    I find it interesting that someone can be fined the same amount for forgetting about an apple that they were given on the plane and the people who intentionally smuggle in a supermarket.

    • @joyjeffcoat8711

      They need $1,000 fines for illegal food items etc... that's why they constantly lie I would tell them the 3rd time is JAIL. All they have to do is smuggle something with bugs and they work illegal on a farm it could wipe out millions of crops

    • @createinmeacleanheartohgod6871

      Regardless of how they get the item, it's the same case, "any foods are not allowed" into the border.

    • @wilson1799
      @wilson1799 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Too many people are misunderstanding the purpose of the fine. What item being destroyed is worth more: a single apple or mountains of produce and food? You paying $300 and losing an apple is in no way the same punishment as someone paying $300 and losing their entire stockpile of food and goods they were expecting to make profits on. The difference is in the destruction of the goods, not the solid fine.

      It's not like those women harvested the bile themselves. That bottle contains belladona and creosote which are plants. I think most people who buy these "Chinese herbal medication" have no idea how they are made, and I think that girl was probably give that bottle by her mum or other relative to treat her ailments. You can see on the bottle there is writing in Thai so my guess is that it was produced in Thailand. A lot of Asian and south asian countries harvest animal products, because it is their culture. From a Western lens, of course it is cruel. We should be educating people in impoverished developing countries who rely on traditional medicines because they cannot afford Western health care instead of blaming them for being intentionally cruel and horrible.

    When did smuggling become so common for Asian people.

    • @rominn2184
      @rominn2184 หลายเดือนก่อน

      ^ It's not "common" for Asian people. Like many other groups, they are completely unaware they're doing it. They don't read carefully and they think these laws aren't seriously enforced. Either way, by the time they've packed their baggage and it's checked onto the plane, it's too late to get rid of anything. This all said, in China, they sell and eat animal products that should NOT be handled let alone eaten by humans. This is what caused the global pandemic we just lived through (well, some of us didn't live). So in that way, I understand having a bit of a raised eyebrow towards people coming in from suspect countries but the point is, it's far from just Asians who do this.
