  • The Vango Nevis 200 - amzn.to/3L9TuSJ is a fairly lightweight 4 season tent for 1 person. Here I set it up and give it a review. There was an unexpected extreme weather test halfway through 😅

    First tent I bought for wild camping, £75 a couple of years back, seen me through some rough nights, flapped like crazy. Upgraded since then, it’s probably the best tent for the price, only enough room for me and the small dog but still a good shelter 👍

    • @MrWildWales

      Yeah it was pretty flappy in the test 😅 kept me safe and dry though 👌

    One of the best for the price, not the best when it comes to high winds but its waterproof, i've used it 3 times already and i love it, i had to reinforce the bottom with another plastic sheet just to be sure because of my dog.

    I have the same tent and only used once so far. But the one time I camped at a reservoir it rained most of the evening and night and I was totally dry all night. Only downside to it, as a tall person I just about fit it length ways.

    Nice tent, I upgraded from a Coleman bedrock to this tent, used it a few times this year , its better at the bottom for your feet with the poles, the bedrock always touched my feet at the bottom.

      I got it thinking it would be big enough for me and the boy to go camping but nope, so I've got the OEX Jackall 111 now,I did have 5 tents but the kids broke one, the Vango skye 500 is too big and got a Kombat UK triangle tent but its only good for summer.

    I have a nevis 100, and a banshee 200. I would say that the nevis in the 200 is a much better option than the banshee 200, its lighter and has more room also the same hydrostatic head on the flysheet and ground sheet are the same aswell.

    What would you recommend for me at 6ft 1 for camping in Fairly good weather only?
    I'd like room for 2 adults and gear, mostly be solo though, be taking the tent on a motorbike so weight isn't a huge issue as long as the pack is not too long, prefer if it sat on the back seat and not restrict top opening of the side panniers, I suppose round the 600mm long pack size would be ideal, might get away with it a bit wider, thanks.

    • @MrWildWales
      @MrWildWales  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MrWildWales I've got the Hydra - had it a few years now, it's a great tent, I've got a few vids on my channel when I'm out with it. I've got quite a few tents lol - I watched a few other vids on the Cairngorm and Nevis and that back pole bothers me, it doesn't seem to sit straight and it looks like the tent is prone to sagging. You had the best pitch of the vids I've seen and yes, it looks like that back pole is the downfall of the tent - that and condensation issues. Cheers Mr. Wild Wales :)

    You must have more tents than Go Outdoors haha It's actually quite a nice looking tent to be fair. I like that it's second hand and been used a few times so we can see how it fairs up and where it may go wrong. 2kg is quite heavy for a tent... almost as much as a Hilleberg!! It's a popular tent for sure, in fact Vango are decent generally. My only issue with this particular tent is it looks a bit saggy and heavy rain or snow could collect in that area. For the price though, it's decent. Cheers! :-)

      @@MrWildWales Ha! Actually I just bought the Apex Compact, which is practically the same as this. It's my first tent and I just put it up in my garden. I did read the instructions as I went, but tbh I didn't need them, as pitching was very simple, and I'd already watched a bunch of videos where people pitched the Nevis, so I already pretty much knew what was involved.
      The only place where I went wrong was with the corner straps - I didn't know how to use them, or the correct way to attach them to the pegs. TH-cam sorted me out, so I redid them, and now they're perfect.
