I don't think the royal arms are the weapons of the most recent kings, but the most remembered. Out of 113 kings, only 13 were remembering through time. Why would the father of Regis be buried in Cartanica, Niflheim territory?
The Sword of the Father was taken by Ravus from Regis and it was left by his side when Ravus died. If you finished the game, you would know that Regis is probably going to be buried in Insomnia. Noctis took the Sword of the Father from Ravus's dead body, waited 10 years, then finished off Ardyn. There wasn't time for a burial yet because Noctis did not get time to get crowned because the whole world went dark with daemons. Or maybe he did get buried, but the game hasn't shown it (sometime inbetween the 10 year dark period). The 10 year period is going to be the multiplayer DLC where you fight with friends online to defeat the endless daemons the spawn during the endless nights. Noctis will probably get a Sword of the Light or something like that because he was the Chosen One, the King of the Light.
I think Lucas King meant that the 12th Royal Arm (Katana of the Warrior), can't be the father of Regis, meaning grandfather of Noctis and was burried in Niflheim territory. So he said the 13th Royal Arms are the Royal Arms of the most remembered Kings, not the Recent.
I think Lucas meant that according to this video, the 112th royal arm, aka the weapon that would have belonged to the 112th king, Regis' father, was buried in Niflheim territory. I do think it's more likely that the arms belong to the most memorable kings that are much older than just the last 13 generations, or that maybe there are more royal arms scattered around the world but they are just not in the game.

i think the blade of the mystic is the first king chosen by bahamut which is why he is modeled before bahamut. or could be bahamut. u can see with the head/helmet design is same with bahamut and the kingsglaive badge. also makes sense he is seen floating from the rest of the kings when noctis summoned them.
im from the future bahamut showed favoritism towards the first king and noctis because they looked alike or the same as him and saw them worthy as god figures of the world

Uhhh, no? They're not numbered as 101-113th. One of them is literally the founder king. It's heavily implied that they consist of kings from varying time periods. Given the variety in their weapons and the lore surrounding them it's pretty obvious that they're not the most recent baker's dozen. Not to mention the game tells you on multiple occasions that there could be any number more tombs that have been lost to time.

Yes Sword of the Father was Regis Lucis Caelum's sword and he is the 113th king *but*..., Somnus Lucis Caelum was the founder King/ younger brother of Ardyn. And Somnus was called ""The mystic*, " and the Blade of the Mystic does belong to him so that implies that the royal arms arent the ones belonging to the 101st-113th kings. They actually just range anywhere from the 1st king to 113th king.
Since the ending was sooooo damn open to interpretation, i just like to believe Noctis lived through the ordeal and that "giving up his life" meant swearing his body and soul to the Kings of Old. I then like to think that since Noctis and Luna are inside the crystal when they defeat Ardyn, that Noctis (using his kingly power). pulls the Oracle from the realm of crystal and brings her back to life which is the final scene you see, him being happy after the coronation and being married. Why? I like to think the Oracle and King of Light were taken way off course by the manipulations of Ardyn. Even though their battle was prophecised, I doubt it was intended to occur exactly the way it did. Ardyn had VAST knowledge of the Daemons and was immortal. He had WAY more of an advantage and literally directed Noctis the entire way, even towards the crystal that sucks him in for 10 years. Given how far off course history had been driven, I would think the Old Gods, or Noctis with all their power could've brought the ONE person capable of communing openly with them. That's my take on, but then again, I'm happy ending kind of guy lol

The Shield of the Just and Star of the Rogue belong to Queens, not Kings, and the Trident belongs to the Oracle (neither King nor Queen, but still female). Fantastic video nonetheless. Oh, and the 101th, 102th thing...
The Trident of the Oracle actually belongs to that King/Queen first and was passed to the Oracle later. You can see that in the cover art and the 13 Kings. That King/Queen does not look like Lunafreya AT ALL. These are ROYAL arms, not "some royal, some oracle" arms.

