartener comes in while I'm watching this, "is that the teacher?" Yeah...do you like her? Really enthusiastic "YEAH!" lol Proceeds to ask me how old you are, etc. I said probably around 25? Are you older than her...yes, a lot! lol Thought you would get tickled at that. We watched your pet rock vlog from a while back and her and my 4th grader loved it. I think that's why she recognized you. I taught K-2 for 13 years and resigned in 2020. Your videos remind of the positives of teaching and I love that! Also, what do you find most different about teaching in Florida vs where you were before...Alabama, right? Hope you had a great Spring Break! :)

I think the biggest difference is just that I had to switch curriculums in both reading and math. Also in AL a teacher could reach "tenure" but Florida does not have that.

Thanks so much for all the work you put in to give us a peek into your classroom! I just recently found you and am enjoying catching up on your videos. I teach 3rd grade math, science, writing and grammar in Missouri. (My co-teacher teaches religion, reading, spelling, phonics and social studies.) I would love to see a video about how you manage homework - especially for math. I hear you mention students grading their work in the mornings. I'd love to hear more about how you structure that and what you actually put in the gradebook. I'm the only 3rd grade math teacher in my school, so I'm having to come up with my own way of doing things... Again, thanks for taking the time to post teacher content here!!
Hey Jill thanks for watching!! So glad you found my channel 😊 I always love hearing from fellow third grade teachers! I send home just the practice workbook page from GoMath for homework that corresponds with the lesson we did that day. I don't take it for a grade but I do record who turns homework in on time in an online excel spreadsheet. We give "work study" grades on report cards and weekly behavior sheets and I take their homework into account for whether or not they are "exceeding, satisfactory, unsatisfactory" on work-study. I'll have to bring it up in my next vlog too!
What a sweet week in your life! Loved this weeks vlog 💞 Highly recommend Because of Winn-Dixie. If your kids enjoyed The Tale of Despereaux. It’s by the same author, and my students always love reading Because of Winn Dixie. I usually throw a Winn-Dixie party, like they do at the end of the book, with my class once we are done reading it. It’s super cute!
Also super odd to me that you have your field day in the middle of the year! Ours is always at the end of the year close to the last day of school. But also it isn’t really warm enough for us to have a field day until June (life of a Mainer lol).

Thought about writing(a little late, sorry). Make a copy of the writing. Hang the original outside and grade/assess the copy for a grade and to go home. Just a suggestion.Alicia from CT

Love your videos! Used to watch a lot more when you were in first. I teach kindergarten. Your room looks so organized. I used to love blueberry iced coffee from Dunkin but ever since I was super sick when pregnant with my youngest, I haven’t been able to drink Dunkin anymore 😢. Do you guys have Field Day so early because of how hot it gets there?

Thanks for watching!! The AR party is tied to their personal goal... If they meet their point and percentage goals they get an invitation to the AR Party! For example, this nine-weeks everyone got to watch the movie but students who met their personal goal got a snack bag invitation so they could bring their own snack and I gave them and mini sprite too 😊
