I've been watching and studies your videos for a while now and only recently did I come across Keres. I'm shocked I never heard of him..but he is slowly becoming one of my favorite players
Thanks Mato, i like watching reruns of old videos... Especially the Greatest.... Now adays there more technical, and actually boring... Unless they blunder.. But yes i wish you can bring back these Great Master Players, Weather we've seen them before 🤔? There beyond our time... Be blessed ani, brother Sabbath Shalom
In my experience, bringing a hammer to a chess game is often very effective when convincing your opponent to resign in a lost position, for example, 1.e4 c5
Keres loved to play correspondence chess during his youth. He often experimented with gambits. His opponents were not often able to refute them. If Keres were around today he would be around 2750 strength.
Open any survey book of the best games of the 20th century and , inevitably, one or more Keres games will be listed. As interesting as Keres games were in wins.his losses against the greatest players of his day were fantastic! Mato, carry on with Keres!
Hi Mato, I love your lectures. After white's Bc4, what is wrong with black continuing exf4 and after Rxd5 Ne5? This threatens the white Q and blocks the e file.
MATO ... I love you .... after all those crazy sacs by Fischer and Tal that I watched on your channel ... I was able to pull a dumb version of it off..... in one of my games ... I am so thrilled! I am only a beginner but I was able to sac a few pieces going for an attack ... All credits to you sir! BTW if you can send me your casting of my game ....I would treat you to whatever you want and I can afford ....Here is the move list ... There may be a lot of blunders but please go easy on me ! 1.e4e5 2.Bc4Nf6 3.d3c6 4.a3d5 5.exd5cxd5 6.Ba2d4 7.h3Bd6 8.Bg5h6 9.Bh4g5 10.Bg3h5 11.Nd2h4 12.Bh2Nbd7 13.Qe2Qe7 14.O-O-ONb6 15.Ne4Be6 16.Bxe6Qxe6 17.Kb1Nxe4 18.Qxe4f5 19.Qxb7O-O 20.Nf3Rfb8 21.Qa6Nd5 22.Ka1Rb6 23.Qa5Nc3 24.bxc3Bxa3 25.Qxa3Ra6 26.Kb2Rb8+ 27.Qb3Rxb3+ 28.cxb3dxc3+ 29.Kxc3e4 30.dxe4fxe4 31.Nxg5Qf6+ 32.Rd4Rc6+
"keres played the best move"
I would expect nothing less. Keres is a genius.
Wonderful as always. Hope you realize what an essential part of my day your videos have become. Thanks, Mato.
Keres might have been a surgeon as well. He plays so clinical.
This game was truly amazing, just like your explanations, Mato, you're the best.
It's a great game from Mato's Keres playlist. And very good to rewatch!

I wish i could play like this in my games... these moves are fantastic i actually clapped my hands
Brillant - thank you for sharing!
6:16 CheckMATO
Excellent attack...I enjoyed this a lot. Thanks.

Another masterpiece. And an excellent selection of game too.
Thanks Mato for making videos with Keres as I asked, you're really good.
This is a very good game. I loved Paul Keres' style
such fantastic content! i have only become a subscriber in the last few days and now i am hooked
Keres was a very methodical player. Opening the files for the rooks and attacking with minor pieces; queen assisting and taking the final moves.
Excellent game! Thanks!
I always wait for your vids! thx mato :-)
Beautifully brutal!
I wish youtube let's us like the video more than once.
What a 👑 king hunt👌👌👌
Thx Mato
Just brilliant..

great game! I love agresive play
Odlična partija. Fenomenalna!
Brilliant 👍

Vow Keres attacked like Tal n even made sacrifices. Tal will be happy to watch this game.
Thank you. Mato.
Keres the KING without crown
Brilliant!
your 1500th video
Nice one Mato.....
Holy moly that was a great attacking game
I love Keres games.
Paul Keres was COLD!!!
Mato, I think this game, as always, was awesome. Thank you for asking.
At 2:56 why doesn't black take the bishop on f4. Apologies if I'm missing something obvious
+comicalhorrorpix Rxd5 and when queen moves B-d3 is going to trap the queen
In complicated positions, Bobby Fisher hardly had to be afraid of anybody - Paul Keres -
Fantastic ! Keres was the best GM never to become world champion....
+Steven Bent Larsen you mean?
+Al Kowsky
Johannes Zukertort, Siegbert Tarrasch, Akiba Rubinstein - few names from period from the first match in 1886 up to World War I (1914)
Brilliant attack
A great attack from one of the best players never to win the World Championship, in this case due to the intervention of WWII.
Such a lesson this game was 😳
Beautiful game
Awesome! Reminds me of Tal.

Keres is a beast
o.o
looks like a machine
Good as always. Can you please let me know if there is a known reason why GM don't play c4
That was definately the most centralized checkmate ever
what a great attack
2.45- Can QxD5 work for white?
The power of centralized rooks on open files to support the attack is tremendous, is what I saw here.
very good keres
why didnt black take dark bishop instead of pushing the d5 pawn at 2:55?
then rook takes pawn and queen is trapped
+Ida Bagus Ari Sudewa ok ;) he can queen f5 but then he would lose rook fork
+Brecht t if Queen to f5 then Bishop to d3 and Queen is trapped.
clearance sale! I've seen boards cleared before in short time, but not with such pressure with each move! :)
Paul Keres the same strategy with magnus carlsen
Absolutely Brilliant attack by Paul Keres..Even the Great Alekhine would have been impressed by such brilliance..
What if in 2:55 pawn takes bishop on f4??
+Mario Hernandez Rxd5 and when queen moves B-d3 is going to trap the queen
+Radio 419 MegaHertz yeah it is true Queen is trapped, thank you!
Finally a game with a checkmate! not a resign!
Keres is great isn't he!
Exellent attack
Paul Keres was a beast
a checkmate in the middle of board? wow i rarely saw this happened
nice!
idk y i found it to be tough. what do u think?

keres is like super saiyan 3 if his inteligent change to strenght :)
why not knight takes pawn on move no 6???
rahul chandran black can play Nf6
Thanks Mato....:)
#TrueFan
pretty king hunt :)
Move 27, pawn to c4, checkmate, too, unless I am overlooking something. More fun than Qc5.
very hard to stop king hunt when you took the bait I suppose
more often the king hunt stopped because the attacking player blundered (wrong sacrifice sequence, wrong placement of pieces)
its somewhat frustrating to try to take risks and lose but still a good learning experience I suppose
BTW, Keres calculated all the moves
Why do you say "advanced variation"?
The pawn advances in this version of the French
OK! I see it now.... Rxe5 is strong, eliminating the knight.
Waw
Is there a game where a gm wins queenless??
1:26 Not to mention the fact that black having an open h-file would not help white.
that was smooth. although i dont know blacks best move, certainly Qxa2 wasnt it.
Play Mozart piano concerto no. 21 while watching this.
3rd
ipman atack
dont get it i guess the best move but sucks playing
first :)