Well, if the "Oracle line" included being in royalty then that won't contradict "Royal Arms". Perhaps a Queen who was also an Oracle, so the rightmost character you see in the cover art is a Queen who is also an oracle. Thanks for letting me think about it though.
The Lucian kings live for hundreds of years, but their life span lowers as they go through generations. So Noctis and Regis basically have normal life spans. It's because their power comes from one of the Gods and their blood line is getting diluted by one of the parents being a normal human.
no, they are 113 king so far, and noctis is the 114 king. about 13 royal arms obtained by noctis, i believe only noctis have that much royal arms so far. not even his father have that much royal arms. i dont have any proof for this, the only thing i can point for this theory is, i never see regis summon 13 royal arms at the same time. in the kingsglave movie, if im not mistaken, regis only summon about 3-5 royal arms at the same time
dude, it just means they screwed up.. I have a pic of Cor saying there are 13 tombs EACH WITH WEAPONS. we only find 11 tombs, and get two by story. One from Father and the other from Luna.
Cor states the number of known tombs and that the help of the Hunters has been requested. a Hunter at Cape Caem during Chapter 8 states that most tombs aren't even found in Lucis. (Explaining the one that you get after fighting Malboro.) The only reason that the Trident of the Oracle is given to us by Gentiana/Shiva/Glacian is because Luna actually speaks with Ravus before dying and I can only assume that when Ravus returns to The Emperor, Luna gives the Trident to Gentiana who in turn passes it onto Nocits along with the Mark of The Glacian. The Tombs are not the most recent Kings of Lucis in fact following Kingsglaive, The Oldest King is amongst the group that Nyx talks to whilst he has the Ring of the Lucii on his finger. The Oldest and most Recent Kings are there. There is also 2 Queens there as well. One holding the Star of the Rogue and the other holding the Shield of the Just. So they aren't even all Kings. :)
So, what happened to the Ending cutscene if we never got all the compulsory Royal Arms? That would be weird if I didnt get most of it, but it still shows up in the ened,lol
edepot The story between Chapter 1-8 is never been a set up, as it is an open world section. So at the end of the game, they always assume that you get all the 13 royal arms. That is what I think.
Well, technically all tombs are locked until Cor gives you the key in chapter 2. Plot locked ones are Sword of the Wise, Axe of the Conqueror, Sword of the Mystic, Katana of the Warrior, Trident of the Oracle and Sword of the Father. The game forces you to get Swords of the Wanderer and Sceptre of the Pious along the main story line, but you can get these Arms on your own before. Also Star of the Rogue is technically locked until Ardyn grants you the pass to Vesperpool and Myrlwood

There is a trick to boost your EXP by collectiing these Royal Arms. right Before you get the royal arm weapon ( before you touch the King's dead body) , Go outside and get back to Chocobo Outpost to eat FAT CHOCOBO TRIPLE DECKER to boost EXP.....and equip everyone with MOOGLE CHARM to boost EXP... then aftre that,... you can go back to the king's dead body and take the royal arm weapons... The EXP you get will be much higher... Do it fot 13 Royal arms
Would like to have arm guard unlocked thinking I need to go through collecting them cause I have done everything started from start after beating the game traveled back to old Lucian when and was able to get all the arms rediscovered but titans and the swamp where you first fight the Marlboro after getting through the junk yard beating it you the arm guard and then would have had all 13 discovered and then on to armbinger unleashed next to the mineral mine deposit

The only reason that the Trident of the Oracle is given to us by Gentiana/Shiva/Glacian is because Luna actually speaks with Ravus before dying and I can only assume that when Ravus returns to The Emperor, Luna gives the Trident to Gentiana who in turn passes it onto Nocits along with the Mark of The Glacian. The Tombs are not the most recent Kings of Lucis in fact following Kingsglaive, The Oldest King is amongst the group that Nyx talks to whilst he has the Ring of the Lucii on his finger. The Oldest and most Recent Kings are there. There is also 2 Queens there as well. One holding the Star of the Rogue and the other holding the Shield of the Just. So they aren't even all Kings. :)

So, what happened to the Ending cutscene if we never got all the compulsory Royal Arms? That would be weird if I didnt get most of it, but it still shows up in the ened,lol
They always show up in the end. The ending cutscene is pre-rendered with all 13 Royal Arms.
edepot The story between Chapter 1-8 is never been a set up, as it is an open world section. So at the end of the game, they always assume that you get all the 13 royal arms. That is what I think.

Well, technically all tombs are locked until Cor gives you the key in chapter 2. Plot locked ones are Sword of the Wise, Axe of the Conqueror, Sword of the Mystic, Katana of the Warrior, Trident of the Oracle and Sword of the Father. The game forces you to get Swords of the Wanderer and Sceptre of the Pious along the main story line, but you can get these Arms on your own before. Also Star of the Rogue is technically locked until Ardyn grants you the pass to Vesperpool and Myrlwood

There is a trick to boost your EXP by collectiing these Royal Arms.
right Before you get the royal arm weapon ( before you touch the King's dead body) , Go outside and get back to Chocobo Outpost to eat FAT CHOCOBO TRIPLE DECKER to boost EXP.....and equip everyone with MOOGLE CHARM to boost EXP... then aftre that,... you can go back to the king's dead body and take the royal arm weapons...
The EXP you get will be much higher...

The sword of the tall dungeon was a pain in the ass
Would like to have arm guard unlocked thinking I need to go through collecting them cause I have done everything started from start after beating the game traveled back to old Lucian when and was able to get all the arms rediscovered but titans and the swamp where you first fight the Marlboro after getting through the junk yard beating it you the arm guard and then would have had all 13 discovered and then on to armbinger unleashed next to the mineral mine deposit

I mean, just because there are 13 royal arms and Regis is the 113th, doesn't mean that those weapons belong to the 13 most recent kings. Well, now that we know that the sword of the mystic belonged to Ardyn's brother (the first king of Lucis), it's way easier to say this; but damn, the original statement doesn't follow any logic, it's just a bunch A=B=C.

I don't think anybody does except for Tabata. According to him the ending is up for your own personal interpretation. Want them all to be dead? BAM that's it! Want NoctisxLuna in the afterlife? Why not! Different alternate universes? Sure! There's a subtle annoying beauty to this type of ending.
