Love ❤️ Paul Keres and Richard Reti Games. No hesitation in saying that one learns better chess from Keres and Reti games than many other flamboyant players.
This man belongs on Olympus like Kasparov, Fischer, Tal, Morphy and the other top ten chess players of all time. Name recognition goes a long way---real chess aficionados include him.
Mato, I have enjoyed your Keres videos! A correction on Lombardy if I may: He is an American GM who served as a longtime coach to Bobby Fischer in addition to being his second in the 1972 World Championship with Spassky.
Mato, very often in your videos there are moments like 5:33 or 5:49. It's like you wanted to say something, but got hiccup :) Sometimes I feel like some information are left behind (e.g. after "check" on 5:49, there should be "mate"), can you please clear that out? Thank you.
I did find the critical move (4:52), but I'm sure that I didn't analyse the subsequent sequence as deeply as Keres did. I will agree with the other commentators: the end of this game recalls the boldness of Tal.
+Dan JazzaLiszt May be. But even he missed that or he wanted to say checkmate and said instead of check, it is not a big mistake. Nobody is perfect. I love all his videos. I hope he will answer.
+MatoJelic Hm, I dont undesrtand that. What is beginners stuff ? That I mentioned the checkmate ? It was not such an important thing. I am more or less a beginer, elo 1560.
Another great video. But i have a wish; there are so few analysis of positional games, so i would love a few positional games. Anyways have a great day!
+Rajasekhar Reddy White have better struture pawns, have more material, already target 2 pawns, and black king is exposed..so white have winning position
Yeah, that protects both the g4 and b5 pawns. But even if he does that, white captures f7 pawn with rook putting the black king in an awkward position. It could prolong the game but black would still be losing.
Hi Mato thanks for your brilliant informative and humorous site. Re Fried liver attack. I remember being slaughtered by this around the early sixties at a school chess match. My opponent called it the Fradliver attack and I suppose that this was its correct name.I can’t find any info re Fradliver but perhaps some of your older followers might know something. Thanks again and best regards Malcolm Stein
Punished by greed Starting on 5.10, knight take the black rook at d6 giving the rescue room for black square bishop in g7 back to c3 because the black queen has to save herself first. the sacrifice of the pawns g2 and f3 open the active path of rooks h1 and h8 and only one check lombardy realized that he was punished by his greed this is a beautiful sacrifice of queen and three pawns
When I paused, I see Bishop takes on g7, Rook takes d6 and Knight takes d6 attacking black queen with tempo. That's it, I didn't continue calculation, I just thought that was the best white can get in that position. It turned out that was what Keres played.
After White Queen's sacrifice, if Black Queen hadn't captured White's pawn on g2, the game would be about equal, right? So Black's loss wasn't forced, he kind of dug his own grave.
Seriously how many videos have done ? I ve been watching them for years nearly everyday. Thank you so much!
What a game... i love Keres. He always played moves that were not expected.
instaBlaster...

Really enjoyed thanks
Great game! Thanks for posting!
Hi Mato... I wish there was a way to know how much time a certain grandmaster took to find that killer move where you suggest to pause...
Keres - uncrowned King - always majestic!
at 4:08 why didn't the pawn capture the knight?
The twist is that wasn't Keres, it was Deep Blue.
Hi Mato, you said at 05:48, rook takes on f7 check. Isnt it check mate then ?
Beautiful game.
I think he said checkmate, but when he edited the video he inadvertently lost the last syllable.
+thilo28ful It was check mate on that move, the sound seemed to cut out just as he was saying it, Mato wouldn't have missed that

He was very tactically alert. probably the greatest player not to win the world championship
Truly a great attacking game!
what if black qween doesn't take the pawns?
+Rajasekhar Reddy White have better struture pawns, have more material, already target 2 pawns, and black king is exposed..so white have winning position
Can you please show us some Danish Gambit games?
awesome queen sacrifice
What do I think about this game ? Crazy crazy but obviously right calculations many moves ahead!!
Please cover Fischer vs. Spassky Game 6! I saw it on Pawn Sacrifice lol (not the best of movies!)
beautiful ...
At 5:32 why not queen to E2?
Yeah, that protects both the g4 and b5 pawns. But even if he does that, white captures f7 pawn with rook putting the black king in an awkward position. It could prolong the game but black would still be losing.
I wish we can watch keres vs carlsen it would be the most epic match ever
Ok now i am lost ! Is it Kares or Tal ?
If an animal is telling you he can speak, he is probably lying !
+Jules Tube LOL. This is good
You are the best Mato! :)

Que jogo!
What a game!
Plot twist: White player was Mikhail Tal
OH MY GODD I REALLY THOUGHT IT WAS MIKHAIL TAL WHYYY
thx mato
I watched until the last second, waiting for him to say "a little correction.. this is actually Tal"
Yeah, really beautiful ending :)
amazing

I bet Mato makes a follow-up video to this one revealing that it was in fact Tal and not Keres who won the game.
Wow ! Bxg7 ! unexpected and dumbfounding move. You have to be very confident to play such a move.
Beautiful game.
Exelente el campeon sin corona grande paul keres
Why do you use my games that I played May 2017 v. you?
How can Keres be so sure that his two rooks are going to slaughter the black king?
When I paused, I see Bishop takes on g7, Rook takes d6 and Knight takes d6 attacking black queen with tempo. That's it, I didn't continue calculation, I just thought that was the best white can get in that position. It turned out that was what Keres played.
Very nice move ...
Best
Keres - the GMs’ GM!
Keres is that dude !
See, games like these, u gotta be skilled at looking 5 , 6 , 7 moves ahead.
Wooow
No wonder why PAUL KERES is the Prince of CHESS 😆🐴
After White Queen's sacrifice, if Black Queen hadn't captured White's pawn on g2, the game would be about equal, right?
