I have no evidence to base this off but I think a large part for why he is in such good shape for his age is because he is still working. He has a sense of purpose, a reason to get up in the morning. For him its putting on that uniform and walking that beat. Getting to interact with the folks in his community rather than withering away in retirement with nothing else to look forward to. Because he is so active and appears to be healthy I imagine he will have some good years left in him. His drive to keep doing what he does in my opinion will give him many years.

Purpose is absolutely the biggest driving force of survival. If you have something to live for and truly want to live for it, you'll often find a way. It's also the most effective way to avoid or get past depression. Having a purpose. It's so easy to feel like you lack a purpose in this day and age. Working 9-5 day in and day out, in a job that could not exist and life wouldn't change. Find someone or something to take care of and make that your purpose and you'll be surprised how fulfilled you can feel.
